    Song of the moment

How about something to make you wanna' dance? Great production values? You bet! A moral message to boot? You betcha'! <P> <embed id=VideoPlayback src=http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=9002085385040727366&hl=en&fs=true style=width:400px;height:326px allowFullScreen=true allowScriptAccess=always type=application/x-shockwave-flash> </embed> sudo
  2. Paw, I was somewhat surprised to see how computer incompetent they are. I attended my last TWI fellowship around 1987 so I don't recognize the TWI of today. Their website is indicative of a small organization and from what I've read here at GSC, they are most likely now the size of a medium sized metropolitan church. Of course, they pretty much destroyed themselves with LCM's actions but GSC has to be the primary reason their numbers keep shrinking. You can be proud of yourself, Paw. I've been around here from the beginning and have enjoyed my sojourn immensely. I'll miss the place a lot but I think we'll still manage to keep in touch. Social networking. Friend of a friend contact. That sort of thing. And TWI? Just a shadow of the grand evil organization it used to be. sudo
  3. Funny how these children can remember the words to our national anthem yet a professional can't? Notice crowd reaction.. I think most folks would prefer to hear the kids, you think? Here's another one of the Cactus Cuties with better acoustics. <P> <object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKCVS57j284?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKCVS57j284?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKCVS57j284?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="390"></embed></object> sudo
  4. LOVED those cactus cuties! There was more embellishment there than that band director might would have liked but I don't think many would mind. But Christina's rendition just wasn't that good and wasn't enjoyable... despite that she flubbed some words. I was hoping she would just make it through without really massacring the song. sudo

    my attempt

That's the problem with screen names, Highway. This site will close and we'll never know the person's real name. We could even run into them at some event, talk to them and never know that we had posted each other on Greasespot. sudo (Daniel Bowden)
  6. Good to see you around Pirate. Played lots of Nostalgia stuff over the years didn't we? Now, with nearly everyone on high speed internet connections, its a yawner to post even YouTube videos... but back when WayDale and Greasespot started it was considered high tech to click on a link and hear music! I had a lot of fun doing it, too. sudo
  7. No wrong Karl! I was fooled once before but not again. Yeah, I was a true believer at one time but when there turned out to be no WayDale Heaven... then I decided to become a GSC Heaven agnostic. sudo
  8. Socks, New Years' is going to be sad around the 'spot. Auld Lang Syne will sound extra sad. A reminder that all things (good and bad) usually come to an end and memories are what remains. Yes.. a happy and prosperous new year to one and all. Hope is the fuel that drives our engines so here's hoping for the very best for one and all! sudo

    Chatty Kathy

Hi Chatty! Now I'm wondering who all else may make an appearance! sudo
  10. Mark, I know this wasn't directed at me but I'd like to say that I'm glad to see your font around here one more time. Yes, the GSC has been very useful in so many ways. We all learned so much more about that evil organization than we had imagined. I wonder how many more would have slipped into its grip these past years had the GSC not been there on the internet to warn them? I wouldn't be surprised when the history is written that Paul Allen and Paw get the biggest credits for shutting down the joint. sudo
  11. Raf, That's as it should be, IMO. You put in a lot of work with picking out the actual errors in PFAL. That had to have helped those who didn't want to know the truth about VPW but had to accept it after reading your thread. I could sense your outrage at having been duped through out. It had to have been cathartic for you. We've seen many come and go here at the GS.... They got their healing and peace then moved on. sudo

    what will it be..

