The song is Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood.

Here is the most well known version by The Animals:

And here is the very powerful original by Nina Simone:

But now I'm intrigued by this new clue.

I don't think I've ever heard it.

It sounds like something Weird Al might come up with.

Thanks for your indulgence. I like the Animals, and I don't know how I confused them for the Stones.

I can't find a notation saying the Stones did a cover, so apparently I confused them.

No, this was a non-spoof song by a "serious" band, and you've definitely heard of the band.

bidi bidi bom bom? selena

No. I looked up the lyrics to that song, and the counting isn't there.

It would be VERY odd for a Spanish-speaking singer to have changed the count like that.

It's an English group, better known in the English-speaking world than Selena,

and, AFAIK, all the members are still alive.

"Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" is correct.

The artist I was thinking of was Otis Reading, but Al Green may have covered it, too.

After all, two artists as different as Michael Bolton and David Allen Coe both did their own covers of this song, so I wouldn't rule anything out.

Take it away, dooj.

This might be a liitle bit harder then I want. As I said the game is trying to post a song that is easily remembered from the first line.

There only two things in life that make it worth livin'

That's guitars that tune good and firm feelin' women
