I don't think they will ever have to worry about the money running out. What they need to worry about is their membership numbers falling too low to maintain a facade of legitimacy. Hence the "spider and the fly" routine.

The question is not necessarily literal. It's more about the sense of betrayal that accompanies a sudden realization.

"She really knows what she's talking about."

Unless she does something like did.Nah----not gonna happen. :P

Sort of reminds me of one of those made-for-TV movies on the L!fe+ime Channel. Hubby has to "work late" all the time. Wife feels so bad that he has to work so hard to build a future for the two of them. Then----- One day she accidentally discovers that all those nights she was toiling over a hot stove, perfecting his favorite treat, creme brulee, he wasn't at the office after all. It hits her like a ton of bricks to think that while she was stirring a pot on the stove, he was stirring something entirely different.

Please feel free to substitute the MOGFODAT that is most chronologically relevant to your experience.

We've had several "where were you?" threads. Where were you when JFK was assassinated? Where were you when the towers fell? Where were you when we landed on the moon? Where were you----? But here's a bit of a twist. That night in session 12, when you spoke in tongues for your very first time and knew that you knew that you knew------Where was Wierwille? Perhaps he was riding one of his high priced motorcycles or off on a "hunting trip" with Howard. Maybe he was three sheets to the wind, polishing off yet another bottle of Drambuie. Maybe he was "counseling" an innocent young recruit on "what it means to be alive". Think about it. At that very moment, what do you think VPW was doing?

She was a key player in the sex scandal that rocked The Way. In light of that, all other points about her seem moot.

"Crept" in? No, I would say "smuggled" might be a better descriptor. Wierwille copied Leonard, Stiles, Bullinger, etc., line by line and word for word in so many places, "crept" can hardly describe it. Problem is, he even copied things he didn't fully understand and, in so doing, missed the points the original authors were trying to convey. The whole thing was an elaborate scam and we were the hapless marks.

If they are still expounding the virtues of "The Law of Believing" I would hesitate to call it harmless.

Looking back, it's so hard believing that stuff really happened. Unfortunately-------It did!

I've never been to England------But I kinda like The Beatles.

I have posted on this before. It happened in what you could call a "vision" or something along those lines. Happened about a week or so after I "got witnessed to". Before I took PLAF (The Wonder Class). It was very, very, very intense. I never had anything like that happen to me before or after that time. I discussed it with the twig leader and was told that it was just "unrenewed mind". (As if I even knew what that was after being in the word for all of a week or so.) It haunted me for a loooooooong time and I felt more and more guilty about it the longer I stayed in The Way. How could I have let my unrenewed mind stoop so low as to think such things of such a great man? (cough)

Hi, Billy G Welcome to The Cafe. Would you care for a menu or have you already decided? First cup of Joe is on the house

When I think about where I was when news came of JFK's death, it seems like so very, very long ago. Maybe that's because I've been through so many profound changes in my life since then. This, though, seems like something that happened last month or something. Not literally, of course, but I think we're all familiar with the expression, "Seems like yesterday". But, yeah, I remember where I was. It was just another day at work until someone came into my shop and told me to turn my radio on.That was right after the first plane hit.

Oh, no. Silly me hung around until 1990. Though, admittedly, I was on cruise control my last 10 years or so .

I think he knew all along it was a big scam. I have my own personal reasons for believing that. My apprehension all started one day in 1972 when he "gave me the finger".

I suppose 8% might warrant a thin spray of spit, but don't expect anyone to hock a loogie for anything less than 20.

Yep, I remember Pillai. In fact, we had an interesting thread going here awhile back, discussing some of the "Orientalism" that he taught. I dunno, though. That thing with the Hindu knowing when he is about to die sounds Waaaaaaaaaaay too much like a Hollywood ending from a 1940's flick. Would have been a good scene for "The Real McCoys". Walter Brennan lays there in bed--- Little Luke and Hassie "fetch" the family Bible---Pepino whips a big red bandana out of his overalls and wipes his tears before blowing his nose----Suddenly, Grandpa McCoy breaks out into a tear jerking rendition of just before the lights go out forever.I'd still like to see a scripture that gives some credibility to this as being "Biblical".
-
Slight derail--- I think this aspect of "leadership programs" is what people sometimes fail to recognize when they say things like, "Why didn't you just question that decision/action?"
-
Kinda makes ya wonder. All those "spirtchal" heavy weights hangin'about the motor coach at the end-----Youda thought somebody woulda said, "Hey, lookie there, it's that old spurt of death guy climbin' into the 'coach." Hmmmmmm?

Re: Spirit of Death This is something that was taught in the Advanced Class. According to Way doctrine, this is a devil spirit that hangs around someone whose death is approaching. (page 21 of 1971 syllabus) As taught in the AC, this spirit, itself, does not cause death. It simply visits someone who is about to die. And, according to Way doctrine, regarding "discerning of spirits", someone who is tuned into revelation can discern this spirit. Why? Beats the cr@p outta me. You would think there would be better places for a "spirit being" to hang out than someone's death bed. Anyhow, Wierwille never gave any scripture reference to back up this claim. I think it is part of that whole package of definitions and such that he stole from Leonard or Stiles or whoever it was he stole it from. Interestingly. though, it bares an amazing resemblance to a lot of the old folklore about "the grim reaper". FAMILY GUY
