  1. But---but---but Then it wouldn't bobble and it wouldn't be a head.
  2. Taking the place of "the absent Christ" on your dashboard.
  3. Speaking of teepees, didn't Del or Donnie or Bo or one of those guys from the early days just show up at HQ one day and set up a teepee in The Way Woods so he could be closer to the heart of it all? (Pre-Zero Corps days) In fact, I think that might have been partly where the concept of learning "at the master's feet" came from. (Not the Biblical version, of course)
  4. I guess the biggest light that came on for me was when I finally accepted that the "law of believing" was a bunch of nonsense. It's embarrassing to think of some of the things I tried to fix with believing. Hey! Got a marriage that's going down the tubes? No problem. Just speak in tongues and believe. Counseling is for spiritual weaklings. Got a job that puts you into unsafe/unhealthy situations? No problem. Just speak in tongues and believe. Protective gear is just another way of making a negative confession that something bad could happen. Reminds me of the time I saw a guy banging his head against the wall. I asked him why he was doing it. He said because it feels so good to stop.
  5. I don't think The Way has cornered the market on it. When I worked in construction, we said that when the boss came around he didn't want to see anything but elbows and hind ends.

  9. I'm glad you're no longer under their control. :)
  10. Another great tune from Burt Bacharach-----terribly underrated for his writing skills.

  13. I'm not sure about rock "stars". Quite a few top notch professional rock musicians were once part of The Way, though. There is also a jazz star/icon who was involved at one time. If I'm not mistaken, his daughter is a WC grad.
  14. The man was a self centered pig. "Ohhh, but he taught me The Werd!" Pffffffft!
  15. What's there to go on about? Wierwille used the money to buy stuff and exert his control. It fits like a hand in a coin purse.
  16. I went to my first ROA the year that it became a weekend event, rather than one day. I think that was 1972. (I used to have a tee shirt around here that said "Rock of Ages, 1971", but, I think somebody gave me that one.) I was 21 years old and had been to several secular music festivals. It was the parallel similarity of the two that attracted me. As time went on, though, the ROA resembled those events less and less. The disparity grew with each passing year. After a while, there was essentially NO similarity. So, whatever it was that I found appealing at that first one was no longer in evidence. I think I went to my last one in about 1980. I had no desire to ever go again.
  17. Money and power-----they're intertwined, in my opinion.
  18. Watered Garden has posted about that sort of idea crossing her mind. I think she made reference to using mouse traps. :P
  19. Well, if your name actually happens to be Peter, maybe they were written to you. I'm just sayin'
