  1. Micah Owings, one of the "players to be named later" in the Adam Dunn trade, hit a pinch hit double for the game winning rbi against the Dbacks in Phoenix (in extra innings) tonight. It serves the Dbacks right for giving up on Owings.
  2. Wow... Kimberly. Please share with us some of what your sons report to you after the game! :)
  3. Okay... the journal uses the expression "base ball." But do they know whether the game he named has any resemblance to what started in the US in the 1800s?
  4. Is he REALLY 22-2? btw, Webb FINALLY got his 20th win of the season... but the Dbacks (but NOT Webb) ALMOST blew it again. Webb pitched 8 shutout innings.
  5. Default looks more like Denim to me... I have only two choices and neither looks like it used to for me. I used to see various shades of brown.
  6. Well, fret not. My pessimism about the remainder of the Dbacks' season will not be the determining factor. If they get it together, I'll rejoice with and for them... I'm not going to hold my breath, however.
  7. Now 3 games behind the Dodgers, after now losing 6 in a row, two of which they had engineered 9th inning come from behind rallies... one to tie, the last one to go ahead. They couldn't finish off the GIANTS. 0-6 road trip. I'd be VERY surprised if the Dodgers fell apart and the Dbacks came back to life to make the playoffs. That's how over over is. (yes, it's sad, but no, I'm not overly depressed about it).
  8. Yeah, Francona's line in there's pretty good. btw, the Dbacks season ended today. They lost their 6th in a row and second in a row in which they had come from behind. Last night, they got a two run HR to tie in the top of the 9th, only to lose to a walk off hit in the bottom half. Today, they came from behind 2-1 with a two run triple in the top of the ninth only to lose to a walk off two rbi hit. RIP 2008 Dbacks... :(
  9. Not necessarily. If the journalism is limited to "book review" they could easily handle it by just including a disclaimer such as "this is a controversial issue, opposing views may exist."
  10. Yeah, you got a good game to be at... maddening/saddening for me however. Do you get the feeling that Vin perhaps wouldn't know what to do with himself if he didn't have ball games to call? I only mean that figuratively, as I'm sure he could find all sorts of things to do... but if baseball season was on and he wasn't there, perhaps he'd feel as lost as other Los Angelenos' baseball fans.
  11. If Fox was presenting a NEWS item about TWI, they probably would (I don't know enough about them to know with any degree of certainty). But since it's a BOOK promo, no such need for alternative view is necessary. Anyone with a DVR can set it up to record it... which, since it will be on at 5:40 am, MST, I must do in order to catch it.
  12. Perhaps better news for the Dodgers than simply taking over first place in the NLWest, news reports now say that Vin Scully will return for his 60th season (2009) broadcasting games for the LA team.
  13. This is true, not necessarily in a literal sense, because they've had some pretty lousy times... but for this year, they looked REALLY bad.
  14. long ago... the game was insufferable.
  15. Pardon me while I grumble (and complain)... Dbacks at the Dodgers tonight, on ESPN in HD. However, that game is NOT available on ESPN in MY area. Hence, I'm left to endure it on Fox Sports Net, LOW definition. And FSNs LOW definition SUCKS.
  16. That's possibly because official scorers generally give the pitcher -- from a fielding perspective -- the benefit of the doubt that it would be very difficult to make plays like that because of how they come off the mound on follow through after releasing the ball. If Greg Maddux was the standard, they'd have given CC the error, BUT... just like you can't assume a double play (and therefore errors are not generally given when the pivot man, be it the SS or 2nd baseman, bobbles instead of making a clean relay throw), you can't assume all pitchers field as well as Maddux. Btw, Dbacks had another bottom of the 9th comeback win against the Cardinals today. It was VERY exciting. I'm glad I recorded the game... :) Stephen (I hit for the cycle on Monday) Drew led off the bottom of the inning with a triple (on a magnificient at bat, going from 0-2 to 3-2 and fouling off several more pitches). Eckstein made an out, Conor Jackson singled scoring Drew with the tying run. Next batter -- Big Adam Dunn doubled scoring Jackson from first with only one out. Big series this weekend with Hiway's Trolley Dodgers... starting Friday.
  17. Nice idea for your personal mental health... but very much a BAD idea for you to put it on his voice mail at ANY time. VERY BAD idea... WILL cause far more headaches for you and your boss... and could (almost certainly, eventually, if not sooner WOULD) get YOU fired even though your boss is probably going to win... I STRONGLY advise you to NOT publish or record YOUR voice ANYWHERE at any time with ANY kind of follow up to this. You WILL regret doing so, if you follow through on your idea.
  18. If he regroups and regains his composure to win another couple, it will be a lock.
  19. I dunno... he's probably too expensive for them Dodgers... hehehe... (I hope)... btw, first pitch in two minutes (Dbacks/Cards).
  20. Supercharge your metabolism Some of this (much) has been discussed on this thread already... it's simply put, slightly differently in this article.
  21. Technically, Beltre's was the second of the day... therefore, semantically, your sentence might more correctly read "Then THIS makes two cycles today... Beltre (so far) has gone 5 for 5 and hit for the cycle here as well..." Okay, you can slap me now.
  22. Dbacks finish the game with the win.
