Name that Tune

I actually gave money to a friend who was supposed to get me on some type of satellite radio, but he hasn't yet. And I'm not anxious in the least. Don't know if I'll have the time to listen to it. Then again, maybe I might. Nothing new under the sun? For me, Joni Mitchell said it all in 1973, but then again, she is a goofball... who believes Nietze?

A.D.

I have an XM boombox at work. I listen to it through the day while I'm working but I don't focus my attention on it.

I also just bought a new tuner that I keep in my pick-up truck. It cost me a whopping $38 at Wally-Mart.

It has everything needed to listen to XM. It takes about 5 minutes(max.) to hook up.

You can also stream it on your computer if that's more your style.

They have over 100 music channels(no commercials). They have channels that are decade specific.(40s/50s/60s/70s,etc.) as well as channels that are genre specific(folk/bluegrass/classic country/ modern country/blues/ modern jazz/old school jazz, etc.)

The 60s channel is pretty cool because they have an actual DJ come on between songs just like in the 60s.

Plus, they air Wolf Man Jack shows.

You can give it a free test ride if you want. Google xmradio.com and you can get info on how to do it.

I've had it for quite a while and regular radio seems really lame when I try to listen to it.

Beware, though, there is no censorship but they will block any channel you ask them to.

Don't know a title, but sounds kinda like a Goo Goo Dolls tune. One of my daughter's played lots of them a few years ago, and they have been to the Memphis in May Music Festival a few times. Their music was pleasant, got to where I could sing along with some of them. Just never knew song titles.

Suda

Suda being the first to correctly name the artist,

and since it's obvious nobody's going to get the title at this point,

I'm passing the baton to Suda.

The artist is the Goo Goo Dolls, the song is "Slide."

(I was hoping the last quote would trick a memory, since I dropped a quote just before one of the

places the word "slide" appears.)

Serves me right for breaking my "pre-1986" personal rule.

Ok, Suda, your turn.

And those of you, who, like me, object to subscription radio,

can always STREAM radio stations through your internet connection.

You don't need anything more complicated, than, say, Windows Media Player

or the equivalent.

AFAIK, most radio stations you can pick up SOMEWHERE on broadcast also have an

internet stream to pick them up on. I keep getting surprised NEWS stations have one.

Me, I sometimes listen to a radio station in CANADA I like.

WW, you object to subscription radio for what reason?

Do the streaming ones have commericials or not? I tried one once and it was too much trouble... maybe it's better now

pre-86 would definitely put me more in the running. Pre-74 even moreso (the year I first went WOW) <_<

Ooops, sorry, didn't realize it was my turn. Let me think here . . .

In a Gospel mood tonight.

Oh Lord my God when I in awesome wonder

Consider all the worlds thy hands have made

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder

Thy power throughout the universe displayed

This was my favorite song by this particular performer. Not the most often played, but you've probably heard it.

Again, not in order:

Sweetie pie before you say goodbye

Remember if he ever leaves you high and dry

Don't cry alone in pain, don't ever feel ashamed

Oh I can see there ain't no room for me

You're only holding out your heart in sympathy.

I'll be strong, I'll try to carry on;

Although you know it won't be easy when you're gone.

Sounds like maybe The 4 seasons.

No idea on the title.

ps. Could find the falsetto option so I had to post this in my regular voice.

Neither "Walk like a Man" nor "Don't Worry Baby" is correct, although the latter choice is close to the "unofficial" title. Here's the whole song, with the unofficial title words excised:

Oh I can see there ain't no room for me

You're only holding out your heart in sympathy

If there's another man, then girl I understand

Go on and take his hand and ....

I'll be blue and I'll be crying too

But girl you know I only want what's best for you

What good is over-pride if our true love has died

Go on and be his bride and ....

I'll be strong I'll try to carry on

Although you know it won't be easy when you're gone

I'll always think of you, the tender love we knew

But somehow I'll get through so ....

Oooh, baby

Sweetie pie before you say goodbye

Remember if he ever leaves you high and dry

Don't cry alone in pain, don't ever feel ashamed

If you want me again just ....

I love you no matter what you do

I'll spend my whole life waiting if you want me to

And if he says good-bye you know I'd rather die

Than let you see me cry cause then ....

I'll be strong I'll try to carry on

Although you know it won't be easy when you're gone

I'll always think of you, the tender love we knew

But somehow I'll get through so ....

George
