songs remembered from just one line
waysider replied to bulwinkl's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
I might be ancient but the tune is ageless. It's your turn, Gen-2. -
I quit "smoking" back when buckskin jackets were all the rage. I smoked one more time in about 1980. Got sicker than a dog. I think it was that stuff that was treated with paraquat. That sealed the deal for me.

Why did Geer's Patriarch Paper "rock our world?"
waysider replied to skyrider's topic in About The Way
I left in 1990. Just sort of drifted out to sea, unnoticed. My twig leaders, at the time, were old-timers from the very early days. They were genuinely good people, really. But, they surely must have know much more than they ever let on to. I don't mean about the sex and drinking, etc., I mean about the PooP paper. Maybe it was as shocking to them at the time as it was to me when I found out. -

I'll bet there are STILL people whose world gets "rocked" when they come here and read the darn thing themselves for the very first time and contrast it to the information that is here. HERE -

Yeah---that, too. -
As you pointed out earlier, the conquest seems to be a key factor. A hunter can't expect to garner much success by trouncing through the woods, clanging pots and pans to announce his approach.

I do. I just wish I could explain "why?". -
Well, thanks to modern technology and the presence of GSC, their "dirty laundry" is hanging on the line, out in the open, where all can see.

Why did Geer's Patriarch Paper "rock our world?"
waysider replied to skyrider's topic in About The Way
You know, when this thing was originally read, the reality of what The Way was really all about was still cloaked in secrecy. Trying to read this tripe after discovering what a lecherous drunk Wierwille was and what a boot-licking toady Geer was is almost surrealistic. page 5 "Dr. Wierwille was a wonderful man, a "man of God" in the truest and fullest sense. I saw him give his utmost for God's highest day after day in his life and finally in his death. And, I should know. I lived; I worked; I took care of the man and his heart for years." <_< -
I agree. And, I think people who smugly proclaim, "It couldn't happen to me!" are probably sitting ducks because of their pride and vanity.

It kinda makes me wonder if, a thousand years from now, it will be seen as some kind of profoundly relevant epistle. "Thus saith Geer." -

It's evil, wicked, mean and nasty-- NOTE: Not the first line of the song -

I never even knew about the "poop" paper until I stumbled on GSC. I was pretty flabergasted when I read it. http://www.greasespotcafe.com/main2/waydale/waydale-miscellaneous/passing-of-the-patriarch.html -

I knew it couldn't be mine because the title cannot appear in the quoted line. I just posted it because I always thought it was a very cool tune. -

did you ever hear wierwille speaking in tongues and/or interpret ?
waysider replied to excathedra's topic in About The Way
Oh, I don't feel bad. In fact, I feel quite enlightened about the whole matter. -

Not only did I never hear VPW speak in tongues/interpret, I never even saw him make a personal appearance, of any sort, whatsoever, during my multiple-year stay at The Way of Ohio, which, figuratively speaking, was "just down the road". All you Paul (who traveled extensively) comparison buffs can just put that in your pipe and smoke it. -

My own personal theory is that "excellor sessions" were not intended to expand your fluency; they were intended to enhance theatrical appeal. -

Have you ever thought about this? If God wanted you to "practice" speaking in tongues out loud, because the sounds were foreign to your native tongue, (ie: French does not have a "ch" sound, Chinese speakers have trouble with the letter "R', etc.) why didn't He just have you speak in a language that was more suitable to the natural speech configurations you were used to? Along those same lines, why was it "your" tongue, in the first place? If it really came from God, couldn't He give you a different one each time? I'm just sayin'. -
In my opinion, THIS is the definitive version. edit: Recorded in 1958 with open mic. technique.-----no overdubs

With so little to use for comparison, how would anyone know? -
We used to have to sing that stuff at dinner in FLO, hand motions and all.. Picture that, if you dare, fifty grown people singing kiddie songs. Roll Away was bad enough, all by itself.
