  1. This thread has beome much more complicated than I was hoping for! I was attempting to find a simple answer. My one question is to Mr Wearword is how can Christ have walked the law of liberty when he was the one who had to fufill ALL of the OT law? (Including being the Passover Lamb.) Thanks to others for helpful comments.
  2. Thanks WW, I think that's the part I have been trying to figure out--how much the gospels apply to me now--some of Jesus' parables really can get one to thinking. (Like the one where he sends people away who claim he is their Lord and they had even done works and prophesied in his name.) I have read a book called Rescued by John Bevere and it has brought a lot more questions up for me.
  3. Hey belle, I am still at the beginning process of this, but I found that I needed to learn how to set boundaries in my life so that I didn't allow ANYone that much access into my personal life again. I have been attending a church--but they have never told me what to do--even when I was asking them questions about beliefs. I guess if someone needs to rediscover themselves, find a supportive, encouraging group of people and then think about what interests you had way back then and find new things to do. I took a personality test and tried to answer questions in light of before twi, during twi and after--It is exciting to see the old enthusiastic me coming back after years of being uptight and depressed!
  4. Ok all. This has probably been asked before, but I figure most of us are constantly re-thinking some of our beliefs. I know Romans says the things that were written aforetime were for our learning. I have some questions about that. If we go chronologically and not by the cannon/order of our current Bibles, it changes everything. It doesn't actually say in the verse or context what the time period "aforetime" is--we were taught it was before Pentecost. Where did that come from for real? Do you now consider the Gospels pertinent and applicable to you? Most of the Gospels and epistles were all written around the same time, often by some of the same men. Do you still emphasize mostly the Epistles in your life or do you now refer more often to Jesus Christ's ministry and teachings? If we are supposed to follow Jesus Christ and if we are to make him our Lord, then shouldn't we know what He taught and did? I know I pretty much ignored a lot of the Gospels in twi-we were always teaching about epistles-except when it was December or near Resurrection Sunday
  5. I too have started to read some of John Bevere's books. So far he is the only person I have found that tries to address Matthew 7:21-24. These verses have perplexed me for 3-4 years while I was still an innie and after I have left twi. Mat 7:21 ΒΆ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. If all we have to do is say Jesus is our Lord--then how do these people miss out? (And before someone says it isn't written to us--I no longer buy the ultra-dispensational view of twi.) Knowing of Jesus Christ and knowing him intimately is a lot different.
  6. Preacher, Where did you do your "time" in WC? Lots of 22's to chose from, so just trying to figure out if I might know you.
  7. I can only whistle backwards. (Breathing in only) I really like penguins. I can only snap my fingers with my left hand. I can't wink--any attempt ends up being a "blink" I used to be big into punk music and would spike my hair on the weekends when going out clubbing
  8. Me neither--now I am going to be concerned the next 9 days until I finally get to stay at home as mommy! I pay 170 for infant and 150 for schoolage during summer. We will be just scraping by, but it is worth it!
  9. You know you were in twi too long when everytime you think renting a apt/house you think about if the living room is big enough to hold a fellowship in!
  10. Hey. I got involved a few months after vpw died--but didn't wise up and leave until several years after the lawsuits hit. I wanted to "stay faithful to the ministry that taught me the Word" ya know--so I stayed like a good little waybot. It wasn't until I finally realized that leadership no longer cared about God's kids that I left.
  11. ok Here's my question...if TWI was paying tuition for students, Wouldn't it be listed as tuition payments and not actually a donation?

    CFF

Hey pink lady, Since you asked, here is my opinion...hang out with your church friends for a while and get exposed to a different viewpoint/different perspective of the Bible than TWI/offshoot brand. Your CFF friends should still be around if you decide to check it out. I have been to a CFF fellowship and enjoyed it--they were loving and emphasized Jesus Christ more than TWI these days. Probably would have came back if it was closer--but I am enjoying the local church I have found right now. I have been out of twi for about a year and a half.

Exc there's no clouds--but I could name a penguin after you!
  15. I heard just the other day about a similar situation with our local WC and I am not in any of the areas discussed above.

    Hello again

Hi everyone!! Just thought I would pop back in to let you know me and girls are doing great. We have had a bumpy start but things are looking up now and we are getting into the swing of things. Besides that--I had to post in my purple flannel penguin pajamas!!! (This is the only forum where I am known as penguin.) Hope you all had a very happy holiday!!!
  19. I would say twi should have been responsible to teach how to purchase a home (and even a decent car) because they said it was available to get these things without going into debt. Never ONCE did I hear the "how to" of either---and they even bragged about how they were teaching how to own a home without going into debt at anniversary meeting just a couple of years ago. Most innies just shook their head yes at that one-
  20. very cool poem bagpipes! I can certainly relate. I am thankful that God waited for me to figure things out.

    Beth Moore

Hi al. I have heard of her--I haven't attended any of her classes but have read at least one of her books. The book I read was Breaking Free and I found it very helpful as I was reading it around the same time I left twi.

    Happy belated birthday!!
  24. Well, they are least MENTIONING Jesus Christ.... The one thing that started to get me though was they only wanted the POWER to do what Jesus Christ did. Where is the RELATIONSHIP with Jesus Christ (OOPS forgot you are not even allowed to talk to him--can't have much of a relationship then can you?)
