Kind of like when we recorded a disco album over the top of "The Allman Brothers Live at the Filmore" so we could reuse a 27 cent cassette tape. SIGH!

OUTTHERE-------I wasn't sure if your request for $$$ info was directed toward me. I hit the highlights on post #10. The only actual $$$ amount that comes to mind is $6/wk. for MANNA. It seems pretty silly now but I think I only made about $2/hr. at my "9-5". I do recall once calculating the rent on 8 townhouses against the general fund paid by 50 people and being astonished by the overpayment.There was rarely much left for anything other than the laundromat and lunches which we had to buy ourselves, as well as gas for the car. (35--45 cents a gallon?) ---A bit of humour in the mix: MANNA coordinators always seemed to be female so we called them ( informally, of course) MANNA MOMMA'S--Ain't nothin' in the world tastier than homemade familia made in 100 lb. batches. YUM YUM!!

HEY SMOKEY!-----from the posts I've seen here today, it sounds like you've got a real keeper stateside. ( ok it's a derail, so bring me up on charges.) I think it's great she's reading PFAL. May be now she will stop saying "it's all Greek to me " when you make references to TWI and PFAL.

Hi Medic's Wife.-----Welcome aboard !----- I think it is a good thing you are studying the PFAL materials. In doing so you will gain tremendous insite into the hearts of posters and more importantly , the heart of Medic. IT is true there are many dark clouds hovering over TWI and much controversy over the PFAL class. GOD is much bigger than TWI, the PFAL class, or any other religious organization or class. Though I am not defending TWI or PFAL, there are some wonderful things you can take away from the class if the desire is in your heart. GOD can enlighten the eyes of your understanding but don't forget that old addage," Can't see the forest for the trees". Coolchef--------You really nailed it for me when you pointed to 1.)love and 2.) good people . I am not the only one in my family to have been involved with TWI, simply the first. When I first saw things i thought were not right I was concerned and reluctant to discuss them with my family. Here is where the fear comes in. They thought of me as sort of a trailblazer and I wasn't really sure my suspicions were any more than just that. I feared they might feel the trail I had "pioneered" for them was not as it seemed. I think the fear of disappointing them definately affected decisions I made. To go home and admit you may have been wrong would have been tough because it somehow says they were wrong to listen to you in the first place.Today, when I apologize to them for getting them involved, They almost invariably tell me they are thankful their involvement introduced them to so many wonderful, loving people. Many of them became lifelong friends.--------The Best of Times?"--------I don't think you will find it on a calender or a clock because they seem to freeze time in one place. FREE AT LAST---------- "how long was the FL program?"---- It was a two year commitment. One of the unique features was that first year and second year were not segregated. The first house I was in was 4 first year men with a second year married couple. Some limb staff aso lived in FL housing. Mainly it was 6 men to a townhouse or 6 women . The only coed aspect was when marrieds lived with singles or other married couples . My second year, families with children were added to the mix though children were not required to participate at the same level of intensity as adults. RE: phones --- they were permitted but they were very expensive and virtually every call would be long distance. With 6 people in a home, you can imagine how that could get out of hand. Add to that the possability you could be moved to another home on a moments notice and the phone point became moot. The only payphone available,albeit still "long distance" was at the nearby truckstop, called (you guessed it) WAYSIDE TRUCK STOP.-----GROUCHO------I agree with you that the lack of any real academics was a vast disappointment.-------But on the bright side: I got an ambiguously sounding handle from it. No wait! Did I say that was the "bright" side?

I was never WC so maybe I don't belong on this thread. I was ,however, FL so I thought I would offer some info. in that regard. ----We all were required to work a "9 to 5". ----Income from this was dispersed as follows; 1.) ABS ( actually in the written agreement so if you found yourself out of work it was a serious problem.) People would take any kind of job they could fit into the schedule regardless of their qualifications or the nature of the job. You had two weeks to get a job when you first arrived or you were shown the door. 2.) General fund -----This paid the rent on the 8 or so townhouses in our enclave. ( I'm not sure on this but I think gas, electric and water were part of this fund.) None of the 8 townhouses had phones but if you wanted to get one it would be your own expense. It was 1975 so there were no cell phones or internet. A couple homes had T.V. but there was rarely any time to watch. 3.) House fund-----This paid for things such as dish soap, garbage bags, bootie wipe etc. All personal items such as shampoo, shaving cream, etc. were each FL's own responsability. 4.) MANNA-----This fund was for the food co-op. If you didn't pay MANNA you had to sit at meals with everyone but weren't allowed to eat. ( Thanks John G. for bailing me out more times than I like to remember.---5.) Corps sponsporship------Not an absolute requirement but not participating was heavily frowned on. There wasn't much left for a social life but then who had one anyhow? Dollar amts.? I don't recall. It would probably seem like a pittance unless adjusted for 30+ years of inflation anyway.

