  1. Yeah, I could get it on AM radio... which, if it were the Dodgers (Vin Scully) I would do, or find a way to do in a heartbeat. Otherwise, I don't have a radio in my 93 nissan pickumup truck and the AM reception on my home theater system is bad due to interference from the TV and other stuff. btw, the ONLY scoring in the Dbacks/Giants game was Barry's 739th, a solo shot.
  2. Fox just showed A-Rod's at bat... producing another extra base hit... talk about being in the zone!
  3. Fox has the Cards @ Cubs game here... Cubbies up 4-0 after 2 innings. Jason Marquis pitching FOR the Cubs. For the life of me I can't understand why Fox isn't carrying the Dbacks @ Giants game... especially since Barry just hit #739... THAT game is on NO TV today! "#$!%&$"#$!%&$. I'm thinking Gibson's iconic HR was 1988... but I should look it up to verify (but won't just now). THAT HR will be to our generation what The Babe's "Called Shot" was to an earlier generation, I figure.
  4. How very true! Not UNlike Kirk Gibson's HR against Eckersley in the WS... I forget the year, but could NEVER forget the images... btw, Gibson's now bench coach for the Dbacks.
  5. No problem... and indeed, Schilling/Johnson the WS 2001 MVP (together)... Ya know, Bolshevik, the BoSox are coming to Phoenix in June... hopefully we'll be treated to a Johnson/Schilling showdown.
  6. It was ONLY game 7 of the most exciting world series EVER, when the Diamondbacks, on a walk-off bloop single by Luis Gonzales (now of the Dodgers) drove in Jay Bell from 3rd base in the bottom of the 9th for the winning run given up by game 7 LOSER Mariano Rivera! I still, vividly, remember where I was sitting, watching it take place that November night in 2001. Which is why I can be excited with you for the Sox coming from behind to beat the Yankers tonight! :)
  7. Yep... I very much agree with you on this point. I personally do not care what your point was either in your comments to me, or in posting the link. I saw nothing bad in you posting the link. I was NOT criticizing you in ANY way for doing so. I ONLY made the point that it was NOT an exhaustive list. Nothing more, nothing less.
  8. Got a mouse in yur pocket, there Ron? Actually, (and though I am NOT listening to it on the internet... and cringed when the local 10pm news played it a few minutes ago), I very much agree with you on this... much like NBC airing the crap from that disturbed killer at VA Tech, THIS item REALLY doesn't belong here, or anywhere on the internet... and NO, I'm not wagging my finger at anyone here. I simply do NOT understand the voyeuristic tendencies that cause "the public" (which is the collective, "all of us") to have such a need to watch and listen, over and over and over to peoples' dark side. Isn't it bad enough, and proof enough to simply publish the transcript? I read it once this afternoon. That was more than enough for me. Yeah, there's things that I like to look at, look on, look over someone's shoulder, etc. about... but they are NOT this kind of stuff... Which is probably tied in to my disdain for American Idol, Survivor, various Bachelor/Bachelorette programs, etc., ad nauseum, yada yada yada. Calling them, as a genre, "reality shows" is soooooooooo much a misnomer. As one poster on this thread alluded, WE do not know the whole story. But we know more than we need to know. Which, unfortunately, is enough to know how much of a jerk Alec Baldwin can be... and there is NO excuse for talking like that to a kid. I do, however, empathize with the extreme frustration Baldwin must experience from dealing with Basinger... which, together with my empathy for his daughter, is why my bottom line is that I hope someday, (hopefully before very many days have passed) Baldwin is able to apologize to his daughter to the extent, and in a way that is meaningful to her. I've been estranged from my daughter (now age 17) for most of the last four years. I know how extremely frustrating it can be to have to deal with a former spouse who holds animosity. I also volunteer at a child crisis shelter... so, I do feel for the kids... most of whom miss their parents (one or both) very much.
  9. Yeah... I suppose you're right. We still miss you there.
  10. Yeah... Rivera probably had an incredible sense of DEJA VU (all over again)! He had a similar game in November 2001 in Phoenix... and the winning run scored on a bloop single, JUST like happened tonight at Fenway... :)
  11. Eagle, that's complete B***S*** on the issue of whether he gets work as an actor, you do know he is a main character in a regular prime time TV program, don't you? On the issue of what he believes, you speak (write) as if you have first hand knowledge. That seems most implausible, as does the accusations you made. The man obviously has personal issues regarding his ex-wife and his daughter. Those issues apparently caused him to make a terrible recorded message for his daughter. THAT much is verifiable. The rest of what YOU said about him is completely irrelevant, besides being implausible. It's good to know your RIGHTEOUS indignation is at full alert there Mr. Miller... For the sake of discussion, I assume you meant that you'd report a domestic violence incident in progress. Is that what you meant? Even though he was not in the same geographic location as his daughter? Me thinks this publicity has (hopefully) a dampening effect on his (tendency?) to express his anger like that... It IS a form of public accountability, after all.
