it's gotta be "Five O'clock World" at least I think that's the name. it was the theme to Drew Carey Show for a year or two

You are correct sir.

It is also part of the soundtrack for The Big Fish, a quirky but entertaining movie from a couple years ago.

It was done originally by The Vogues. I think it was recorded in about 1965 or thereabouts.

Sounds like another good country song. My son loves country music, so I listen to it often with him. But this one just not sounding familar. Sounds like a one night stand is in the works.

Sittin at a tiny table

In a ritzy restaurant

She was starin' at her coffee cup

He was trying to keep his courage up

by applying booze

The talk was small

When they talked at all

They both knew what they wanted

There was no need to talk about it

They were old enough to scoff it out

And keep it loose

I was wondering if I needed to give some more hints

Thanks AD

ok one last hint

Sittin' at a tiny table

In a ritzy restaurant

She was starin' at her coffee cup

He was tryin' to keep his courage up

By applying booze

The talk was small

When they talked at all

They both knew what they wanted

There was no need to talk about it

They were old enough to scoff it out

And keep it loose

She said, you don't look like my type

But I guess you'll do

....

Low rent rendezvous

He said, I'll even tell you

That I love you

If you want me to

Thanks for posting the tune. Have never heard it.

I think I'm up, so I'll post these lyrics. The previous lyrics reminded me of this song. Thinking of this couple always breaks my heart.

When the drink finally hit her

She said I'm no quitter

But I finally quit living on dreams

I'm hungry for laughter

And here ever after

I'm after whatever the other life brings

sounds like Jimmy Buffet

edit: Lucille

"you picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille,

with four hungry children and a crop in the field..."

Is that it? Kenny Rogers?

av-1108.gifahh... from his "rock and roll" First Edition days... I always thought the title was

I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in

but don't know if that's it... seems awfully long for a title...

Very good Tom! YOU'RE UP!

the title, officially is one of those parenthisized ones:

Just Dropped In (to see what condition my condition was in)

Here's the original, with two mods having fun lipping it:

This was Kenny before he went "mainstream." Or what it?

Tripping was mainstream when he recorded this!

ate the brown acid, eh, Tom?
