One thing I'm pretty sure of. If you still believe that saying "Lo Shanta" guarantees you a first class ticket to Shambala, you may want to revise your flight plans.
-
Well, I'll be. Just when you think you've seen every contradiction in PFAL. In one place he says that a born-again believer can't get possessed. But here the implication is that they can. -------------------------------------------------------- "The speaking in tongues is real," he said, (indicating they were born-again because, supposedly, that's the only way it could be "real") "but the handling of snakes is devilish." (indicating they were possessed by devil spirits---according to page 14 of the advanced class syllabus, which talks about snake charmers being possessed)

Hey!! This doesn't look like Adolph's Tavern!!!
-
But, then again, he seemed to be stuck on those same two or three phrases, didn't he? Can you be just a little bit born again? You know. Like being just a little bit pregnant?
-
Well, he did have that Lo Shanta thing going on. And, he said ,himself, that the Lo Shanta thing was proof. Of course, that's one of those circular reasoning kind of things. ....ma laka see tay.....

Yep. That's right. That's where it stood before I drifted off on my journey to some distant planet.
-
If that's what it's really about, I'm not so sure I want any part of it. Of course, that would also change my "not sure" into a "yes" in reference to VPW.
-
I'm not sure anymore exactly what "born again" really means. Maybe it's some kind of figurative expression. I don't know. One thing I do know; his life surely didn't represent an ability to start afresh. He just continued on in his same old devious and perverted ways until the Drambuie ran out. So, in that sense, he was never "born again".
-
Yeah. VPW was the original "hybrid" He sure got a lot of mileage out of that "vehicle" he created.
-
The sad reality is that the case is never closed.

John, you've been posting here for a decade. Do you still not understand the concept of making your posts more readable? Use the quote function. Use the bold option. Use different colors. Use something. Anything. If you want people to take you seriously, make a serious effort to be more easily understood.

Sorry, Tony. As I re-read my post, I realize it sounds condescending. I didn't mean for it to be, but I apologize for not communicating in a clearer fashion. Like Sudo, I no longer believe in devil spirits. (At least not in the sense that they were taught in The Way.) I think there is some sort of symbolism connected to these devil spirit references in the Bible. I also think there are a lot of things in the Bible that are not to be taken literally. I don't subscribe to the concept of inerrancy. Once I allowed myself to accept that there really are contradictions and inconsistencies in the Bible, it became easier to accept the value of the wisdom associated with what some would say are fables. In other words, some lessons increased in value rather than diminish. That is one of the refreshing benefits of not trying to make everything fit together "like a hand in a glove".

I find it hard to believe he didn't realize he was lying when he plagiarized and claimed the works he put his name on were his own. Did he really not realize some of those writings were word-for-word replications of other authors?

quote: Hi, I'm Joe Beats. Hey, what chance does a returning, deceased war veteran have for that good paying job, more sugar and the free mule you've been dreaming of? Well, think it over.....then take off your shoes. Now you can see how increased spending opportunities mean harder work for everyone.

I mean, they probably looked up and said stuff like, "Wow that's bright!" and stuff like that but, let's face it---they were naked as a jaybird.----know what I mean?

How do we know Adam and Eve gave any special thought to the meaning of the constellations?

quote: Maybe it's just me. When I see that jumbled mess, where you can't tell where one person's quote ends and the next person's quote begins, I lose my desire to consider the contents seriously. quote: If someone really expected to be taken seriously, they would make an effort to make their posts more readable. Well, maybe it's a debul spurt thing.

I don't think John is a troll. I think he simply hasn't realized yet these tired old tactics no longer fly in this venue, despite his having 11 years of posting experience to serve as a primer.

John This is a complete straw man argument. And, I don't believe it's accidental. You purposely changed my point. (That point being that VPW said he "would never condemn anyone again".) You misrepresented my position to make it appear that I was accusing you of believing what VPW said was God breathed. Why did you do that? I'll tell you why. You changed my position because you could not realistically deny that VPW made that statement in the PFAL book, so you invented a position you knew you could effectively defend. I listed a link that clearly demonstates Wierwille did not honor that promise. Read the link and then address the issue head on. "And remember, if you can't learn to get along with the other kids, you may discover they no longer want to play with you.".....My kindergarten teacher told me that a long time ago. edit: Have you figured out a way to show where your quotes start and end yet?

"You see, class, you've got to stand on that Word, even if know one believes it..... because......When it comes to the Word, you have no friends."......etc., etc., etc. How many thousands of times, in how many different ways, was this same basic message hammered into our heads? Defend the doctrine (as defined by Wierwille) and forsake your individuality for the survival of the group. It's no wonder we still see people bulldozing their way around facebook and other sites, parroting PFAL phrases and trying to whip folks back into submission.
