  1. This is a good topic and glad it was brought up. This is my take and meaning to derail this thread of my personal take just adding my two cents. I always had a problem with the law of believing too. I remember once in the 9th Corps residence I became so sick, I think it was the Russian Flu (who knows). I was so sick I felt an impending doom to my longevity. My Twig Coordinator came in and told me to believe to get well, quite coldly but definately not bowel of mercies I was "needing" to hear in my weakened state. The campus nurse Fran came in to check on me and I told her what I was told to do. She said, you lay here until you feel better to move. She was a registered nurse in my Corps. Who do you think I listened to and I took her advice. This is my story and I am sticking to it. I often got the impression that believing was like a magic wand to get what ever you wanted. How arrogant of us humans to think we can ask and just get it. Patience is the key. It was an intimidating tool to give more mentally, physically and financially to the ministry we thought was just it. We all have our negative days and our positive days. Welcome to humanity and the 21st century. I know when I am negative (whine) having a bad day and positive having a good day. I have learned to encourage someone when I see them down and take encouragement when I am so, such is life, uhh. I learned to be callased like we all have been exposed to in the ministry and learning to own it and change. Does it not say, that the rain falls on the just and the unjust? Also the sun shines on all. James 4 is appropiate here too, because, who does know what things will become of what we think. I just can't stomach we can believe for everything. I think we were meant to be humble and wait.
  2. That live Advance class in Ohio. We were in residence just had the Adv. class and went to the one in Ohio. Get this, we hitched hiked all the way there from Emporia. Payed $50 to attend only to have to work everyday on bless patrol and other jobs. What a joke. Then hitched hiked back to Emporia. A lot of us were grieved in the spirit.
  3. Tappies are flip flops, sandals, thongs. That is what my grandma down in Purcell Ok called them Geez.
  4. Niki it is summer here but it depends on what part of NZ he is going to. It is always good to bring a jumper (sweater). The weather changes so quick. I was told to just bring a pair of shorts and a pair of tappys and I would fit right in, How true that is.

    spanking

I don't think you should ever beat a child. Dicipline when they are out of bounds yes. A good scolding or maybe a swat on the bum yes. Show them you are on their side to some degree but don't break their spirit no. Some of my other nephews none of the above worked but time did and they love me and respect me, not they I sought it. In the great state of Oklahoma a number of years ago. Governor Keeting in a state address said spanking a child is acceptable as a parent because Okie kids were so out of bounds and unfortuneatly he had to speak on the matter for all of the liberal lawsuits at hand. I remember once I went to my brothers house and was waiting for him. One of my nephews was needling his sister so I told him to sit up the on tailgate of my truck. He refused, so I went and got a switch off of a tree. He told me he would call DHS, I said I will really give you something to tell them before they arrive. He stayed on that tailgate. Personally, while in a childrens home for three years, I have been beat as a kid with paddles, switches on my bare back, water hoses or anything else the adult could grab. I was wild growing up but never used these methods on my kids. Beating not good they will rebel. Hope this helps.
  6. A number of years I was required to take an American history course in college. It was right up until the civil war and stopped on the civil war and continued there after. The civil war class was a class by itself for a complete semester. One thing I remember the professor speaking about and he was adamant. He said the civil war was not about slavery period as we have always understand. Furthermore I had the chance of meeting a man once in Meidville Pennsylvania. He literally had in his study filled up shelf upon shelf and it took up the whole wall of documented storys of the movements day in and day out of negatives or positives. It is usually written by younger officers. I had to provide input to my LT while in the Army and this is how they document actions. Not to get off track here just some insight. Anyway. I have known this man to have an appetite for the civil war as he would go out and collect relics with a metal detector and had artifacts. I posed the question of what was the cause of the war and he said it was all economics and money. He said the north was moving into the industrial revolution and the south did not or could not go in that direction. I am open to comments from anyone as I have I have always been curious.
  7. All I know is my true friends are at the Ninth Corps site and here at GS. Hey, I know it is cyberspace, but that is all I got. It may sound shallow, I enjoy reading everyones insight of things and the past lost to the TWI in my youth. Thanks friends.
  8. Once I took my son to my job on daughter/son day. A day the government allows to do so. It was my day the daily plant check of the powerhouse that was a hydropower electrical plant. I was explaining the importance of writing down different temperature readings, oil levels, oil pressures etc. I explained this is so we can monitor the turbines and see a trend if their is something due to fail. He looked at me and said "so it's something to give you to do". I looked at him and said Michael you are going to make a good government worker.
  9. Thanks Rocky, Just when I saw your name posted I thought to look at the Freedomcharter page to see if they posted it or not to tell you it was there and miracuosly you already found it. Thanks neighbor! that was my day on the southern Pacific on the Sappire Coast.
  10. I am awaiting like everyone else. It takes precious time to word it in a way that it isn't all that bad. Please be patient! Let's all change pews unless we don't hear it properly from the outcome of their interpretion.
