  1. O.K. Rafael. I see your point now. Your point is that it is a waste of time for Pat to defend his rights to this domain name. I think whether or not this is a waste of time is up to Pat. I am not going to try to persuade him one way or the other on this. However, I will still support him if he decides to continue with this.
  2. Rafael and Long Gone, your best advise has been to not discuss the specifics of this suit on an open forum. However, there are specific laws involved with Trademarks if you really care to look into them. Actually reading them gives one a better perspective than relying on common horse sense.
  3. Do any of you people, other than Pat, know anything about Trademark Law? No, I don't mean where you make up stuff as you go, but where you actually crack open a law book and study. I am just wondering because there sure seems to be a lot of amateur lawyers on this thread. And no, I am not going to discuss the merits of this case on this public forum.
  4. And Jonny you forgot to mention that you have a good sense of humor. This can be easily seen on your Grease Spot Cafe biography. And how are your many wives doing today Jonny? And how is your 10 cow wife especially? Or was that 11 cows?
  5. Touche Eagle. Normally, when you have a trademark of such a generic and very undistinctive phrase as, "The Way". You have this trademarked with distinctive graphics and you can only use this phrase as a trademark with these distinctive graphics.
  6. Rafael that was a reasonable post dated April 06, 2004 20:15. This is something that Pat should consider.
  7. Long Gone: I really think you are very bright. I think you bring up some good points. However, Pat would have prevailed on "the Way of Christ". It was a matter of how much he was willing to spend. It was strictly dollars and cents. Here is one that The Way Ministry will not contest because they are obviously well financed: http://www.wayofthemaster.com/ I do agree with Rafael that it is probably not a good idea for Pat to be discussing this on an open forum if he intends to battle this out in court.
  8. Long Gone: I did a search on "The Way". I looked at a number of pages. I never found "The Way. I did find "The Way of Christ" which Pat should have been able to register as a trademark. Pat was not able to complete his trademark registration solely because TWI had enough money to keep opposing Pat's trademark. This was not based on right or wrong or a genuine conflict in the trade mark law. Had Pat had enough money for this he would have gotten his trademark.
  9. Hi Pirate: Is there a URL for that web site that you can post regarding doing trademark searches? I would like to examine TWI's claim. Relating to what Hope wrote. In going after every Christian organization or church that uses the name "The Way" as part of their name. TWI may be chasing after imaginary ghosts.
  10. This would explain why they registered "The Way Magazine", "The Way Corps", "The Way of Power and Abundance", etc. They are full aware that there use of "The Way" trademark of itself and without distinctive graphics is on very shaky grounds.
  11. In briefly reading over some of this. I question whether the corporation the Way International can get a copy right at all on the phrase "The Way" considering it is so generic and has such a wide range of usages. However, a trademark for the phrase "The Way" with some distinctive graphics or art work could be easily obtained with application. Just a little food for thought.
  12. Pat: Check your e-mails. I am sending you information on Trademark law of which I am somewhat familiar. You can do a lot of the preliminary work yourself. If you go to civil court however, you will need a lawyer.
  13. What about Tic? Did anyone know him? Was anyone blessed by him? Wierwille used to say regarding Tic, "Flea Fornication". By this I was not sure whether he was for it or against it? Perhaps we should take a poll.
  14. Hi Lolly Poppy: I was in TWI for 14 years. The one thing that bristles my fur the most about this corporation is their lack of respect for and in fact down right at times scorn for other Christians and Christian groups. If there is one thing that I would highly advise you to avoid in TWI thought is the TWI leadership's arrogant self righteous attitude that some how there group is the only true household of faith and better than all others. Besides the fact that this wreaks of the Catholic inquisition it leaves a very bad taste in ones mouth. Now I am not judging you here on whether you have this attitude or don't have this attitude. However, as someone with 14 years experience in dealing with this group (TWI), if you ever even get a small taste of this brand of self centered religious pharisaical grandeur spit it out immediately. Again Lolly I am not judging you in telling you this. However, I am judging TWI leadership as they have been very guilty of this. I am telling you now as a brother. Do not allow this brand of deceit into your thinking. I can overlook a lot of stuff, but if any leader from TWI or from any other Christian denomination for that matter ever brings this directly in my path they would know the error of their ways in a hurry. Why am I telling you this you may be thinking? Because I like you and I don't want you to fall into this same brand of deceit that I know TWI leaders promulgate.
