  1. I think it's Yankee talk for a submarine sandwich. There's a restaurant chain here called OJ Grinders. Like Subway serves. WG
  2. You guys are so helpful! Thanks, each and every one of you. I am going to print this off at the end of the day and definitely get into some of the more natural things suggested. I think the problem is aggravated by being out in the sun. I also think it is the weirdest damm thing that's ever happened to me. I'm gonna go see my doctor this week, not the same one who prescribed this Lipitor crap, but a primary care physician. I will also see about the Q-10 one of you suggested, it is even getting allopathic attention. Will report back any news. Love and thanks to each of you! WG
  3. Oh darn that makes me so sad! I just love Ann and Alan to pieces. We have known them since they first took PFAL! They are sooo wonderful and if anyone communicates with them, we still love them! WG
  4. thanks ya'll. Tom, I think Cortaid is a cortisone product. Cwester, I got off it after 2 weeks. This is 2 months later. I agree a lot of the anti-cholesterol medication necessity is myth. Galen, Nice to hear from you. How was Maine? I have a script for Pravachol, am trying south Beach Diet instead. I probably wouldn't worry about any of this, except I am diabetic and thus more prone to heart attacks anyway. Did they ever say anything about staying out of the sun? I was told to stay out of the sun and not drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit. Or drink alcohol. WG "I'd rather be in the boat with a drink on the rocks than be in the drink with a boat on the rocks."
  5. I hope I am not the only poster here who is of an age when doctors attempt to start their patients on every drug known to mankind , especially cholesterol lowering agents. About 2 months ago, I was started on Lipitor, and I have had problems ever since. I knew nothing about it, other than the very good marketing techniques the pushers use to get doctors to prescribe it. I only took it about 2 weeks. My joints and muscles ached like he!! and my skin dried and starting itching. I called and they told me to stop it. I did so and after about another week or so the aching stopped, BUT... I have this freaking dried skin, itching rash on arms, legs, shoulders and back that won't go away. I am scratching like a hound dog! The sun makes it worse, as I start to sweat and it stings where the skin is broken. It waxes and wanes, appearing to get better in one area, then worse somewhere else! I am going to give up and see my family practitioner next week. I have gone through every moisturizer Mary Kay cosmetics have to offer, used hydrocortizone and benadryl, and it aint' getting no better. I have been off the darn drug for 6-8 weeks and I would think it would clear up. I've also just changed laundry soap. But my main question is if anyone else has had problems with cholesterol lowering drugs. Any comments, suggestions, questions or anything? Am I alone in my itchiness or achiness? scratchingly yours, WG
  6. Welcome! There's a thing here somewhere about TWI doctrine you might find interesting. The foundational class from the late 1960's to the mid 1990's was PFAL, Power for Abundant Living. Some of the more clever spots call it piffle. Some call it worse, some consider it God-breathed. Enjoy your stay! WG
  7. Memmmm'ries Like the colors of my mind Pretty water color memories of the waaaayyy we were.... Aww, now I'm all gushy. Dave was and undoubtedly still is.. such a nice guy! WG
  8. Tref, an amusing (I hope) story of "the OlD White House on the Hill" (which I actually kind of liked): In 1977, the year I was married, our LC had acquired an instrumental version of the album which contained that song and was using it as prelude music for weddings. So I agreed to let it be used for ours, since there weren't any lyrics to confuse the non-Way family members who would attend. We were supposed to march up the aisle to Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, but the sound guy got confused, and after an agonizing moment of silence at the bottom of the aisle, I marched to my marriage ceremony to the instrumental version of "the Old White House on the Hill." I'm sure my husband and I both had a "what the hell is THIS?" look on our faces! But that was nearly 28 years ago. We've recovered nicely, I'd say. WG
  9. Ted, I loved your music and you! Still do BTW. God bless you big times! WG
  10. #1: Ohio IS beautiful! It's that place up north that you non-Buckeyes are confusing us with! ;)--> Eph 6:10 (?) was the theme verse one year and some poor souls had to write choruses on the theme "Be Strong in The Lord". No offense, but some of them were awful. Beeeeee strong in the Lord and the pow-er of His might. Beeeee strong in the Lord. Be strong be strong be str-o-ng in the Lord and the pow-er of His Might. I dunno. I think they weakened my memory or soemthing. And "I will not be afraid" with all those screeching high notes.
