Name that Star Trek Episode
GeorgeStGeorge replied to GeorgeStGeorge's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
NG. I forget the exact title, but it's something like "10011001". "Binars" hijack the ship to use its computer banks to store all their world's info during some big EMP event. They use a holosuite hottie ("Minuet") to keep Riker on board, because they will need someone to reboot them, later. George -
PIE TEA BURGER??? George

Dana, This is the right thread (Friend Tracker) to look for people. If you had any Corps friends you might also try those threads. A couple of websites that I have found useful for tracking down old friends are Intelius and Zabasearch. (Switchboard.com is helpful, too.) Best wishes, George

Too bad you didn't post about a month ago. I tossed out almost all my old TWI stuff when the Countess and I moved. George
-
Yep. Jeremy IRONS, JEFF Bridges. Your turn! George

According to Switchboard.com, Rico and Robin live in Botkins, so I'm sure they're still hanging around TWI. Is Rico still PR Manager? I don't know. George

:( Sorry for your girlfriend's (and your) loss. If you can make it, know we'd love to have you. You might consider PM-ing Dooj, TBone, or Tom to see if you could drive down with one of them (though if you're two hours from Dallas, a flight might be better). George

Obviously DS9, and strongly reminiscent of the original series episode "Return to Tomorrow" but I don't remember any details. :( George -

Correctamundo! George -
Dallas would still be quite a drive to ex10's place (though you could probably come with Tom Strange, TBone, or Doojable). Excie lives quite close to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, however. George Hmmm... We may have to re-think that no-mark-and-avoid policy. :D George

Why, yes. Yes it is! Be careful out there. George -

Jim, I'll let ex10 add details, but the general gist is that the actual barbecue is Saturday afternoon-evening, with attendees bringing side dishes, etc. Ex10 and Dooj will probably coordinate. A "pre-party" on Friday night has also been part of the festivities, as has an informal fellowship on Sunday morning. You will not be marked and avoided for failing to miss any part, but you really shouldn't want to! Depending on how far you live from The Woodlands, you might consider renting a nearby hotel room. In the Gallery are some pictures from the first two affairs. This started a couple of years ago when Tom Strange and I invited ourselves over to ex10's, and it grew out of control! George

I'm reminded of the story of the boy whose mother told him not to stick beans in his ear. Never would have thought of it by himself, but... So how many of you wound up getting viruses by clicking on the link? George

Jim, I see you're trying to start a "TWI wasn't ALL bad" thread. Good luck with that. I probably would not have met my wife and stepkids or had the three wonderful grandsons I have now. On the other hand, I probably would be married, with kids and grandkids, and hopefully happy. I would not have met many of the people I consider friends (including, ironically, Rhino and George Aar). I would have other friends. I would probably still be Roman Catholic, though I might have been delivered from that by other means. I might still be addicted to nasal spray, but I might have been delivered from that, as well. I would almost certainly not have the knowledge of the Bible that I have now; but then, maybe I would. Too many things have happened since 1978 for me to make any meaningful predictions about where my life would have gone. I'm happy with what I have. George

Oldies, I don't know whether it's because you can't admit that you were misled or because of some other reason, but it's true that you were used by TWI. As I was. As Rascal was. As White Dove was. As WordWolf was. Did we learn things useful to us in later life? Some would disagree, but I say yes. Were our hearts in the right place? Except for those who actually got into TWI for power and/or sex, again I say yes. Did the people who witnessed to us intentionally mislead us? For the most part, I would say no, because they, too, were misled. But it doesn't matter whether you're the screw, the screwdriver bit that drives the screw, the drill housing that holds the screwdriver bit, the robotic arm that holds the housing, or the computer that controls the arm, you're still a tool accomplishing the ends of the person in charge. No. This movie is significantly older. (Though not as old as I am!) George

Interesting guess (I love that show); but, no. Not a current show. George -
When I say that, it means that a person's name is meant by a picture of him/her, not just a generic term like "man" or "girl." Since only one of your pictures involves a person, I'm not sure what you mean. George

Nyah, nyah! Told you so! Of course, the doomsayers still hope for Fay to float into the Atlantic, strengthen, and come back as a hurricane! George
