  1. My original line of thinking wasn't really questioning whether or not there are Biblical parallels. There obviously are. My question was more about the "why?". "Why" do we feel, in make making comparisons, that the comparisons need to be Biblical at all?
  2. In this dirty old part of the city, where the sun refuse to shine......
  3. Twinky In order to understand the literal meaning according to colloquial usage, you need to juxtapose the ch and f and add a pesky little comma in the appropriate position to suggest that someone is being addressed. (It's especially topical when viewed in light of the current "Sheen Shenanigans".)
  4. Shudder! The greatest cargoes in life come over==================
  5. And there is an analogy (or is it simile or maybe hypercacastasis?) that you can see here if you've been saying your Lo Shanta's faithfully, too. The prison bars represent the great truths, hidden in that wonderful collateral, "Release From Your Prisons". Yes, that's it. You, too, can have something completely different if you will focus clearly on an image of a fish. ('cause fish are Biblical, you see.)
  6. Do you see the spiritual reference in this? See, God is using the parable of the oafs and fishes to teach us great truths.
  7. One of my favorite lines from PFAL: "Even if you get to heaven and find out it's not there, I will have had one kick azz time riding my motor scooters." ........................................ Oops! Sorry John. We seem to have derailed "your" thread. You've taught us well.
  8. And who can forget this old T.V.ad for PFAL? "I'm not a real doctor but I play one at Rock of Ages."
  9. I can't begin to even tell you all the great spiritual truths God taught me while I was marking all my dechomai's and lambano's. (Think how especially wonderful that is, when you consider that the D&L concept has been shown to be based on faulty "research".) And all those hours spent putting my big HS's and little hs's in my Zondervan Bible with the specially made leather cover, complete with the holy spirit dove, descending at the ministry approved angle, is time I'll always treasure, as I reflect on the highlights of my precious memories.
  10. I never noticed until just now that it says "with", not "by". Sheesh. That could have simplified those old plagiarism threads a bit, ya know?
  11. Oh, yeah, Dr. Lininger. Wasn't he the president of The University of Chicago or something? Or was it Harvard? Ahhhhh...I have here in front of me a PFAL syllabus. .................................... POWER for abundant living with Dr. Victor Paul Wierwille Copyright, The Way Inc., 1968 .................................................
  12. Are you sure? 'cause I could have sworn I heard him being introduced as "Dr." Wierwille. I mean, if he wasn't really a "Dr.", surely he would have insisted that people stop introducing him like that, no?
  13. my job was to get those classes together and run twigs that grew and split. THAT is how I knew I was successful. I was in a limb town with a limb coordinator breathing down my back. He pushed me to run classes. After all, that is what I was there to do!!! It wasn't about moving the word...it was about running PFAL classes...the two are in no way synonymous. Exactly----It says as much right there in the Witnessing and Undershepherding syllabus on page 2. "The basic reason we witness is to help people into the classes on Power For Abundant Living and help them to walk on it."
  14. Hey, there T.Z. Welcome to the party!
  15. Casting Pearls Before Swine.
  16. Here's the irony, Ham. VP (You know he wasn't really a Dr., don't you?) Wierwille used guilt to bully people into submission using the premise that, if they would submit to the MOG, they would, indeed, find refuge in a safe harbor. How did that one pan out?
  17. I spent 4 years of my life, married to one of Gary's TWI "kids". I know lots of details that I feel no compulsion to share. So, don't go assuming I'm just spouting off about something I read on Greasespot.
  18. I was around when it happened. I remember it quite clearly. VP used guilt and fear to bully people into submission. He went as far as to call John Neve (the driver) a murderer, straight to his face. He used guilt to get his way. Period. edit: The message he sent was "Do exactly as the MOG commands or horrific consequence will befall you and your loved ones". Wouldn"t want to be guilty of bringing harm to your loved ones, now would you?
  19. Hahaha! Yeah, that one is quoted in PLAF (The Wonder Class), too.
  20. Posted 09 May 2008 - 06:07 PM The death of this woman was certainly tragic. It amazes me how anyone could deny any resposibility on the part of VPW. From Karl Kahler's Book. Quote "Dunhoff died anyway. Wierwille called a meeting to announce his death. Then, said Desmond, Wierwille told everyone who had cheated on the colon cleanse to raise their hands. Then he told everyone who knew about the cheating to raise their hands. Everyone with a hand in the air, he said, was directly responsible for Gary Dunhoff's death." The aboove refers to the death of Gary Dunhoff who died as a result of a car accident while he was out "cheating" on the colon cleanse by eating some cookies. Wierwille held anyone who cheated on, or even knew about any cheating on the notorious colon cleanse "directly responsible for Gary Duhoff's death". So we have Wiwerwille, who cheated on his wife (adultry) while taking sexual advantage of a member of his flock, and as a result of of this, the woman commits suicide. Yet somehow, according to Oldiesman, Wiereille bears no responsibility. Oldiesman, in light of the above, please explain how and why Wierweille can hold these folks "directly responsible" for the death of Gary Dunhoff, and yet somehow not himself be directly responsible for the death of Sandra Sullivan. I await your reply. This post has been edited by Goey: 09 May 2008 - 06:09 PM Goey Many of my fondest memories in TWI... never really happened. SOURCE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yes, there's your Wierwille who, supposedly, never used guilt to bully people into submission.
  21. Well, it reminds me of the episode where Principle Poop addresses the More Science High School student body at the pep rally."My fellow kids......."
  22. I'm fairly certain it's in session #5.
