Truck Art

Was welcoming a long-time poster (on another board),

back from a long absence from posting. (Due to his work -- I guess).

Regardless -- he's a trucker, and looking for a suitable *truck pic*,

to post in the welcome back thread -- I ran across these.

Works of art, rolling on wheels. :)

(3-D art on the sides of the trailer),

kinda like that sidewalk *chalk art* you can find HERE!

The first 3 are cool ---

But these next two are better; :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

And these two ROCK!! :eusa_clap::dance::eusa_clap:

Eye candy on the highway. ;)

Are there real trucks like these?

I mean, these have all been "photo-shopped", no?

According to Snopes they are painted canvas covers that are placed over the truck.

Kinda sounds like a giant toaster *cozy*

Well--- except for the toaster part and the giant part and the 3-d part.

Yep. Just like a giant toaster *cozy*.

Well --- what the hey. I got *snookered*. :(

Should have checked SNOPES first!

The link to (and about) The Chalk Art is real,

but the truck one is false.

Mea Culpa.

David

I'm not quite sure why you feel you were "snookered".

Your premise was that these are genuine.

According to what i saw on Snopes, they are.

You thought they were painted on the truck.

I thought they were painted on the *cozy*.

We were both wrong about the technique .

That sidewalk one is super cool, especially the one with the hose and flowing water.

It's the same truck in each pic. Looked bogus from the very first pic (way too clean).

Ah vell.

I noticed right away that the same tree is featured in all of the pictures, the same wall in most of them if not all of them. The only one that has a "different" background is the one with the motion blur, but it appears to be a blur of the original background.

However, this kind of thing is possible, and I remember a really cool artist that drew things in the public that were along these lines. He drew a swimming pool in the middle of sidewalk and made it look like he was stepping in. You couldn't easily tell that it wasn't really there.

I saw an interview with the guy who does the chalk art. He says he takes photos of them because somehow the pic accentuates the 3D-ness of the art.

And while these particular truck designs may not be real I have recently seen (in person) some real looking art on big rigs that is VERY distracting the first time you see it (one looked like one of the side-load doors of a soda truck was open so you could see the stacks of soda sitting inside.

Ya know----You really have to read between the lines on that snopes link.

It seems the "photos" are actually digitized images of what the trucks could look like if you decided to follow the prescribed method of altering them.

BUT!!

If you scroll down, you find two actual photographs of trucks that have been given this "treatment"----The Pringle's truck and the Pepsi truck.

SO!!!

The photos are not real but the possibility of making a truck look like this is.

Some o'those pavement artists got real talent.

Paying their way through art school, perhaps?
