  1. Like so many other "lessons" propounded by TWI, 4 crucified was meaningless drivel. If one hasn't learned to treat their fellow man with the respect and equity with which they, themselves, would yearn to be treated, they have leaned nothing at all. You can learn to ride a bike, put it away for 50 years, and climb right back on after all that time, still possessing the ability to ride a bike. Not so with interpersonal relationships. There is no end point. Every day is another chance to do better than you did the day before. This concept of becoming a better human being is lost to TWI's endless pursuit of pedantic excellence.

  3. He was so much more than just a singer in a rock and roll band.

  4. I consider your heathen opinion! Having finally been released from my twi-brain prison, now it's clear to me that teachings like this are almost folly. All it did was help support unsuspecting sheep falling into the "VPW is a great master-craftsman of the Verd". LOL Seriously, the historical value is only one cross. Walk into any church today especially traditional roman catholic and only one crucifix is displayed for a solemn memorial.

  5. I was at work and saw an acronym M&A and immediately went to mark and avoid in my head?!? What? It’s been around twenty years since our freedom into the wide open spaces of God’s grace free of performance and the constant pressure of measuring up. Why did my brain translate a hospital news article as mark and avoid? Also why do I still refer to the Way as “the ministry?” I catch myself doing that still and it frustrates me. So many really good ministries genuinely meeting people’s needs and teaching the God’s Word are out here-TWI doesn’t have a monopoly.

  6. The ministry = TWI. Dr Wierwille = vpw. M&A would freak me out too - have to have a second look. The Corps - agh! My mum joined the local Salvation Army when her Methodist church closed down. They call the leaders there, and the singers, "the Corps." Made my hair stand on end the first time I heard that.

  8. I beg to differ WordWolf, Buffalo Springfield was a huge band. Still is. Stephen Stills and Neil Young are a big a part of rock history, first as CSNY, and second as solo artists. Stills alone stands as one of the most talented musicians in rock and roll. Neil Young goes without saying. I know I'm a big fan. Which two songs George? Maybe you might remember this one WordWolf.

  11. Thanks guys! I think my biggest surprise was thinking of Mark and Avoid! “The ministry” is frustrating but then when I am talking about it with other ex members it’s sort of like what else would I call it?

  13. Meh. I still call it "the ministry" out of habit. I never stop to consider the semantic implications. I'm sure there are lots of other non-cult words and phrases in our vocabularies that we never stop to analyse in-depth. I still call bandages "Band Aids" without much thought. I just don't worry about.
