  1. "You're so sweet, you're so fine. I want you all and ev'rything just to be mine, 'Cos you're my baby, 'cos you're my love." "You slide so good with bones so fair. You've got the universe reclining in your hair, 'Cos you're my baby, yes you're my love." "Just like a car you're pleasing to be hold. I'll call you Jaguar if I may be so bold, 'Cos you're my baby, 'cos you're my love." "Your motivation is so sweet. Your vibrations are all burning up my feet, 'Cos you're my baby, mmh, 'cos you're my love." "I said girl, I'm just a vampire for your love."
  2. I like dmiller's idea. However, I have my own suggestion. "Won't Get Fooled Again."

  4. I don't think it was thought through that well when vpw tried it. I think it was just another control mechanism. "When I SUGGEST something, you're to treat it like I ORDERED you to do it." But saying it outright would wake a few people up. So it's "stealthed" as an aphorism from the military (which it ISN'T.)
  5. And in the Green Berets it's not that simple, either. The officers are other highly-trained soldiers who worked their way up to being officers and thus the Green Berets know their Commanding Officer has earned the skills necessary to command their respect- he knows what they all know. Of course, vpw WANTED to make twi like the military, but he knew nothing about the military EXCEPT "the officer gives any order and the soldier automatically carries it out blindly." Which isn't even true to the degree vpw claimed it was, and there was always a lot more to it. All he knew about the military (he dodged the draft by becoming a minister) was what he saw in the movies. And he used THAT distorted lens to found his corps idea. Small wonder the initial group all seemed to offer him some sort of resistence- he fired them as a group. ("I gave them the privilege of leaving.") But, hey, it didn't matter WHAT terminology he used, all he wanted was the blind obedience ANYWAY.
  6. *checks* I don't think Todd Rundgren ever did a version of this song. However...

  8. I'm pretty sure we haven't done this one before. "Your motivation is so sweet. Your vibrations are all burning up my feet, 'Cos you're my baby, mmh, 'cos you're my love."
  9. The more we look at it, the more obvious it was that vpw just piled lies on top of more lies whenever he got the chance. Of COURSE he didn't know any Hebrew or Greek. He may have picked up a phrase here or there (we do that sometimes with other languages), but even after decades with twi, he didn't know GREEK, let alone HEBREW, and he never studied EITHER. (His degree was in HOMILETICS, which is a MUCH "softer" option than Bible languages.) But his claim that he tricked some honest Christians- and was lying about it- fits into his self-image. vpw imagined himself some sort of spiritual maverick who could continuously fool authorities and confound them, tweaking their noses without consequence, and somehow prospering while doing that. He imagined he was amazingly clever. Of course, all of that, lie though it was, set him up for the BIGGER lies about J.E. Stiles and how important vpw supposedly was......
  10. "Livin' on a Prayer". I think that was Bon Jovi.
  11. Funny to see such a SELECTIVE quote. Genesis 2:18 (NKJV) And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” (NASB) Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him." So, what did the LORD God do about it? Genesis 2:21-24 (NKJV) "21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." (NASB) "21So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. 23The man said, "This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man." 24For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." From this Rabbi's comment, one would think that God said "It's not good for man to be alone" and then endorsed any and all types of companionship. The LORD God seems to have set up a rather specific answer to this from the beginning. This Rabbi's entitled to his opinion, certainly, but he seems to disagree with the very passage he's quoting. (That's probably why he cut the very sentence in half. It's as honest as saying the Bible says "There is no God" because Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53:1 say "The fool has said in his heart,'There is no God.' ”) False Dilemma. There's more options than saying "You can either consider those who dedicate themselves to a specific sin as convenient scapegoats upon whom to blame all of America's ills" and "You must consider all positions and beliefs as equally valid, true and beneficial to self and society." In between are things like praying for adulterers while still saying they should "Go and sin no more", and so on. That's true of any sin. I see no reason to polarize the discussion of any sin to only the two polar opposites and leave out healthier approaches.... ....unless one means to distort the point of view one disagrees with and wishes to pretend one's own POV is the only one approaching reasonable by hiding the truth. That's neither logical, honest, nor compassionate to those who hold honest beliefs different to one's own. I wouldn't bring this up, but this Rabbi WAS the one who made the comparison in the first place.
  12. Here's how the quotes went... "Who is it?" "It's Idi Amin!" In Czechoslovakia, Winger about to spring the other soldiers. He knocks when he reaches the door. "No." "Oh,yeah." "No." "Ho ho yeah." "No." "Yeah." "No." "Yeah." "No." "Yeah." "No." "Yeah." "No." "Yeah." "No, John,no." "I'll drive." "OK." Winger and Russell arguing about whether or not to "borrow" the vehicle for the weekend to go hang out in Germany with the girls. "I wish I was a loofah." Captain Stillman. John Larroquette was told to improv the scene where his character was spying with the telescope. So, he just improvised that whole monologue. Including this line. When they ended the scene, the director came over and asked him "What the * is a loofah?" Your turn, George. And a bit sooner than I expected...
  13. Page-235, TWLiL (same book): ""We started the first Way Corps then, the fall of 1969, especially for that purpose, to prepare leaders. There were nine of them-some married, some single, younger and older. They stayed until the spring, and then I gave them the privilege of leaving. You see, they never got it together among themselves. They didn't have that commitment, that discipline." That was the so-called "Zero Corps."
  14. "Who is it?" "It's Idi Amin!" "No." "Oh,yeah." "No." "Ho ho yeah." "No." "Yeah." "No." "Yeah." "No." "Yeah." "No." "Yeah." "No." "Yeah." "No, John,no." "I'll drive." "OK." "I wish I was a loofah."
  15. Judge Reinhold Fast Times at Ridgemont High Sean Penn
  16. Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer. aka DAREDEVIL, the man without fear.
  17. Ok, Oak seems to be out of town or something. *checks* The episode is DS9's "Captive Pursuit." It's described by both George and Gen-2, but George got the earliest correct answer. So, it's George's turn. Unless he wants to step aside and let Gen-2 take it for a change.
  18. Thomas Crane! "Thomas" means "twin"- there's 2 halves to the brain, separated by the corpus callosum. "Crane" short for "cranium"- the bone that protects the brain (the skull).
  19. Right. That was the scene when I-gor first met the young Dr Frahnkensteen. Your turn.
  20. "My grandfather used to work for your grandfather. Of course, the rates have gone up."
  21. The REALLY funny part was when people started copying him with no idea what they were doing and WHY. So we had people putting out BROKEN mints on hand at their podiums. Because they had been putting BROKEN mints on hand at HIS podium. Which he eventually COMPLAINED about, since he could never find an INTACT mint (anymore). So, they said he said he broke the mints- at which point he clarified "I meant I break them in my mouth!" So, he broke open the intact mints in his mouth, so the center with the most powerful mint was exposed directly to his mouth, hiding the alcohol reek more quickly. Of course, he NEVER explained that he was hiding Drambuie smell, or that his "coffee" cup (like one obscure MASH character) was either alcohol or mixed with alcohol, but so many people knew SPECIFICALLY that he drank Drambuie all the time, and he even had locals go out and buy him a full bottle of it sometimes when he traveled. (Naturally, he expected them to pay for it. He expected not only to be able to dip his hand in the twi till, but for twi'ers to always pay his way everywhere at all times- as if they hadn't already paid by filling the twi till.) The more one learns about him, the more disgusting he sounds. The more one learns about him, the more thorough he sounds. (Couldn't just be A LITTLE disgusting- he covered his bases.)
  22. Must be that movie I didn't see with Tom Cruise about stopping a crime before it happened.... "Minority Report"???
