Reading twi's article both was emotionally and physically sickening. It so reinforced the doctrinal and practical errors that robbed believers of having a personal relationship with God and Jesus Christ. The gift of holy spirit that we received from God through Christ was changed five times into "your spirit" placing the emphasis on the believer's ownership (as mentioned in #2 above). This negates the "interagency" you spoke of in #1. In John 17:21, Jesus says, "That they (those who believe in him) all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." We know this is only possible because of God's spirit being within the believer. With regard to #3, the command or exhortation that we "operate the gift" (which is likened to driving a car) is so impersonal but it was stated seven times, as was the number of times that the emphasis was placed on us and not God or Christ. The following phrases were used: when you act or as you speak out (2x), as you decide and believe to do so; as each believer wills or maturely deliberates; by our freewill decision; and it is up to us. The 7th phrase incorrectly states "God energizes (energeō) the power as we believe and decide to act." This was in reference to Eph 1:19 which says nothing about "as we believe" or "deciding to act." It does say, "And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe," but according to verse 17, this believing is totally dependent upon God giving us wisdom and revelation so that we can know him better. How can we know God better, or let God work in us and Christ live in us when the focus is all on "me, me, me?" I'm still learning about these things but I know this short article is wrong, wrong, wrong at least 14 different times! Time to read OldSkool's post again about t he story of God and his people having always been, is right now, and will always be a love story.4 points

Please allow me to sum it up for you. Once upon a time, there was a guy named Wierwille who claimed he had a doctorate. He lied. It was a mail order phony. The End. (They all lived happily ever after.)3 points

Allow me to state this in the simplest way possible,. This statement is simply false. Error after error after error has been scrutinized here. Thread upon thread upon thread has dissected these errors in great detail. It's really not my fault you've chosen to reject the obvious. To demonstrate my point, suppose you select any "error" of your choosing and "go over it with great care" to demonstrate why our conclusions are incorrect. I'm not holding my breath.2 points

Yeah that’s not his mission. His mission is to tell all of us that they are really cool and loving and laid back and any evil they did was because they were under duress. So his mission is pretty much like if you imagined one of them or their lieutenant came on here and told us what their mission was it would be pretty much the same. They have a vested interest in extending the sham and the organization. It still has shipwreck in the fabric of its operation regarding the body of Christ.2 points

Let’s compare. GS research dept: multiple denominations, many advanced philosophical and psychological sources up to date with latest in fields. Not that many people though. What you say 10 active posters? TWI research dept: Oh it doesn’t exist. Was disbanded by 2nd Prez who so hated research he called GMIR a dirty word. Hasnt been reinstated since in 2 gen of wineskins. Oh except for 4 people were given a project to re work the PFAL syllabus according to their proven re-search = research model. And put it on video for the new class. I will put my money on the former for coming up with legitimate change. As opposed to whitewashing the walls with one more coat.2 points

