Uh, Belle, maybe me an David are as good as it gets. And obviously neither one of us feels like "going there" with doctrine. Honestly, if there are CES supporters in these parts, I don't know who they are. Not that it matters...........It's not like anybody is obligated to post or anything?

These stories make me nostalgic for the days when we had little ones stomping through the house. Precious times, indeed! I do remember an incident though, when my kids were getting a tad bit older...... Grandma and Grandpa came over for dinner, and the kids were excited to see them and be eating spaghetti as well. (their favorite meal) We were all sitting around the dinner table, and my 2 girls were jabbering away about life at school, and who gave whom a wedgie when the teacher wasn't looking, etc. Son, who was like 8, was trying to get a word in edgewise, but girls (who are a couple of years older) kept talking non-stop, ignoring little brother. Bless his little heart, he keeps trying to be a part of the, um, I guess you could call it a conversation? Meanwhile, everybody is downing mouthfuls of spaghetti. Son still can't manage to get anyone's attention, as everyone is focused on the chatty girls. Finally, son, pushes his chair away from the table, and starts twitching his eye like he has a really bad tick. Says he: "I'm going to need therapy after this!" My mom, always a quick comeback says, "yeah, and you'll probably never eat spaghetti again without a twitch." :D

Nobody has ever answered my questions about being a business owner and debt. I don't see how it's possible to run a successful business without owing something to somebody. Shoot, even your payroll is a debt, technically. So did like nobody own a business that was with TWI? when the debt commandment came out? I still don't get how that whole thing came down. Sure, everyone knows consumer debt is a killer, and not good, duh? But running a business, homes, morgages, college loans, valid stuff...........????

Aw sheesh. My life is just one "personal experience" after another. Really, how can we escape ourselves? And what we go through day by day. The idea that "personal experiences are not valid" is ludicrous. So who else's experiences am I having? if they aren't "personal?" Sheesh.....

Aw, thanks, suda, I thought of my dad too. When my beloved husband heard the story, his comment was: "Well she is certainly a M*******." According to him, no other family on earth stumbles across good stories the way we do. Ha! What I really appreciate, is how gracious George Sr. was. I mean, I'm sure he is used to freaking out students on campus, since he hangs out there so much. He took the time to acknowledge daughter, and put her at ease. Gotta love him for that. He could have blown her off, and acted like she was in the way. But he didn't. I'm quite sure she probably looked like a deer caught in the headlights.....

Actually, George Sr.'s Library is at A&M. He keeps an office there, and has a place on campus he stays. He also is a poly sci advisor. He was my sis-in-laws advisor when she attended in the 90's. I heard he likes to hang around in the student center and fraternize with the students. I told daughter that if she gets the tour guide job for incoming Freshmen, she needs to make sure they know what George Sr. looks like. ;) And she can also warn them about men in dark suits with curly phone cords coming out their ears. Glad ya'll enjoyed the story. I love writing/telling true stuff that happens in my little part of the world.

My daughter had a pretty funny thing happen to her on Monday. She attends Texas A&M university, and lives in one of the old corps dorms on campus. Monday afternoon, she spent a couple of hours filling out a job application as a tour guide on campus for the summer. The application was due to be turned in by 5:00 pm in a building across campus. So, at 4:45 pm, she dashes out her dorm room, down 4 flights of stairs, and starts running across the quad, papers in hand. (A difficult feat in flipflops, says she.) The rest of her outfit included a pair of shorts with "Aggies" across the rear-end, and a "gig em" t-shirt. Once she gets across the grassy quad onto the sidewalk, she sees a guy up ahead in a dark suit directing traffice. "That's odd, she thinks to herself. "Nobody ever directs traffic around here, much less in a suit, when it 90 degress." Said traffic director puts his hand up as she approaches him, as if to say "Stop!" Daughter thinks he means the cars on the road, certainly not her! After all, she has to get this paper turned in. So daughter keeps running towards her final destination, the office building up ahead. As she passes the suited guy, he yells at her "Freeze!!!!" So she stops on the curb, turns around, and he yells, "Don't make a move!" She's wondering, "What the heck?" As she is standing there on the curb, wondering what is going on, 3 big black suburbans pull up, RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER. As the doors fly open to all 3 vehicles, she steps back to make room for all the suited men with curly phone cords coming out of their ears, jumping out of the vehicles. Somebody else yells at her, "Freeze! lady." So there she is, standing there sweating profusely, out of breath, wonder what she did wrong? and who the heck is in these big trucks? Just then, an older man, who looks vaguely familiar, steps out of the first suburban, right in front of her. She was frozen, as commanded. He says to her, "Well, hello there, young lady." She, not knowing what else to do, stretches out her hand, and says, "Hello, my name is J*****. It's a pleasure to meet you, Sir." She still is trying to figure out who this elderly man is. Then the man most graciously takes her hand, and says, "You should meet Senator McCain, here, he is a fine man." As he is saying this, the Senator steps out of the 2nd truck. (OK, this guy she recognized.) So daughter shakes his hand, and then, as Mrs. Bush Sr. is being helped out of the 3rd, suburban, Mr. Bush Sr. introduces daughter to the Mrs. Daughter obligingly nods at the Mrs. and says what a pleasure it is to meet her, as it dawns on her that this is the elder President Bush. As the whole herd of seriously important somebodies strides off towards the building that she was running for, she stays respectfully behind, and follows at a distance. She makes into the office to turn in her job application a few minutes late, but midst the hubbub of the dignataries who entered in front of her, nobody notices she is late with her paperwork. Shew!! Mom, she tells me later, "That was so ackward and embarrassing!!!! I didn't know what to do!" I assured her she did the right thing, and that she should be very proud of herself for being gracious and respectful in such an awkward, unexpected situation. When she first told me the story, I thought she had met the current President Bush. Turns out, it was the former President and Mrs. Ah, the adventures of youth......

