  1. Dooj, the same thing happened to me then and when he said Styles spoke to his wife so disrespectfully. Thanks for putting it into words. I've thought about it many times and remember thinking then he wasn't someone I should be associated with. What do they say about knee-jerk reactions/first impressions, etc.? We apparently learned not to trust our gut reactions during our first classes. Interesting.

    Seminary

Therapon University has been blessed, and we have passed the accrediting test of one of the fastest growing accrediting agencies in the country millhouse? figgers...
  3. oh gosh, how did you find that adorable little guy, Chas?
  4. Love it, Oakspear. But, I never knew JC was supposed to be God until The Way even though my denomination believed in the trinity. They never taught it. So, I wasn't unhappy with the doctrines. What I didn't like was the judgmentalism and the better than thou attitude by the people who went every Sunday. Maybe what I was looking for and thought I'd found was the love of Jesus, not pharisaical snobbery.
  5. I wonder about that sometimes, too, Paw, but more about if the dead go somewhere right away or sleep for a long time. I mean, where do our souls go to "rest" until Christ returns if spirit returns to spirit?
  6. (((((pond))))) Be careful, sweetie, and make sure you drink lots of H2O.
  7. ...ah, don't tell anyone, but Pawtucket had a rich twice-removed fifth cousin who recently, ah, you know, and left him all of his money.... my bad :o no, really, ah, he won the lottery and invested the proceeds to greasespot perpetually and.... no, that wasn't it... yeah, i wonder why were they removed?????

  11. It's so hot, the chickens are laying hard-boiled eggs. It's so hot, the thermometer moved into the shade. OK< these aren't original, lol. It is HOT in Indy? How hot is it where you live?????
  12. You make a good point, Geo. Reminds me of a saying: I've never been mauled by a wild animal that I wasn't at least standing close to its cage.
  13. Forgive them all? Yes, I think so. I hold no antimosity against anyone. I believe everyone comes into our lives for a reason. Sometimes the reason is I haven't learned my lesson yet and let people walk all over me by being naieve enough to believe they are a godly person because they can quote a lot of Bible verses and discuss life seemingly intelligently. But, I have no qualms about warning people what to expect if they bring up a particular group that I've had experience with.
  14. Great information, sirguessalot! This is why it's so hard to be friends with lots of ex-ways. For some reason, many still continue the "spiritual hierarchy" in their minds in every relationship. Too bad for them. Friends are important to have.
  15. Hi Roses, Welcome to gsc! So nice to “see” you here. I’ve read all of the comments and particularly agree with Oakspear about all of us individually keeping different parts of our twi teachings and being comfortable with that. Even if it’s agreeing the proper way to set a formal table (for those here who no longer profess Christianity), we still retain parts of our way training. I agree with Shifra about the parts that are important in a church and looked for one like that for a long time but didn’t find one. That’s ok now because I no longer think I have to go to church every Sunday or at all if I don’t feel led to do so. I still pray exactly the same amount and fellowship with my Lord Jesus Christ, God Almighty, and hopefully, the Holy Spirit. I haven’t gotten into arguments with anyone for many, many years about Bible doctrines because it is so fruitless and not what Jesus asked us to do. “You will know them by their love” resonates loud and clear. I believe loving people is what it’s all about. I was only ever in it for the Bible knowledge/helping people aspect, anyway, or so I thought, but found the longer I stuck around, the more co-dependent I became on the group. That is what felt so lacking once I left. I was used to being part of a group. So, I kept trying to replace that with two way off-shoots. After being burned by the second, I was cured! I thank God for that everyday! LOL! The leaders of that group helped me to wake up by continuing their way practices by gossiping about everyone who attended their meetings. After several of us stuck our heads together, we discovered we’d been supporting The Way, in practice, all over again. What a revelation! We had been doing the same things over and over again and were expecting different results! If that’s what you feel you need, is “Way-lite,” then go for it. But, I suspect since you’re on this board you’re searching for real answers. Personally, I haven’t been this happy—ever. I still retain friendships with others who were in The Way and only those who don’t need an artificial hierarchy in their relationships. In other words, I don’t stay in touch with people who still have way-thinking to the extent that they have to function as either the leader or the follower in every relationship. That is not friendship. I had a false sense of responsibility also for many years. Thank God I no longer see myself as responsible for anyone but myself! And, isn’t that what the Bible was trying to tell us when the veil was broken the day of the crucifixion? We have direct access to God. He really does hear us! Well, have a cuppa on me. Blessings, Roses!
  16. I'm pretty sure you'll get your wish, RG and Bumpy. Afterall, Jesus comes back riding a white horse (remember Revelation, the book we were told wasn't important because it wasn't in our administration?).
  17. You're a sweetie. I'm so happy for you :-)
  18. hummmm.... deep tissue massage always does it for me....