  15. Lowly Lolly Poppy said, O.K. I read your above post again. Before this I checked to see if there was any dirt in my ear. I could not find any. However, I could have had a bad hair day when I previously posted a commentary about your above brief post. That is always possible I suppose. However, reading Grease Spot threads rarely agitates me. Even the crazy political section here. You should read some of that stuff if you want to read some real legitimate bias. Some of this is "through the roof Alice". I forget what I said to you now. Maybe I should look it up, huh? Sorry if I was hard on you. However, my buddy Wordwolf and a few others I suppose, explained very well the personal financial risk that Mel Gibson took in making this movie. The money out of his own pocket was enormous even for a rich dude like Mel. There was no guarantee that he was going to even break even on this and earn his money back. In fact, he could have lost his shirt on this endeavor. I know that Mel never took PFAL or the WAP class or whatever "flavor of the month" class they have now at TWI. In spite of this obvious mark on Mel's character. Lowly Lolly Poppy, do you think it is possible that Mel may actually have a heart felt passion for Jesus Christ?
  16. Groucho: Did I miss your birthday party? Darn, I bet it was a good one. Party on dude.
  17. Here MCarrol. Try reading this instead of thinking about what you learned in TWI. Prov 27:15-16; Prov 27:17 Miscellaneous maxims Here, as before, Solomon laments the case of him that has a peevish passionate wife, that is continually chiding, and making herself and all about her uneasy. 1. It is a grievance that there is no avoiding, for it is like a continual dropping in a very rainy day. The contentions of a neighbour may be like a sharp shower, troublesome for the time, yet, while it lasts, one may take shelter; but the contentions of a wife are like a constant soaking rain, for which there is no remedy but patience See Prov 19:13. 2. It is a grievance that there is no concealing. A wise man would hide it if he could, for the sake both of his own and his wife's reputation, but he cannot, any more than he can conceal the noise of the wind when it blows or the smell of a strong perfume. Those that are froward and brawling will proclaim their own shame, even when their friends, in kindness to them, would cover it. Proverbs 27:17 Miscellaneous maxims This intimates both the pleasure and the advantage of conversation. One man is nobody; nor will poring upon a book in a corner accomplish a man as the reading and studying of men will. Wise and profitable discourse sharpens men's wits; and those that have ever so much knowledge may by conference have something added to them. It sharpens men's looks, and, by cheering the spirits, puts a briskness and liveliness into the countenance, and gives a man such an air as shows he is pleased himself and makes him pleasing to those about him. Good men's graces are sharpened by converse with those that are good, and bad men's lusts and passions are sharpened by converse with those that are bad, as iron is sharpened by its like, especially by the file. Men are filed, made smooth, and bright, and fit for business (who were rough, and dull, and inactive), by conversation. This is designed, 1. To recommend to us this expedient for sharpening ourselves, but with a caution to take heed whom we choose to converse with, because the influence upon us is so great either for the better or for the worse. 2. To direct us what we must have in our eye in conversation, namely to improve both others and ourselves, not to pass away time or banter one another, but to provoke one another to love and to good works and so to make one another wiser and better. 18. Hi MCarrol: You know in spite of the teaching to read verses in their context in TWI, we rarely were encouraged to do this. The scripture in Proverbs for example with "Iron sharpeneth iron". So why did we ever think that meant we had to be hard on everyone and treat people with a heavy hand, harsh and loud voice and stern contenance? It seems to suggest the opposite. Try reading these verses in their context with this in mind. Prov 27:14-17 14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him. 15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike. 16 Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which bewrayeth itself. 17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. KJV Prov 27:14-17 14 You might as well curse your friend as wake him up early in the morning with a loud greeting. 15 A nagging wife is like water going drip-drip-drip on a rainy day. 16 How can you keep her quiet? Have you ever tried to stop the wind or ever tried to hold a handful of oil? 17 People learn from one another, just as iron sharpens iron. TEV
  19. I remember hearing about that letter that you all received from Craig. However, I was already out of TWI by then and did not get a chance to receive a copy myself. Oh darn. It sounds like I really missed out. However, I don't really feel so bad about this as you see, I sent Craig a letter myself in June of 1988. And yes, I did sign my name and include my address. You know, just in case he wanted to get back to me. My letter word for word, with one slight mispelling of a certain word and word family to make this more palatable for Grease Spot Cafe, was as follows: June 6, 1988 L. Craig Martindale The Way International P.O. Box 328 New Knoxville, Ohio 45871 Dear Craig: Isn't it wonderful that God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies in Christ? I got your most recent form letter, the special annual Rock of Ages edition. Thank you so very much. Other than the error in it, it was really nifty. On the first side you showed such restraint by not capitalizing the word "you" as it refers to your master apostle V.P. Wierwille. I am so proud