    July 20, 1969

Had been spending the summer with my dad in Rochester NY... watched it in the living room on the (only) tv (in the house). I was 14... that was 39 years ago...
  2. Never been to Baltimore... was a kid (played my sandlot BB) in Rochester NY... then home to the Orioles AAA farm team... would love to be able to take you up on that... I'm sure I'd love the crabcakes... but, alas, I won't be going. What about selling on StubHub?
  3. That does seem awfully perverse.
  4. I've done similarly to Ron... have lost 90 lbs. Key in use of whole grains (instead of sugar/white flour/white rice) is that there is fiber (which, besides aiding in food bulk getting through the entire digestive system help tremendously in feeling satisfied that you've eaten what you need to eat) in addition to the increased nutrition/vitamins. Essentially, I focus on getting enough protein daily (which is critical in developing and maintaining muscle mass, said mass being critical to enhanced metabolism). I basically gave up junk food which is generally far too high in both carbs and fats. For breakfast, I use skim milk with whey protein for my shake. Regardless, the 5-6 meals spread out through the day and making sure to get the breakfast in to start out the day are the most important aspects of the plan. I DO eat fresh fruit everyday, much of which is high in carbs but also high in fiber and vitamins/minerals.
  5. Electric bike!!!! Tell us more, please.
  6. I can't and don't speak for pawtucket, but I do observe. I observe that there's been PLENTY of indignation expressed by plenty of people here about the conduct of a few. Nobody, to my knowledge, has been booted from here. Everybody that has participated in the practice upon which scorn has been heaped here has effectively been put on notice -- not necessarily by pawtucket -- but by the community here, that challenging those who post about their personal stories of abuse at the hands of leaders in twi, that said practice of challenging will not be tolerated by the community. A "norm" or "more" (pronounced more - A) has indeed been established. How it will be dealt with will only be determined if the offending conduct is resumed. And given that WD has let us know that he's effectively on "hiatus" due to some gig with Bob Dylan in California, perhaps his time away will serve him well in decisions he may make on how he chooses to conduct himself here from henceforth.
  7. Of course it's a shame. And it certainly is regrettable. I played sandlot ball. I loved it. But the world is a different place these days. First, here in Phoenix, any organized little league play is done either in spring, fall or if in the summer, as late in the afternoon as possible, to keep the kids from too much heat and direct sun exposure. The ONLY outdoor play on summer days here, except for idle hands (and gangs finding trouble) is at swimming pools or parks with some sort of water play. Other than that, the dramatic increase in the US population, seemingly ubiquitous presence of convicted sex offenders in so many places, can you blame parents for not wanting their kids to go unsupervised or without structured activities? When I was raising kids, it was... well, for the boys not as much of a worry, but still, some worry. Anyway, I digress...
  8. That looks like a giant Ponderosa Pine tree that you're posed in front of... Is it really that kind of tree? Welcome... I don't know where any of those people are now, but I also was in the USAF when I first got involved in TWI... in Oct 1974, Lajes Field, Azores.
  9. I checked out Taubes's book at the library the other day.... I'm not sure I need to read all the studies, but do want to get to the summaries thereof. btw, one of the clinical nutritionists at the VA medical center here in Phoenix, when I asked her about Taubes's book (this week), said I was the third person who had done so very recently. She said she has the book and hasn't begun reading it. To me, that says she's open minded about it. When I get feedback from her, I'll let y'all know.
  10. I've known people like that... indeed, that's very well put.
  11. Yeah, a lot of stuff in life is annoying... I could probably list 50 things without stopping for lunch, and 51 of them might be true facts.
  12. I'm still not understanding what I did today to cause you to make that statement... ???
  13. Nope, nothing like that for the Dbacks.
  14. Perhaps, good doctor, to properly evaluate your claim, you could give us some numbers... like what is your before/after weight and body composition percentages?
  15. If I may be FRANK (but do NOT call me SHIRLEY), I wondered why nobody just told him not to let the door hit him on the bee-hind on his way out (to the desert)...
  16. 2nd oldest? I never knew you had more kids than just Andrew. I like the pic with the girl, but mostly because of the nicely composed shot of the scenery.
  17. Oh, and because it's hot here (REALLY hot), I turn my hot water heater heat off in the summer... still have water plenty warm for showers.
  18. thanks, I'll look that up... I do get HMO, but don't usually watch Costas. but I LOVE those Miller High Life spots... :)
  19. did the ceiling fan/thermostat adjustment for the a/c three years ago. Also, three years ago (when I moved to where I now live) I planted trees/bushes that are now providing dramatically increased shade. I use my gas grill as an oven (outdoors) instead of heating my house (to cook many things, including pizza... during the hot months anyway. dramatically reduced my driving so that I only buy one tank of gas/mo (still costs $50). Taking the bus and riding bicycle much more. Is it worth it? Hell yes. I couldn't meet my monthly expenses otherwise. I'm seriously considering purchase of a motorscooter. I'm considering both electric and gas powered options.
  20. ...the skyboxes, up in section La De Dah... ...common sense, this is YOUR wake up call, GIT yo but up! ...hi-life housekeeping... I think those commerncials are the coolest I've ever seen. They don't make me wanna buy Miller High Life, but they sure are entertaining. :)