yup! ~ ~ ~ ~ Revisiting TWI’s article, I think they repeat the same mistake wierwille made of misinterpreting John 14 and 16 as if it applies to ‘operating the holy spirit’ as if Jesus was revealing to us how to control a power that is independent of God. First look at the article: To see this power in manifestation, we must operate the gift God has given us. But how does it work? God’s Word can help us understand the operation of the gift of holy spirit. The nine manifestations of holy spirit operate under a basic principle that can be seen in the following verses, which record Jesus Christ prophesying of the gift of holy spirit. Referring to the gift of holy spirit, John 16:13 says, “…for he [it] shall not speak of himself [itself]; but whatsoever he [it] shall hear, that shall he [it] speak….” This implies that your spirit, the gift, hears and learns from God and obeys what He tells it to say. We can see this again in verse 15. Jesus Christ says, “All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he [it, the gift of holy spirit] shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” This is the first part of our basic principle—God, Who is Spirit, teaches your spirit. In John 14, we can see the next part of the principle. Your spirit teaches your mind. John 14:26:But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost [the gift of holy spirit], whom the Father will send in my name, he [it] shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. The great principle we see from these verses is that God, Who is Spirit, teaches His creation in you, which is now your spirit. Your spirit teaches your mind. Then your spiritual power becomes manifested in the senses realm as you act or as you speak out. https://thewayinternational.com/operating-the-gift-of-holy-spirit/ end of excerpt from TWI's website ~ ~ ~ ~ Now look at the context of the passages in NIV: 15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” 22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” 23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. 25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14 ~ ~ ~ ~ 26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning. John 15 ~ ~ ~ ~ 5 but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ 6 Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. 7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. 12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” 16 Jesus went on to say, “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.” 17 At this, some of his disciples said to one another, “What does he mean by saying, ‘In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me,’ and ‘Because I am going to the Father’?” 18 They kept asking, “What does he mean by ‘a little while’? We don’t understand what he is saying.” 19 Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them, “Are you asking one another what I meant when I said, ‘In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me’? 20 Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. 21 A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. 22 So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. 23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. 25 “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.” 29 Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. 30 Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.” 31 “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. John 16 ~ ~ ~ ~ Jesus talked about the supernatural collaboration of the Father, the Holy Spirit and Himself – and most of it appears to be a forward-looking two-pronged approach – pointing to Pentecost and beyond – The Father will reveal Himself in Christ through the Holy Spirit – in retrospect one can easily see a reference to the New Testament writings: But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you…John 14: 26 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you…John 16: 13 - 15 So, these passages are NOT teaching about ‘the great principle’ of “God who is spirit teaching His creation in you which is now your spirit...& etc.”. These passages specifically speak to the collaboration of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to inspire the New Testament writings. These passages may also be understood as alluding to a ‘general principle’ of how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit inexplicably work together in each of us to help us better understand Scripture and use our particular gifts to serve others…wierwille’s egocentrism came up with the concept that we operate the spirit – that we are in control of the holy spirit- he made it out like that’s what Corinthians taught: 9 Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. 30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop. 31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. 32 The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets. 33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people. 34 Women[f] should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.[g] 36 Or did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks they are a prophet or otherwise gifted by the Spirit, let them acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord’s command. 38 But if anyone ignores this, they will themselves be ignored.[h] 39 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way. I Corinthians 14 ~ ~ ~ ~ Several study Bibles (* the three I’ve used for this post are listed below) give more background as to some of the problems troubling the Corinthian church. One of the issues was the common knowledge of ecstatic rituals in other religions – Christian believers might expect their experiences to be similar...it would be necessary to distinguish these practices of other religions from the genuine influence of the Holy Spirit – like the Speaking in tongues - Wikipedia practiced by some other religions – often accompanied with trance-like or even wild energetic behavior…In I Corinthians 14 we find Paul stressing that a believer’s behavior is always under self-control and that everything is to be done orderly and appropriately. ~ ~ ~ ~ *Study Bibles I used for this post NIV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible, Hardcover: Craig Keener, John Walton: 9780310431589 - Christianbook.com The MacArthur Study Bible, 2nd Edition, NASB - Thomas Nelson Bibles NIV Biblical Theology Study Bible, Hardcover, Comfort Print: Edited By: D.A. Mistletoe Mike first came to GSC in December 2002. Off and on, now starting his third decade as a GSC parasite, he is the anti-leader. By that, I do not mean he's a follower. As cman noted, he blames everyone for not following his lead. For not understanding his fuzzy posts. IF Mike really wanted to lead, rather than representing an annoying gnat, he might embrace Jocko Willink's insight. But to do so, he would not only need to forsake GSC, he's have to infiltrate TWI, become a trusted follower there, and effectively communicate his "vision" for healing that pathetic organization.1 point

Mistletoe Mike, has an interesting idea there. However, besides failure to grasp the salient notion of Wierwille living the life of a con artist, his "suggestions for improvement" in Victor's cult also lack grasp of cultural inertia. Of course, others on this thread have either alluded to or described said inertia. Mistletoe Mike, alas, lacks the drive and tenacity of a warrior. If he had said tenacity, he'd not necessarily feel the need to be a parasite at GSC, he'd do what warriors and spies have done in records throughout the millennia, operate from within his target organization, albeit quietly and in a clandestine manner. Why doesn't Mistletoe Mike take advantage of TWI's insecurity (seeking to reinstate those who have left the "Household") and go back in to make the changes he so wants to see? I think of Jesus, when he eluded mobs. In Luke 4 (NIV): 16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[f] 20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked. 23 Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Physician, heal yourself!’ And you will tell me, ‘Do here in your hometown what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.’” 24 “Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown. 25 I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land. 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon. 27 And there were many in Israel with leprosy[g] in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.” 28 All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. 29 They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. 30 But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.1 point

Actually, I do bring up the difficult topics at fellowship, but only when I'm sure there are no younger grads or new people who will hear me. And that makes you accountable for lying to people when u know the truth. Actually, this statement is very revealing on how much you have made the way internationals unethical practice of hiding and distorting the truth your very own. That's dishonest and someday you will explain how all that works to the non-absent Christ face to face. The so called difficult topics will eventually steam roll so called younger grads one day leaving them totally clueless and they will either have to accept a series of lies or hopefully they will run for the door and far away from twi.1 point