of you. You seem to be making such strides in loosening the bands of idolatry in your life. Oh, but there was one itsy bitsy little error on the second side, which I'm sure is not important to you, but which I thought I might point out, because you're so quick to let everyone know how humble and meek you are. You see I have two big toes. Now Craig, reach down and touch one of your big toes. Now Craig, reach up and touch your head. See if you can do it without grabbing anything else in between. Please notice that you have only one head. Now you can't tell me that your big toes take the place of your head in your own body can you? I sure hope not. We also should know that you and I, as the big toes in the body of Christ (although it seems that you desire continued service as the in between member), can not take the place of the Head, which is Jesus Christ, in spite of our wonderful renewed minds, and even with the use of tremendous believing images of victory. Yes Craig, there is only one Head of the body of believers of which you and I are a part by the grace of the new birth. He is not I. He is not you, inspite of your high position in the annals of religious Way world. He is our Lord (Please capitalize Lord from now on when you refer to the only begotten Son of God.), and Saviour Jesus Christ. That's very good Craig. You took that bit of reproof so well. You're making such strides in your believing. I did however, recently hear about your conversation with the limb leader (since then former) of South Carolina. Perhaps, in your future conversations with the leadership of God's Ministry you can show increased spiritual growth by graduating from the use of four letter words to that of six letter. This Way, instead of telling them "Flock you", you can Rise in your believing by saying "I'm a flocker", or "I'm all flocked up". This would certainly be more honest, and we all know the extent of your desire towards honesty and foreplay. I do look forward to your next form letter and with the opportunity to chat with you again. Perhaps, next time I will receive another one of your Way International Finance Department envelopes in place of your Rock of Ages envelope. Furthermore, I can hardly weight to receive my next copy of the Weigh magazine, and with it the opportunity to learn more of God's Word from you the successor to the throne and legacy of the Teacher. What? The bible says in Ephesians 4:11 that He (Christ) gave some teachers (plural). You mean that the apostle Paul, no relation to Victor, writing by revelation said their was more than one. Well we had just better not read that verse anymore. Perhaps, we should only read our collateral readings and Way notes in the margins of our bibles. After all we have quite a few. I'm really not sure that I have such a great knowledge of the bible, because I have spent so much time studying these collateral readings, but doesn't it say somewhere, something like "Search the collaterals for in them ye think ye have eternal life." Thank you so very much for your invitation to this year's festival in Ohio, but I am afraid I can't make it this time. I really did look forward to it. I have so very much to share. Although, I was not in attendance at last year's Rock, I did have the inspiring and electrifying privilege and honor of seeing you, by video tape, teach those privileged few, the proud, the Corps. You looked so macho and handsome in your bullet proof vest, under the heat of August in Ohio. Will you be wearing the same one again this year? Love to you and all my wonderful brothers and sisters in Way land at New Knoxville. Your loving brother in Christ, Mark Sanguinetti P.S. Should you desire to write me a personal return letter, perhaps you should seek the counsel of Walter and others of the collateral research department.
  20. I will have more on Jesus being crucified on an actual living tree later. For now though, work is calling me.
  21. Indisputable is such a strong word. I did the quicky explaination as it was all I had time for. Jesus was crucified on a tree. Sorry Bullinger. You were good, but not infallable. Wierwille just copied his work. If Wierwille ever had an original thought he would not know where it came from.
  22. Here is an error in PFAL. Speaking of four crucified. Better make that two plus Jesus equals three crucified. I just learned the other day that Jesus was actually killed on a tree. Yes, a green growing tree. Apparently, some times people were crucified this way. Sometimes it was necessary because of the speed with which this can be done rather than first building a support to hold the weight of people. No digging of posts necessary. Just find a good tree and nail a support to it with which to nail someone to until they are dead. Actually, this also fulfilled bible prophecy. There are three verses in Acts that say he was crucified on a tree, at least according to the NIV and other bible versions. Acts 5:30, 10:39 and 13:29. A tree is round and multi dimensional which can explain how someone could pass by 2 people and get to the third person and still have him be in their midst. Hate to post and run, but work is calling me. Gal 3:13-14 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. NIV Acts 5:30 30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead-whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. NIV Acts 10:39-40 39 "We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree, 40 but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. NIV Acts 13:29-30 29 When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, NIV
  23. Yes, let us be fair and impartial without accusing TWI leadership of anything evil that they have not actually done. After all everyone knows that their leaders have never accused anyone falsely of anything. And I also have some beach front property in Kansas for sale. Any buyers?
