  1. There will be a new poll is anyone sets one up (are you volunteering?) And Belle... I posted a link to news story on the previous page....
  2. Judge Orders Paris Hilton back to jail... for all 45 days Indeed!
  3. THIS JUST IN: MSNBC now reports that TMZ.com reports that Paris Hilton has been ORDERED BACK TO JAIL and to serve the ENTIRE 45 day sentence.
  4. Ya know, there's a plausible link to the sheriff and the prosecutor working in concert to do this... The sheriff's office can be sued (at least they get sued often here in Maricopa County, AZ), but the prosecutor and the judge CANNOT (if my understanding is correct) be sued... so, this all might be a ruse to head off any potential Hilton threat to sue.
  5. UPDATE LA prosecutor wants Paris back in jail I'd call this an interesting development. IF there is a "liberal" influence involved (yes, lukewarmchef, I'm talking to you), it's in what the LA City Prosecutor's office is doing to right the pansy a$$ sheriff's goof up. And yes, Dave, I heard that (lame) explanation too. It's complete nonsense, IMO.
  6. For those paying closer attention, she served THREE days, but somehow (wussy jailers certainly are NOT from Joe Arpaio's team) got credit for five. Yes, she was probably having a mental(emotional) breakdown... but gimme a break. If she can't take that, she shouldn't be driving at all. My hunch is that the wussy jailers were a-feared a gittin sued for cruelty. They KNEW the Hilton's could and would afford the best attorneys and doctors to badger the system... What a freakin excuse for humanity (I mean the Hilton family). You are INSANE. How you can inject you're wingnut perspective into this is anybody's wild guess.

    Sleep Apnea

Interesting reflection on your experience with the sleep study people. Your skepticism perhaps was warranted, but in the federal government administered SINGLE PAYER system that provides my medical care, there is NO profit motive anywhere in the process. They have NO incentive to oversell. BUT... this system I belong to is highly focused on preventative care. They have a great deal of experience and data which links sleep apnea to several adverse conditions and/or risks for serious long-term cardiovascular illness. They also were able to show me the printouts generated by all those leads they connect to the head, torso, arms, legs, etc. They showed me at which CPAP settings my sleep was the best and why... However, if your sleep and any associated symptoms/conditions are/were very minor, perhaps you don't need it. BUT... if you see anything in your life/health changing for the worse, you might look into it more seriously.
  8. No...no disrespect intended. He's not unfriendly to the media so much here in AZ... I know when he first came here several years ago, he got kinda testy with one or two local tv sports guys and in NY he got into it with reporters setting the tone for his two years there... but nothing significant lately. I suppose I just was saving keystrokes (being lazy?)... or perhaps just figured everyone who follows baseball would know who I was referring to. BTW, it looks like we're NOT going to see a Johnson-Schilling throwdown. Schilling misses facing the Dbacks, and Johnson is scheduled to start against Dice-K on Sunday. Dbacks won again... a not so bad 1-0 game... Bonds only PH, and of course drew a walk... because they weren't going to give him anything to hit. Oh, and on further review, my post Jun 5 at 8:18pm (MST) cites the "Big Unit"... I considered the two posts essentially together, so by reference, the Unit was the "Big Unit."
  9. I guess we'll just have to wait until our friend 16Keys shows up and gives us the latest... Rhino, if you want some insight on late fatherhood, Dave Letterman, who turned 60 not quite 2 months ago, loves to talk about his son... his first born and only offspring, who is now 3 1/2. It can be good... if you have a good partner (spouse) and don't have to pull your hair out just to make (financial) ends meet. But those conditions are never automatic. I will tell you that nearly 18 years hence, the best, most dramatic day in my life thus far (still) was the day my daughter was born. And I loved being dad. That's why I volunteer with preschool kids at a local crisis shelter. They're so open, inquisitive, and most are happy even though they come from unfortunate family situations.
  10. Dbacks won the game, but no decision for The Unit... who remains at 284 career wins (I think). Apparently, the Rocket is scheduled to start for the Yankers on Saturday... and The Unit looks to start again on Sunday.... so, the number two spot on the strikeout list could go back and forth for a while this season.
  11. This evening at The BOB (aka Chase Field), the Big Unit passed the Rocket in career strikeouts. Johnson stands alone in second place, still more than 1000 Ks behind Nolan Ryan. Game still in progress, tied 2-2 now in the bottom of the 6th inning against the SF Giants who are playing without Bonds in the lineup thus far tonight.
  12. I hadn't heard about that yet... I also was a Yanks fan in the 1960s before the Orioles caught my interest. I remember (hopefully correctly) Kubek at SS, Richardson at 2nd base, and Pepitone at 1rst. But it's pretty tough to say ANY 3rd baseman, even into the 2007 season, was/is better than Brooks. RIP Clete Boyer.
  13. Well, "Sweet Lou" apparently gets a 4 game break for his antics.... and I heard that Zambrano has accepted responsibility for the dugout fight... -------- So, Mstar, will JD be well by the time your Sox come to the desert? Cause he ALWAYS does well against the Dbacks. Should be a good series regardless. I wonder if we'll see a Schilling-Johnson duel in the desert? Johnson's been pretty sharp for six innings in each of the last several starts.
  14. I hope you have a plan... things like that (growing up) don't happen automatically.... especially if you missed it in your 20s ;) and tnks for the good thoughts on my vision... the left eye should be just as routine as it went for the right... though I'm not confident it will make it any easier for me to see things YOUR way! ;) btw, one child's been plenty for me... it would take a whole lot of miracle something for me to want to have any more.