  11. I have learned all of my life since a little youngster that everyone will tell you their opinion of you of what you should do or not do. S-rew that. Alls the while their little perfect life is more messed than mine. I either get in their face or melt it, depending on the severity of request they mention and meddle that I change to their standards which is unfounded. I think this is (Away from TWI 101) I am fed up with it, of what you were exposed just as you are. Learn to say SHUT UP,Step off, Bugger off. I beyond me, do not know why when we are humble towards others it creates some kind a vacuum like a sign someone puts on your back to kick me. I just don't think us Christians should cower down to others or our own mind of what we really know of our position in CHrist. These people or thoughts don't cower down to us but prey. Go on a vacation do something my brother just don't take it any more.
  12. We have had bush up norh in New South Wales in the great state of Sydney. It has knocked out our Fosxtel cable t.V. Is the Lord trying me or is the last times of things to come. Work with me here as it is hot and I spent enough time in TWI to find out what hell will be like. It is freaking hot here.
  13. It is 104 f today yikes. Let's trade seasons or just go to spring or fall.
  14. Man ,I would also like to say that after hitting 51, I have learned that if I do something wrong. To myself or others is to "own up to it" I am saying I own this yea or nea thing. It gives me peace to own it. But most of all learn to laugh at yourself and accept who we are.
  15. I concur with Oneophile (what does that name mean anyway). I often tell myself that we are all in the same boat with our frailties and shortcomings. Sin runs through our blood man. Like Paul said in Romans that I will not I do and that I will I do not, hence old man and new man. My Grandpappy told me once that I would have good days and I will have bad days. Man aint that true. It's always a balance and the worst mistakes I have made was when I was emotional unstable about something going on on the inside. I think knowing I condemn myself, from the unrealistic expectations teachings of TWI. Thank God I married a counsel to work through some of this junk I have suppressed for so many years. I just know with all of my heart I am forgiven and saved and everything else positive from the Vord is applicable but only if I claim it and wait for the river to calm down.
  16. Niki are you expieriencing CABIN FEVER yet? Rocky the fish is in the ice box awaiting Australian day for a bahbee.
  17. Rocky, I just called the owners of the fishing boat. In a few days they will put it on their website as they are busy during the holidays being summer. In a few days check out www.freedomcharters.com.au. That should be posted in a few days. The capton of the boat after my fish was gutted and filleted reached down with his knife and took off a piece near the spine and offered me a taste and I said I do not eat raw fish. His reply was a fisherman always does and I said let me give it a go and it tasted delicious, hence, my first sushi in my life. It had no flavor of fish or oiliness. It took me a week to get rid of my flaky sunburn of the South Pacific sun. I had a blast. On the 26th is Australian day and I am going scuba diving at Mornington penisula Phillip Bay with our hometown diving club. Yippee!
  18. I honestly do not know what is going on at Gunnison, but let me share my thoughts. The river that runs through is very cold spring water, I tried it trust me. When I used to jog I would jog uptowards a peak amongst a plutonium mine forgotten mine and even scratched my time on a rock as others did. I enjoyed the rain scent of the Colorado high country sage chasing jackrabbits I could never catch. So many years ago. But it was like yesterday in my mind. I remember picking rose hips and using them at HQ when I got sick with a stuffy nose. I would often enjoy going back but not to the regime now I could not stomach it after the pop but I sure would like to and often dream about it.
  19. We went on holiday at Eden NSW (New South Wales) and my wife my Julia baby jumped out of a plane with a tandom instructor. She was absolutely exuberant to jump as an understatement at the age of 50. What an enthrollment for her. I went out later to the continentinental shelf and and cought a yellowfin tuna the largest catch for the day. What a wonderful holiday. Now I am back to work for my first week, UGHH.
  20. Eagle, good on ya mate to have excused yourself from a first date impression. After two years you would have been henpecked without a spine to get out of that relationship. I spent times with girls in the ninth Corps that was to harsh for me. I just went on I am better now.
  21. Happy birthday Tom Strange.
  22. Well ,this is my take on it. Women are like their purse, A mystery. What is on the inside. Today I put my jeans and leather shoes on to go out and weedeat (whippersnipper) and mow the yard. On my way out my wife said I looked sexy. What the freak. I think it is always important to be there when they need you but give them space as I know us men need space. All I am saying is always listen to the woman but do not ever try to fix what they are experiencing, ( just listen). Us men often try to fix things, women just feel very content on us men listening. I heard this from my 9th corps sister Betty. If I could say just listen. Period !
  23. I recall on my interim year, the government or the the world was somehow coming to n end. From TWI . Importently enough to get ready for doom or gloom,PREPARE. I was a WOW, I bought a Jansport D-3 backpack and a fifty pound of millet for my WOW brethen to survive. I recall back in 1972 by Jimmy Swaggert that all of the planets would line up in such a manner and the Lord would return. WHATEVER! Aint noone knows the times or the seasons. We just need to wait! We will hear all kinds of things I reckon. Who is the next contestant as the song goes?
  24. I am going on holiday. Any questions should be addressed to Simon Zelotes. Just write the TEACHER. No cash advances to him.
  25. Tom Strange ,I am not a prognosticater. In the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be, Ecc 11:3. The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong...Ecc.9:11. I am old fashioned. Flip a coin and/or draw lots heads they tails they lose. dunno.