  11. They can take their declaration of mark and avoid on me and put it where the sun don't shine! I'm only concerned about being marked and avoided by the Lord Jesus Christ. He says he will never leave me nor forsake me. I like his company a lot better than hangin' with the BOD and their minions, oh but then I never was worthy to associate with any the "elite" of TWI. I'm a happy camper without those guys. So maybe I'll just mark and avoid them! :)--> WG
  12. Lucky you! I thought anyone who even left voluntarily was eventually M&A. I was sent the magazine for several months after I left. Finally wrote and cancelled the subscription, which had been a 2-year subscription, and requested a refund of the remaining funds. That was the last I heard from them. (Yes, I realize no secular magazine would issue a refund, but I think that's dishonest, too).
  13. And, she's helping to build their new house!
  14. It's hard, isn't it? One of my big questions when I had 6 months of therapy back in 2000 was learning to trust again. I trusted my husband. Period. I think in TWI, especially in the 90's on, we were encouraged to "share our hearts" with others, and it came back to bite us in the behind when they trotted right to leadership with our confidences and we were then confronted. I have learned that that is the norm with some people. They curry favor by carrying tales. It's happened to me here at work, too. Trusting God is a whole nother issue, too.
  15. "Let him who is without sin among you cast the first stone" The point was, Jesus Himself was without sin. He could have cast the first stone. He of all the people there was the One righteous judge of that woman. And He chose not to. What a Savior!
  16. I was in in '73 out in '96. Doesn't sound like things got any better post-LCM. In the 70's we never knew what was going to happen next. We were dedicated to loving people where they were at any given moment, and taking care of them. When I ran a twig before I went out WOW, I sat on the floor to teach because I didn't want to be enthroned. I read somewhere that one member of the body was not to be esteemed more highly than any other. ;)--> Guess I was wrong about that, huh? We never disbanded without asking every being there if there was anything we could do to help them with anything, prayer requests were not taken lightly. There were probably times when I even forgot to pray for the MOG. He was doin' okay, but my buddy sitting across the room just lost his job. He was in need. Later when I was married, my husband and I would go rescue someone who had a car break down in the middle of the night; heck, we gave away three cars when we were in SC. We did everything we could for people. Maybe we were wrong. Maybe we should have sold those cars and sent the money to LCM & co. But I don't think so. I think TWI is wrong. There's no joy there any more. Too much control. No godliness, just a form of it. RUN EVERYBODY! Get out of there now! WG
  17. How many individuals who were kicked out of TWI were mandatorily forgiven for offenses such as owning a pet or a house or whatever caused them to be M&A? How many received "love and prayers" rather than screeching condemnation, slander and total ostracism? WG
  18. Welcome, there's no place like home! And thanks for your insightful post. WG
  19. It always amazes me the way medical science is growing by leaps and bounds. That article said it was usually cured with Acyclovir. We didn't even have acyclovir or anything like it in 1972. As far as I personally am concerned any time anyone gets healed of something that nasty, let alone the nasty things like cancer we see so much, it's a miracle. WG
  20. Oaks, I knew there was no verse like that. Don't know if you're a Gibson fan or not, but the Droit de Seignure (sp?) was practiced in Braveheart, too. It was what set him off. He and his girl secretly married so that the local lord, a sleezeball if there ever was one, could never get his hands on the new bride. When the lord found out, he slit her throat to get Wallis out of hiding. And got killed as a result hissownself. WG
  21. The Howard Allen story is true. I was there and I don't feel called upon to discuss it, but he was indeed in dire straits, did indeed recover. Whether it was the medical team or the cold-pressed juices (including beet juice), who knows? Either way, it was a miracle. WG
  22. See? You apologized! I bet it only hurt for a minute, and then it felt just great! (My apologies to The Gipper for that paraphrase) WG
  23. What Jesus said to the Phariseeswas "Let him among you who is without sin cast the first stone." She knew she was wrong. What she needed was forgiveness and direction. Jesus met her need, on the spot. What an example of God's forgiving grace and love! I think that's what I'd rather focus on from here on out. WG
  24. Still waiting for book, chapter and verse on "all of the women in the kingdom belong to the king." Or an admission that it isn't in there. See VPW said that in PFAL. Could he have (gasp) been WRONG?
  25. Still haven't seen book, chapter and verse on "all the women of the kingdom belonged to the king." I'm not talkin' about PFAL book, chapter, and verse. I'm talking about The Bible, book chapter and verse. Put up or shut up, please. PFAL is NOT synonymous with the Bible. Oh, what about the woman taken in adultery who was brought before Jesus? Did He condemn her?