Part 1: What’s the Story? It’s God’s Word that helps us understand the operation of the gift of holy spirit. We can operate the gift God has given us, manifesting power with an impact. We can make things happen! Let’s live a powerful and more abundant life for God. Excerpt from The Way International - Operating the Gift of Holy Spirit ~ ~ ~ ~ These last four sentences of TWI’s article are the same old storyline wierwille designed for his ‘ministry’. I just don’t see that as a biblical imperative for the church. What church? Oh, any church – any part of the body of Christ…so…uhm I guess the church in general going all the way back to its inception. Jesus Christ’s prime directive in Acts 1:8 is actually quite simple: New International Version But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” New Living Translation But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Amplified Bible But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.” Receiving power from the Holy Spirit enables believers to carry out their mission – telling others about Jesus Christ! ~ ~ ~ ~ To reiterate stuff I said in my previous post regarding John 14, 15 and 16, Jesus was talking about the supernatural partnership of the Father, the Holy Spirit and Himself – and most of it appears to be a forward-looking two-pronged approach – pointing to Pentecost and beyond – The Father will reveal Himself in Christ through the Holy Spirit – most Bible scholars understand this prophecy of Jesus as a reference to the New Testament writings: But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you…John 14: 26 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you…John 16: 13 - 15 These passages speak to the ‘teamwork’ of the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit to inspire the New Testament writings. Regarding where we are at now as Christians in the 21st century with hardcopies and electronic versions of the Bible - these passages of John also allude to the fundamental interrelationship of how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit inexplicably work together in each of us to help us better understand / apply Scripture and use our particular gifts to serve others…and in light of Jesus Christ’s prime directive – it’s all about Christ. Telling others about Him… …Bringing others to Him in our evangelizing efforts. It’s not about witnessing for PFAL Today or getting someone signed up for PFAL Today. TWI continues wierwille’s skewed narrative of uninformed Christians needing to be taught how to operate the holy spirit – “It’s God’s Word that helps us understand the operation of the gift of holy spirit. We can operate the gift God has given us, manifesting power with an impact. We can make things happen! Let’s live a powerful and more abundant life for God.”… Oh really? How did the church ever manage all those years since the 1st century without wierwille’s help? “We can make things happen!” …oh really? Other than the last session of PFAL when wierwille convinces new students to follow his instructions to move their lips, tongue and mouth and to NOT THINK about what they’re saying – what other things do TWI-followers and TWI-leaders make happen? You know, you can’t fake miracles and gifts of healing. ~ ~ ~ ~ I got involved with TWI in 1974. I was a college student, musician and artist – and being into the counterculture of the time – I bought into the narrative of wierwille being a maverick led by God to get us back to the glories of 1st century. To escape the mental prison of a harmful and controlling pseudo-Christian cult like The Way International, I had to take it upon myself to change the narrative…I read a thoughtful article about that today – the article is addressed to stepparents and not cult-survivors – but the process is still the same: If you think about ‘changing the narrative,’ think about the movie, Jaws. In that movie, everything centers on this predisposed fear around the narrative of sharks and why they’re scary. Basically, what this means is that our FEAR can be directly linked to our first introduction and mental images of the narrative we’ve been conditioned to believe as true. Isn’t this the same for family dynamics? Whatever we’re used to, whatever we’ve been told — that becomes our norm, our narrative. And it all starts with this unhealthy (and sometimes not even true) perspective. In order to change the perspective, you have to change the narrative. As a stepparent, I don’t want to be compared, labeled, or seen as anything else other than someone who stepped up and committed to the journey. Over the past ten years, I have worked so hard to build trust within my family. But I was only successful because I chose to be different in my approach as a stepfather. I wanted to challenge the norm, the narrative, and the way I valued myself. Once I did that, my entire journey shifted. That’s my challenge to every stepparent who comes across our page — let’s change the narrative — together. Just because you’ve heard (or even experienced the ‘evil stepparent’ mindset before doesn’t mean it has to be something that continues. The change starts with you. From: What Does It Mean To 'Change The Narrative'? - Step By Step Parents For the church the narrative should be all about Jesus Christ Individually, we each have a variety of stories to tell. How we met our significant other. How having kids changed things. How we learned an instrument, a skill, the ups and downs of a career, how we made changes to our belief system – and of course how we escaped a cult. If we’re truthful…honest – changing the narrative is somewhat difficult and tedious – but so much more fulfilling than buying into the make-believe world of wierwille / PFAL. ~ ~ ~ ~ Coming soon to a Grease Spot near you Part 2: why does exercising a God-given ability have to be so complicated? Yes it would be interesting. It was also interesting to watch the movie “Men Who Stare At Goats” and consider the possibility of astral travel through walls. Each is about equally as likely. And has an equal amount of supporting evidence. But the cool thing about the internet is we don’t have to wonder. It is immediately and instantly available to tell people about the changes they have made themselves. From whatever platform they speak from. It would mean they came to the truth of the realization that worshipping an idol of VPW is not a viable future for a Christian ministry. It would mean they could tell the truth about the past because they aren’t afraid of the org getting sued. It would mean they are humble enough to see they have no education on the things they are calling themselves expert on and allow them to go to school and actually attend a class that is visible on a transcript. It would mean starting new endeavors with others not bound to their same past. It also would probably mean the end of this website. Which would be fine.1 point

The new set of someone’s marked and avoided their Corps brethren for suggesting term limits, applications and limitations on power for the top leadership. It’s interesting that you either don’t seem to know this in spite of it being brought up here more than once or you are choosing to ignore the fact to prefer getting your whitewashed version out there more often. The conflict of interest you mention here is the whitewashed version verses “the other side of the story” which is not available from mainstream sources because of the whitewash. I wanted to see TWI change when I wasted 20 years of my life supporting them “witnessing the class” and sending them all my spare money. Now I want to witness Christ as opposed to a fake agricultural business. You describing what goes on here as vitriol and the target of vitriol is the problem. You see people were systematically affected by TWI negatively. For them to describe this treatment in a negative light and have it labeled as vitriol is just one more way to victim blame.