  12. Hey MarkO... we miss you over in the politics forum... and on the subject of this thread... it's obviously dreadful that Baldwin left such a horrible message for his daughter. I can only hope that someday he's able to apologize to her in a way that will be meaningful to her.
  13. Then I'd figure that Ramblin' Dan would remember you... and probably enjoy hearing from you/knowing you're doing alright post-twi... his email addy is on his web site...
  14. I have ESP(n), and an HDTV... makes watching baseball on tv feel like you're in the front row of Fenway... you're welcome to come over. And yes... A-Rod's having quite the start to the 2007 season... has anyone tested his urine lately ( ;) )
  15. Youse guys know that the RedSox-Yankers game is on ESPN (in HD) as we speak (or as I write this). The Sox are wearing HIDEOUS green jerseys... apparently in honor of the Celtics (who, IIRC, stunk this year). But Schilling IS on the mound.
  16. I thought you already had somebody to ortho-to-mount you! (sorry, lame sense of humor I have sometimes ;) ) Is it okay to post to ourselves? Well, in response all I can do is pose this -- how can you be two places at once, when you're not anywhere at all? Okay, that's not ALL I can do... I now proclaim that whatever you do, do it with all your might! And have fun doing it! :) and as for a re-ONION, here in the Valley of the Sun, we meet ALL of your stated criteria... except the waves are artificial.... and it gets pretty doggone hot in the summer... but some of the Northern reaches of AZ are REAL nice in the summer.
  17. Bless me Father, for I have sinned! I have offended by clarifying -- for those reading this thread that I started -- that Mr. Miller's list was NOT exhaustive.
  18. Is THIS a sign? Is THIS the year for the Red Sox?
  19. If you have a microwave oven (who doesn't these days?), you can roast garlic in less than a minute and a half! A few years back, my daughter bought me a terra cotta garlic roaster (a small dish like bottom with a bell shaped cover). My favorite way to include garlic is to roast several cloves, chop them up (after roasting) and put the pieces on a pizza right before putting the pizza in the oven. Then I have "toasted roasted garlic"! It's wunnerful!
  20. I will NEVER, if I can help it, EVER purchase any Ford automobile again. In 1986, I purchased a 1983 Escort. It didn't take long for the first trouble to appear. It already had 63K miles on it, but the price was (theoretically) good. I had repeated troubles with the timing chain; problems with the engine cooling system... frequent over heating, even after I put a brand new radiator in it (a front wheel drive car, the radiator fan was driven by an electric fan, NOT by an engine shaft); and the REAL problem -- an electronic ignition device (not related to starting the engine, but with providing the spark to the spark plugs/cylinders). Ford even had what should have been a recall to fix the ignition device, but they did NOT, and the state of California ended up suing Ford (a class action, I believe) to get Ford to deal with this widespread problem. Ford denied, for years, the problem was theirs. The car pretty much died before I got 110K miles on the odometer. I ended up trading the Escort in when I bought a brand spanking new Nissan pickup in 1993 that I STILL drive (it has 182K miles on it) and it still runs just as well as it did when I first drove it off the dealer's lot. Bottom line -- I hate FORD cars. I understand Ford's pickup trucks (like the F-150) are well made. But NOT it's lower end passenger cars (like the Focus, which I've read also has widespread problems). I believe Zshot might know something about the Taurus model. And I wish I knew about Saturns. I see LOTS of them around... they seem to be pretty good cars. Have you checked with Consumer Reports? I understand you can also get a "CarFax" report on a particular unit you might be interested in...
  21. It's a list of SOME former twi musicians, etc. Not all. Ramblin Dan isn't on the list... I'd bet there are others also (who I do not know).
  22. I spent about 6 months in Biloxi... oh, about 34 years ago... (turned 19 while I was there)... but I suspect things don't look much now like they did when I was there....
  23. It IS just a little bit of a consolation... and let's hope HE thinks running for senator is a laughing matter. If he were more along the lines of Bill Bradley, I'd be a little less nervous about his political aspirations. Frankly, I think he likes to express his views, but doubt he'll want to put in the amount of work being a senator will require... especially while his kids are still young. He's always been a bit of a maverick when it comes to speaking out on baseball labor issues. btw, hiway and mstar... if you guys would lend some support over in wRonG's latest tirade about guns I would appreciate it! ;)
  24. Thanks for the link.... but GEE THANKS  for reminding me... I find his political views disturbing.
  25. Yes, Mstar... I do see what you mean about Red Sox fans... Perhaps Schilling will belong in The Hall (of Fame) simply for the fact that he provided a large part of the team leadership that took the Sox over the top of "the curse"! Not that Schilling was a slacker before that... I mean, HEY... WS 2001 CO-MVP! ;)
