  1. Roy----------I'm not quite sure what you mean by a "Wierwille-light". DO you mean Wierwilleite( as in one who is a disciple of Wierwille?) or do you mean one who does not measure up to a standard? Or perhaps one who lit the path so others could also follow his teachings? I guess I'll have to pass on that part for now. As for the rest of it, I believed most of what was taught was correct and thought that TWI had cornered the market on truth. I ,of course, have since learned otherwise. Sure I feel like part of my life was wasted but I was doing a pretty good job in that department long before I knew of TWI. Plus, I met some pretty wonderful people I may never have otherwise met. I don't hate VPW. Perhaps if I had known him personally that answer might be different. I do not hate TWI but have a great disdain for deeds that were committed on their behalf. I never got too wrapped up in that father in the word stuff or put VPW on some special pedastal. GOD is now who he has always been, I just see him in a slightly different light. Thought provoking questions! Holy hugs to ya Bro
  2. Abe-----------Welcome to our little corner of the world. I'm a fairly recent arrival myself. I encourage you to try some of the fun stuff like "name that movie" and "TV pictionary" and so on . Of course, the weightier matters can also be tossed back and forth in "Doctrinal". The program you were in seems to have gleaned elements of a program that I and others here were in back in the 1970's called Fellowlaborers, especially the part about working at HQ( in our case it was the state HQ) and the sparcity of personal time. You seem to have weathered the experience quite well. During your time there, was there still an obsession with stringing chairs in perfectly straight lines? Also, what sort of duties were you expected to perform during the course of an average day?(if there was such a thing)
  3. Annette Funny Cello was my first "crush"!
  4. Completely off topic but notice, if you will, that Kathy did not get "top"post". (No malice intended!)
  5. Nolonger---------------You have a valid point to make. It would be hard for me to imagine what it must be like for those close to people accused of or convicted of heinous crimes to have to see details of the crime reported in a public forum. Perhaps a good guideline to follow before publicly expounding would be to ask oneself:1.) Is the information accurate? 2.) Can it be substantiated? 3.) Is there any malice involved in making the revelation? With that said, I think if there is information that should be made public for the benefit of those receiving it then so be it. ----------Just my opinion!
  6. CA-------I'll have to fool around with those lyrics for awhile.
  7. Well, whadda ya' know. I thought it was because neither one could count to ten. It seems that in KY., counting is done on the teeth instead of the fingers and toes. ( I hope no one from KY. figures out I'm from the "worthless nut" state.)
  8. Well, at first glance I thought of Blondie's "Heart of Glass" and then thought of The Stone's "Heart of Stone" but alas I don't think I remember this one. BTW---------- I heard today that Etta Baker, one of the greatest practitioners of fingerpicking the guitar passed on this weekend at age 93. She was an instrumentalist so she doesn't really fit this thread but There was certainly a profoundly lyric quality to her playing.
  9. Joseph-----------Can you think of any scriptures that may parallel or resemble the contents of your most recent postings?
  10. Now, kids! Fight NICE!! ( We usually followed at least half of that advise.)
  11. Jonny----------My wife and I knew someone years ago who had two children who were born with this condtion.I am no expert on the subject but here is the little bit I know. This condition can be internal, external, or both. Internally the person has both sets of gonads(testes and ovaries). Externally the differences are more noticable. Surgical correction is possible. In the past, the most common way to adjust the problem was to surgically render the person female since this is the least involved of the two surgeries. Recently, though, studies have shown that these people may be hormonally gender biased. In other words, it may be best to pursue a course of treatment that will render the person a male. In the instance I mentioned both children are girls. The have to take hormone supplements and can never have children. Curiousity is not at all abad thing but sometimes it likes to sneak into rooms where people prefer to keep the doors closed.
  12. Greg -----------In post # 35 you said "Tell the Devil Hi for me" Are you implying there is some piece of knowledge that has come to you by discerning of spirits? This is a mighty big charge to lay at someone's feet with or without spiritual guidance. You also speak of letting the spirit enlighten you on a scriptures meaning. I, for one, believe GOD can work in the heart to enlighten us. This enlightenment, however, should not contradict what has already been made known by the scriptures. Understanding what has been written is the essence of what is being discussed here not conjecture of what GOD may or may not have shown you for your own personal understanding. Please don't see this as some kind of insult. I am merely saying that if GOD shows you something that helps your own personal understanding it does not necessarily mean He expects you to share this with others or that it will fit with the way those others think. Many years ago VPW said something to the effect of "I have no scritural proof, you will just have to trust me on this." when teaching the "Original" sin. His teaching on this subject did not then or ever have any scriptural basis that can be clearly documented. Therefore, if GOD does indeed tell you to make a declaration on His behalf you can be certain it will not contradict what the scrptures have already shown.

I struggled with whether to put this on the "MOM" thread or here. My Mom is one of the most loving, giving people I have ever know. Of course, my opinion is a bit biased, but I think everyone who has ever known her would nod in agreement. Greg suggested that without manifestations, that something must be flawed in this love. It just so happens that my Mom does operate manifestations and has for many years. Now here's the problem; she evidenced this same level of love and caring long before she ever spoke in tongues. How do I fit this coincidence into Greg's definition?
  14. Chatster-----------Will you please see he gets his Tuxedo? Otherwise he might be back for more.

Greg123---------------"We should reflect the love we have with one another." Is this an opinion or is there specific scripture that will substantiate that as it is worded? Mind you, I'm not suggesting it is necessarily bad advise, but there are some elements of the way in which it is stated that might not hold up under strict scrutiny, such as reflecting with one another. Even the old childrens fellowship song suggested we should let it SHINE not reflect and suggested in doing so that ALL might see that "Little Light". Should we now dissect the heart out of a simple childrens song too? Or should we just accept the fact that GOD's love is beyond our definitions?(yours, mine and vpw's)
  16. Appleseed--------------Does your handle have any special significance?
  17. You are correct, G ST G.-----It is indeed "Red Rubber Ball" by Cyrkle --------And I think it's gonna be alright. ------Yeah, the worst is over now------------
  18. Did you know that actual apple seeds contain poison? There is a very small quantity of cyanide in apple seeds. Consumed in normally small quantities, the toxin is of no consequence. Extremely large quantities, however, should be avoided. The very task of consuming enough to cause harm would probably be aversive to most and proclude over consumption.
  19. I should have known You'd bid me farewell there's a message to be learned from this and I've learned my lesson well. Now I know you're not the only starfish in the sea If I never hear your name again It's all the same to me.

Greg--------"The unbelievers will choose between being saved and going to hell." 1.) Are there only two choices? 2.) Does the Bible talk about people going to hell? This discussion might fare well in the doctrinal thread where people are quite interested in the "big picture".I invite you to visit but only if it's of your free will. Please feel free to bring your own questions and concerns.

CK----------About 2 years ago, a movie was released titled "Lightning In A Bottle".It is a live concert at Radio City Music Hall. One of the performances is Angelique Kidjo blasting her way through Voodoo Child with the help of Buddy Guy. The entire dvd is excellent but I thought this might interest you since you mentioned Voodoo Child and I know you will dig Buddy Guy. I don't know too much about getting this stuff on -line but it is available at the video rental places.
  23. SHOOT-----------I was going to name this one but with all this thunder ,I'm thinking I better run and take cover.
