Is The Way International a Christian Nationalist group?
Nathan_Jr replied to penworks's topic in About The Way
Those are not the only alternatives. Christian Nationalism is not dissimilar to Jihadism/Islamic Nationalism. It's all theocracy, whether by Doug Wilson or Mullah Omar. Mainstream/Fundamentalist/Conservative Christianity is not Christian Nationalism. -
Taking a wild swing here... "7 Days"????

"Friends are those who show up with a six-pack, not dressed up as one of the Brooks Brothers". "I also do circumcision"! Not very sporting to fire on an unarmed opponent. I have waited almost two years for a sign from God. So when I heard the morning bells of Aquila, I knew the moment of my destiny had come. You will be my guiding angel. I'm merging your department with Archives, and I am firing you. Didn't you get the memo? There's something else about bears not many people know. If a bear gets hooked on the taste of human blood, it becomes a man-killer. He'll go on a rampage and has to be destroyed. And that's why you should never hug a bear. The Alpha intergalactic space station has reached critical mass in orbit. Its weight and size now poses a serious threat to mother Earth. In its great wisdom, the Central Committee has decided to use all resources necessary to release the space station from Earth's gravity. Its new course is set with the Magellan Current.

This show aired from 1998-2001. I wonder if I was the only one on 9/11/2001 who thought it would have been great to go back a week and stop the attack before it happened. Norman Lloyd's character in the series is named Isaac Mentnor. It's a hint for Marvel Comics, where Isaac actually is I.S.A.A.C. (short for Integral Synaptic Anti-Anionic Computer), a sentient program capable to create robotic forms that rules Titan, Jupiter's moon. I.S.A.A.C. was created by Mentor, leader of the Titans and Thanos' father. When Project Backstep is in play, the password is "Conundrum." An Australian actor portrayed the main American character, and a Brit played the Russian female lead. The two actors did NOT get along on set. The woman quit in the middle of the third season after agreeing to film a few scenes to close her character's arc. Her departure induced UPN not to renew for another season. George

Sun Gym Gang -- I was educated on bodybuilders' regular use of steroids to compete -- didn't think that it was tolerated and routinely allowed even though its banned. One of those rules that nobody pays attention to I guess -- but they really should legalize it since they're not enforcing the ban... IMO.

Admin, please delete this thread, I forgot there was an atheist section here.

I very much enjoyed Monte's account of her experiences in Savannah - America's Most Haunted City. She said that roads are paved over old cemeteries and ancient burial grounds -- not surprising to me that the city has spiritual problems?

Because it isn't a matter of faith, atheism has nothing to do with faith. But I suppose I didn't think it was a matter of faith, but I understand how there is an atheist thread I overlooked in the matters of faith section.

I understand how you could come to that conclusion and there is a forum in doctrinal. My main comment is, why should we believe or trust anything VPW said? Please don't allow his words to continue to have any say over your current life. I am thankful for all of us who have found freedom outside of TWI.

Twinky, congratulations, best wishes and many blessings on your special day!

songs remembered from just one line
Human without the bean replied to bulwinkl's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
I'm not sure what all this fuzz is about. If I were to guess, not about that song because I knew it, and I was waiting for someone else to play. But if I were to guess, ~Donovan's~ "Hail, Atlantis", would be one of the ten most recognized songs he performed, sang or wrote, to his fans anyway. I'm certainly a fan. I grew up a child in the 60's listening to these songs. ~The Beatles~ had "Hey Jude" and ~Donovan~ had "Hail Atlantis. So it's still waysider's turn unless he wants to give it up to another player. -
Thanks, Waysider. Awesome voice and playing.

In 1934, the movie "It Happened One Night" appeared in theaters, and was a commercial success. However, unlike other movies that were simply a commercial success, that movie was indirectly responsible for something that entered US culture and was important for decades.... and is still recognized world-wide. What did it inspire, and what things in the movie inspired it? (No looking things up, please, that's cheating.) Some thing(s) in the content of the movie were indirectly responsible for something whose origin and first appearance in US culture (where it still remains). Much of it has to do with Clark Gable's performance, and all of it could be learned in a viewing of the movie. ("Hey, I've never noticed this before, but...") Furthermore, children all over the US- and far too many adults- have been/are operating with a factual error, because of something that was inspired. ("Wow, I always thought that [redacted], but it's not true at all.") Also, this is recognizable around the world, both by name and by appearance, so everyone on this thread is at least familiar with the answer, if not a fan- although we have fans on this thread. As an example of how much this became a part of US culture, one thing that came out of that movie and inspired what I'm talking about inspired the name of a movie from the 1970s. Most people would probably hear that movie's title and not think of "It Happened One Night"- they would think of [the answer to this round], and I would expect that's what they'd think. It's what I thought until now, myself.

A) It was a friendly reminder to play fair. (We're on the Honor System here, and there's no fun in cheating, I agree. B) It didn't have to do with the Academy Awards- it was related to some thing(s) in the content of the movie, as in, you watch the movie in the theater, then later, are inspired [redacted]. C) AFAIK, hat wearing didn't suddenly become popular. This was something whose ORIGIN dates back to after the movie was in theaters. (There were hats long before this movie.) It's something recognized world-wide to this day, if not quite as significant in the US as it once was. (So, all of you would easily recognize it by name or by image.)