    I'm glad it worked! :)

I took no offense from your comment. I wouldn't think of wearing the mask during sex... unless we were pretending to be in outer space, I suppose, but that's kinda silly. ;)

    Sleep Apnea

Well, YOU don't have to go looking for a partner! Some of us ARE single at the moment.

I believe your understanding is quite correct. I have NO qualms about using the machine. I'd rather sleep than worry about looking goofy.

    Sleep Apnea

I had a septoplasty (septum undeviated) before they'd give me the machine. That surgery didn't do me any good. I've never heard of getting your tongue extended. Anyway, I'm more than 80 pounds lighter now than I was when I first started using the machine. And when I get another 50 or so pounds off, I probably won't need the machine anymore.... But my mother, who has some kind of sleep disorder(s) pretty much refuses to even consider using the machine also. She also tries to deny she's got problems with her sleep... can't make people accept solutions, I reckon.

    Sleep Apnea

Yeah... I've been using a CPAP machine for a little over three years now. I don't sleep without it. I'm glad I have it.
  21. Uh... niKa... it goes likewise for "advanced PATERNAL age"... though the physical challenges aren''t the same, older dads can't be sissies either. :) btw, 7 days ago, I had my first cataract surgery (right eye). I was amazed at how much brighter EVERYTHING was... and I didn't really have much trouble seeing during the day. But, with serious nighttime glare when driving, and family history (both of my parents had cataract surgery when they were in the early 50s), I was pretty certain I'd need it soon. I'm driving (not at the moment, btw) without glasses or contacts and with the implanted lens, I'm seeing 20/20 in the right eye. I'll just need reading glasses. So, this morning, I got scheduled for the left eye job on next Thursday, June 7. I'm thrilled with how it's turning out. Oh, yeah... and my best wishes for Lisa and her husband... babies are very cool.
  22. Sunday night? It was TUESDAY night. Reynolds got his bell rung by Brandon Medders when Medders made a dumb move to try to make a play on a bunt. Reynolds apparently is a pretty tough cookie. And he got two hits last night, the HR and a single. He's hitting around .425 in his 11 games. Though they say there have been other Dbacks who started their MLB careers pretty strong like that, Reynolds is reminding me of Pujols and how he was killing every team the Cards played during Pujols' rookie season. :)
  23. Make that SEVEN games in a row... Two series sweeps, at home against Houston, and in Philly. BTW, Simon, Mark Lewis is a sports talking head local broadcast media guy. You're thinking of Mark Reynolds. He had another good night at the plate tonight... I haven't looked at the box score yet, but do know he at least hit one HR tonight. Eric Byrnes hit 2 HRs. AND... it's looking like BoMel (Bob Melvin, Dbacks manager) was listening to my advice the day we went to the game and the Unit pitched 6 solid innings only to fall apart in the 7th. RJ only threw about 60 some pitches in six innings tonight for the win.... I liked how he got Valverde out of the game two nights ago right after CoJack made that error... Valverde being as emotionally charged as he is, it would have been difficult for him to stay even keeled that night. So, Lyon comes on to get the save... then tonight, when Lyon melted down in the 9th, Valverde put out the fire... slamming the door shut in no uncertain terms. --------- Yes, Mstar, just over a week now before the BoSox come to the desert. I hope the Dbacks retain some momentum after their series at Shea... if the Dbacks play as well then... it could be a match up of the two best teams in the majors at the time... I'm a little bit more optimistic the Dbacks can win at least one or two against your Sox now. ;) btw, TomStrange... Tejas can still get it done... didn't the Angels, in 2002 have a pretty rough start to the season before going on to win it all? I meant that the stRangers COULD still get it done.
  24. I used to wonder why people would get tattoos. For young people, the risk is very high that as they mature emotionally, their tastes and values will change. Some tattoos on either women or men are nice some are not. When I got mine, I was 49 and used a framed print that I had for more than 20 years for a design... so I was pretty confident I wouldn't have buyers' remorse regarding the particular image. BTW, the artist that put the tattoo on my leg said he refuses to put people's names on, with some exceptions... for example, putting your child's name, or a parent's name in a tattoo is fine... as those relationships endure. I LOVE your Iris, Chas... it's beautiful, it's delicate, it's elegant. If you put as much thought into one's you consider in the future, I'd figure those too will be very nice.