Re: Whether to wait and go through lots of red tape.--------8 years seems like more than long enough,(just my opinion)------There is an old song by Buzzy Lindhart(sp?) that goes like this: " The time to live is now. You could be riding on a big brown cow. The time to live is now." ---Did you get the bike tie in?---Cow(Kaw.)?

If people actually believe he "took the bullet" for the ministry that would put him in the catagory of " martyr". Scares me and I'm fearless.

I may have missed it but I haven't seen WAY HOME yet. This was communal living of five or six same gender believers in a similar fashion as WOW but in your own hometown.--------Also: MINUTEMAN------A wow type proram for high school students in their home state.-------Yet another: FELLOWLABORERS-------A limb level 2 year training program that was a small enclave of believers living a communal lifestyle whose only connection to the outside world was at required secular jobs. Somewhat on the lines of a WC without outside sponsorship. Oops,almost forgot this one: EMPTIES FLOATIN' BY.------- People who seemed to express no desire to be "filled" with holy spirit.

JL--------is it possible yours was because you fit that criteria? Food for thought.

In the early seventies( sorry my recollections always seem to be from ancient history books) it was taught very clearly ,though I don't recall the chapters and verses used, that ordination was contingent upon 1.) revelation, 2.) having a gift ministry. In fact, when we would hear of an ordination, we would always want to know what gift ministry the person had. There was another poster who I think may have been from the same area as me who echoed a recollection of this practise as well.

When I was involved with TWI, I was taught that I was inside GOD's hedge of protection. If I ever left,I was told, I would be leaving myself wide open for any attack the devil might want to throw at me. LCM, of course, used this same logic in his grease spot by midnight analogy. This hedge not only applied to me but to my family, my spouse, and my children. Walking away and taking a chance on one's own safety was one thing but did we really want to gamble with our loved ones lives? Many people who walked away did have tragic events befall them. Why? Because life is not fair and tragic events are part of it. I have to wonder how many people secretly wonder if their exit brought a personal "911" to their spouse, their parent, or perhaps the hardest , a child. To them I say ,you walked away from a cult not the household of GOD and your exit in no way makes you guilty in GOD's eyes of the tragedies you may have endured. At least that's my opinion.

Most people think that the E light means empty, but after owning 4 or 5 Fords in a row I have finally realized it means "EASE over chump, it's over."

Bluzeman & Chatty Kathy--------- From your posts it sounds like you may be within driving distance of the Granville Hotlicks Blues Fest. It will be from noon til 10pm on Sept. 16 in downtown granville, just west of "Nirk". There are 5 or 6 acts lined up but off the top of my head the only ones I can remember are Magic Slim and the Teardrops, Bigtime Sarah, and Blues At Last. It's kid friendly and proceeds from concessions help local charity. Lots of fun, tons of good blues and best of all it's----------FREE!! ---(as usual, it's a good idea to bring your own chair.)

I got here a little late so i've got some catching up to do. I saw Daniel "Slick" Ballinger recently and it was as a show to remember. It was what Taj Mahall calls "Black church on a Sunday mornin'". North Mississippi hill country sound. One of the Kimbro sons was in the band. The whole show focused around his excitement to have "found" THE LORD. His enthusiasm was more than infectious, and there was plenty of hand waving and dancing in the aisles, not to mention what apowerful slide player and vocalist he is. Try to imagine a 15 minute rendition of THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE that had on their feet , shouting and dancing. Some performers work hard to fill the stage. Not Sick; the stage could hardly contain him. Not too shabby for kid that's only 22 or 23 years old.

Post#16 details some of the intense planning that went into the big "BIKE TRIP". Reading this ,for me at least, gave added significance to WW's post #9 on the SHATTERED PIECES thread.

OK -----Let's see is accurate; Planning,planning, and planning to plan yet more plans for an event involving VIP who supposedly were tighter than tight with GOD Almighty. ----------For Joe B. Liever on the field: Just believe GOD( and don't forget to ABS , it takes cash to make such a big event as a bike trip a blessing for all.)

You might have to gimme more than one clue. It's a multistep process.
