Geeze. I just come here for the free coffee. Will there be any cookies? I'm just askin'.
-
Why, yes. I believe it sucked even more than it really needed to.

I don't really think it was all that fundamentally different than selling vacuum cleaners. We were selling something (PFAL) that sucked.

Why did Geer's Patriarch Paper "rock our world?"

This paper had about as much credibility as a job character reference from the devil. -

Maybe you should investigate Mr. Wierwille and call it your every day cup of reality. (You do know he wasn't a "Dr.", right?) -

Do tell. What are these signs, miracles and wonders you've been seeing? -

I think the franchise concept was part of Wierwille's business plan all along. What was Fellow Laborers if not a franchised version of the Corps? It just took Geer a while to figure out how to cash in on it himself. -
Why did Geer's Patriarch Paper "rock our world?"

When P.O.P. was written/read, the average schmoe, like myself, had no idea the depth of depravity Wierwille was entrenched in. But, Geer knew. He, in fact, was instrumental, not only in fueling the depravity, but, also, and perhaps more importantly, in helping to create this false persona of Wierwille being some "great one". So, while he (Geer) is reading all these accolades that appear in P.O.P., he is simultaneously aware of the falsehood he is presenting. He knows he is lying through his teeth. How could anyone possibly now give an ounce of credibility to anything at all that this man might say? -

Has anyone mentioned yet that VP was NOT a "patriarch"? He was just some charismatic, power hungry, drunken sexual predator. Doesn't it make the whole premise of the paper a rather moot point? -

We sure were a gullible bunch, though, weren't we? -
Well, I'm not a tree expert, but I'm pretty sure trees can die either way, depending on the cause. Anyhow, Jesus walks up to this tree 'cause "he's hungry for a snack, like when you and i want a pack of gum." Oops! No gum. (I think it might have actually been a gum tree.) So, he says, "I'll teach you not to have any gum. Die, sucker!" Next thing you know, it's kindling for the campfire ring. Seriously, though, you have to ask yourself why Jesus would curse the tree for not having fruit when he knew that it wasn't time for fruit to be on the tree. Wierwille's explanation was that Jesus knew there should at least be buds on the tree and that the buds make a good snack. Do fig buds make a good snack? Where did VP get this idea that fig buds were a viable "snack food"? Maybe they are. I don't know. But, I don't think Wierwille knew either. I think he just pulled this stuff out of his azz.
-
Remember the fig tree that supposedly died in the wrong direction? Wierwille said that Jesus wasn't really hungry, "he just wanted a snack, like when you and I want a pack of gum." All PFAL books destined for sale in The West say "a pack of gum", while all PFAL books destined for sale in The East say "a dab of hummus." (In the southern states of the good old U.S.A., it's "a side order of cole slaw.")

I don't remember doing that, specifically, but I do remember how we had to tear them apart and clean the drum on a routine basis or it would fail to track properly.. In the early 1980s, as this format was on the brink of obsolescence, HQ made them available to select insiders for a mere $800. And they only had playback capabilities; they did not record Also, I once made a car buying decision based on the depth of the trunk. It had to be deep enough to house the tape machine, projector, movie screen and supplies.

The information was incorrect on one point. The class was converted to video tape in the early 1970s, not the 1980s. Oh, the stories we could tell about those wacky "u-matic" machines.

It's an old Billie Holiday tune that's been covered by scads of other artists. Here's my favorite version of it, as done by BS&T. God Bless the Child FREE POST!! -