Maybe I just have a "way hangover," but even though my family donates to CES, I don't consider myself a "member" of the organization. We also give to our local church, the homeless shelter, the battered women's shelter, and a few other local charities. Truth be told, we have given way more to the homeless shelter here, than all the other groups we support put together. I freely admit that I have a big "problem" with pledging my allegiance soley to one group within the body of Christ. That's why I haven't officially joined the church we have been involved with for the last 6 years. FWIW

All the more reason for a trip south, mo. :D
-
Hey, I'd much rather hang out with greasespots, anyway.
-
The Geerites I know won't speak to me, because I don't believe VP was the MOG, or PFAL is error free. Sigh.......

Hi Mo It's gorgeous here down south. And has been for awhile. Maybe it's time for a vacation? You're always welcome here. But seriously, I understand having lived in Michigan for 13 years. Spring was always cold and disappointing and a long time coming. I always tried to plan a vacation over Spring Break to sunnier places on the globe. Hang in there, friend.

Yes, George, I did think about that. I have actually run into exways that I didn't know while in, in the 6 or so years I've lived here. That was always a surprise too. I just thought it was interesting that my old acquaintance is still involved. He said that there are now 6 "household fellowships" in Houston. I know there used to be alot more than that. The other thing that I didn't mention before, is that my new boss is also exway. But we have known each other a long time, and he called me when he heard I was looking for a new position, and offered me the job.

This was fun. The choice was easy for me. I can resist anything but a brownie.....

Thanks so much for the good wishes. I just want to do a good job for my employer. And my still way friend, I hope will be better off for knowing me, and working with me. Honestly, that's how I feel. I hope I can "bless" his life. Whatever that may look like, I'm cool with it. If it means keeping my big mouth shut, I can do that too.

True confession.......I was involved with CES in its infant stages, mainly because I knew the players since I was a teenager who went to summer school and worked on staff. When hubby and I were callously thrown out of the way, they called and cared. And we happen to live close to some of them, helped them contact people, etc. Our involvement mainly is about being friends from a distance. We are partners and get the tapes, etc, but truth be told, I am not a "listening to a tape/cd" person. So I haven't in many years. I would much rather read the bible on my own, and attend my church, or my women's bible study. But I think the major contribution CES has made to the exway community has been to face doctrinal error and confront it. They haven't been afraid to reexamine alot of bs stuff and fix it. (MY words, sorry.) Not that I agree with everything they write/say, but they haven't been afraid of changing doctrine because of VPW adulation. (Thank, goodness.) Everything is worth scrutiny. That's what I love and appreciate about them. And besides, nobody ever, anywhere, gets the OT like John Schoenheit. He can resolve the best (and worst) of contradictions, and make stuff FIT. Gotta love the guy for that. And he is the best person ever to go to Israel with, cause he loves the country, and knows so much, having spent so much time there. PS I am going to the CES conference in Munich. Just because I was talking to Mark about something unrelated, and he invited me, and it works out that I can see friends while there. Daughter and I were going to be in Europe anyway. I am a total social creature, and can't turn down a trip!

Heh, Heh, Davey. I don't think I'm the one who needs the prayer......

Yesterday I started a new job. My new boss introduced me to my co workers. (All 4 of them.) One of them, is someone I knew fairly well in-rez. He is a corps grad who is still with the way. He is a "household fellowship coordinator." What are the odds? I live in a city of 4 million people. I remember him as being a really nice guy. He still is. We chatted and he was helpful and polite. I wonder if he was as surprised as I was.

This thread makes me feel really sad, and I have total lump in my throat. My hubby turned down getting ordained by the way, and later tuned down getting ordained by the Lutherans. It's not what we want for us and our family. Seems its a lesser calling to be a "lay person." Too bad, really....

still haven't voted..... Ha

Well, I haven't voted yet. Bribes will work!!!

Nika It was only about a year and a half or so ago, I cleaned out an old file cabinet in the garage and threw away about 8 years worth. Oooops.

Jesus Christ is the MOG. The one and only.

Well I guess we could all jump on him and tickle him til he tells.

The King Ranch Chicken was a hit with husband and kids. But we all agreed, it needs an extra can of Rotel to make it perfect! :B) We like spicy........