Yeah, Krys.. just numbers but lesee... Number four looks good sudo
  13. Socks, I didn't realize I had been posting it often. I vaguely remember posting it once but I believe you if you say so. Its no wonder that groups with an agenda will try to skew the data to make it say what they want. Here's a link from an atheist group HERE! that you have to take with a grain of salt. However you want to look at the data, the numbers of non-religious in prison is very low. The point I was making is that the cop shouldn't have been surprised. Being Christian doesn't deter criminal activity. Memphis is currently glued to the trial of Jesse Dotson who is accused of the largest mass murder in Memphis history. On the news tonight was an officer testifying as to how he got a confession out of him. Seems Jesse in addition to being a gang member and having served time for 2nd degree murder is a Christian and believes in Heaven and Hell. Not that it proves anything but I find it interesting. sudo
  14. Wordwolf, Data incomplete? Of course...I didn't intend to post a dissertation. Just a little of the data that I've seen to make a point. Oh, you could look into this further but the data is pretty consistent and I don't think it would change your mind anyways. So just chew on it for a while. sudo
  15. I've had suspicions about some of those sites. I was in the market a while back for flea medicine and saw those "no prescription necessary" ads. Of course, this is the internet and 'buyer beware' applies to ANYTHING bought on-line. Pet meds obviously are no exception. sudo
  16. That cop shouldn't have been surprised at all now should he? After all.. the vast majority of convicts are Christian. Some Muslims but mostly Christian. Atheists make up some 10% of the American population.... but less than 1% of the prison population. In "The New Criminology", Max D. Schlapp and Edward E. Smith say that two generations of statisticians found that the ratio of convicts without religious training is about 1/10 of 1%. W. T. Root, professor of psychology at the Univ. of Pittsburgh, examined 1,916 prisoners and said "Indifference to religion, due to thought, strengthens character," adding that Unitarians, Agnostics, Atheists and Free-Thinkers are absent from penitentiariers or nearly so. During 10 years in Sing-Sing, those executed for murder were 65% Catholics, 26% Protestants, 6% Hebrew, 2% Pagan, and less than 1/3 of 1% non-religious. sudo :)
  17. I know nothing about what Victor Wierwille was told about his grandfather. Can you imagine having that name and knowing what evil his namesake committed? What was he told? Are we all liars? Was he "expected" to carry on religious work? I really could feel sorry for the guy if I knew how he was raised. sudo (soft in his old age)
  18. My initial reaction was the same as Sunesis'... I felt sorry for them. I wouldn't have listened to an old wizened head like mine when I was their age so I guess the only place they'll learn is exactly the place most of us learned... the School of Hard Knocks. I hear its even accredited now... at least as good as a degree from whatever that place was VPW obtained his "doctorate". sudo
  19. Hey Plots! You can't quite wash that greasespot out completely can you? just had to peek in again, huh? Good to see you. I often wonder about folks who I got to know fairly well but never actually met face to face. Isn't that an odd thing? In ways, I feel I know some online acquaintances better than people I actually interact with in the work place. You seem to fit well in your skin shepherding your flock and enjoying your family. Pax seems to be upon you! sudo

Hiya' you 'ole submariner! Maybe more folks like us who never leave? For good anyways. Zizar posted several months back but only briefly. I guess once you've hashed and re-hashed all our experiences with Der Way it starts to get boring. I stick around to see how everybody's doing. sudo

Jerry, I hang out but just don't post much any longer. So many folks come through here and then we never see them again only to be replaced with a new crowd. And then THEY disappear. Its the way of things, I guess. sudo

The important thing is that things are much much better. Great. I'd stand on my head and scratch my butt if that was working too. But hey! Doncha' know? It wasn't EFT that helped.. it was all that god beseeching and tongue speaking that did it! Hee-hee! sudo (glad that SOMETHING worked)

This thread raised my curiosity so I Googled around and found a Wikipedia article on EFT. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emotional_Freedom_Technique Not surprisingly, its the equivalent to alternative medicine. That is, its non-scientifically based... like chiropractic and homeopathy. These types of things are usually harmless enough when dealing with minor problems like colds and sinus stuffiness. For life threatening conditions like cancer I have no problems using laetrile or whatever whenever conventional medicine has nothing to offer.. like terminal cancer. Unfortunately it almost never works. Jerry's family problem was like that terminal cancer case.. a serious condition that wasn't responding to conventional treatment. Of course, there are always lots of people who go to religious "healing" services and are cured of all sorts of ailments. They are jumping up and down jubilant and shouting hallelujah while at the revival meeting only to have symptoms return shortly thereafter. To determine if a treatment really works.. you HAVE to test it. Testimonies are not that reliable. sudo
