  1. MJ, What you said really ministered to me. Thanks, WB
  2. mountainsnow, I appreciate your sentiment. It seems like after all of the way people we've met through the years, we should have gleaned some lifetime friends who still stay in touch. Thankfully, I still have some in that category and I'm sure you do too (I hope so). Everyone needs friends who appreciate where they've been but knows they're not staying there forever. That's part of the comradery at GS. Someone once said, when I was looking for a new church, "Go where you're celebrated, not tolerated." That slogan has served me well :)-->. I just won't stay someplace where I'm not treated with respect. Anyway thanks for sharing. Take care, WB
  3. Well, Indiana's was sold off long ago. I believe one of the artists did a drawing of one at ECU that some people matted and framed. Is that one history too?
  4. I know this may not be the exact title of the movie, but it's in Blockbuster now and I wondered if anyone saw it and what you thought about it???? WB
  5. Steve Lortz, Please check your pt. I have a question for you. Thanks, WB
  6. P.S. Oh, also, they recommend that you attend 3 meetings before writing it off. Good thing, because at my first one, it looked so simple what they were doing and sharing that I thought it was Mickey Mouse. I didn't understand what they were doing. It was later that I discovered the real healing begins when one begins to work the program and gets a sponsor (someone who has been in it longer than you have and can mentor you). Al-Anon shows people HOW to change unhealthy thought patterns to healthy ones.
  7. BlueSunday, Hey, please check your pt. I'd love to get together with you and discuss. There are some very good Al-Anon meetings in Indy and as many have said, you just have to visit a lot and decide which or if any will work for you. Personally, I believe Al-Anon is the antidote for waybrain. lol. WB
  8. Kit, Interesting you bring this up now because I just told someone about Al-Anon which does the 12 steps also. I go to Al-Anon and it is the ANSWER I have been looking for for all these years because it teaches HOW TO renew the mind. AA does the same. Yes, I noticed at the very first meeting that the HOly Spirit was indeed present. Even though the name of Jesus isn't mentioned, probably 99% of the people are Christians and say so (and I'm in a pretty strict one--it's not against the rules to say you're a Christian or that you read the Bible). It is against the rules to preach. But, doesn't change the fact that people are helped greatly and the Lord is present. AA was started by Christians and I don't disagree with their reasoning not to make it a Christian organization. Probably a lot of people have come to Christ through this organization because one of the steps to recovery is to call someone in the group when you need someone to talk to and almost everyone is a Christian so what are they gonna talk about? What else? Oh, personally I don't have a problem with the terminology used, namely Higher Power. While reading Of Plymouth Plantation recently about the Pilgrim's voyage to America and their efforts to settle here, I noticed that Bradford made reference to their Higher Power more than once and apparently everyone knew who that was (not Buddah, ha). One point you mentioned that doesn't apply to AA or Al-Anon is "the 12-step programs probably can't get funding if they allow the use of Jesus Christ." They are actually self-supporting and probably self-propagating too! LOL. They are not allowed to accept outside funds. The basket is passed at every meeting and that's how they support themselves. So, to summarize, I support them and recommend them highly, especially to anyone who has ever been in The Way.
  9. HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa :-) I take it no one is holding their breath, TL and UH are you??????? Jim, sorry I got you mixed up with Jim Martin. Goe, hang in there, you'll get some sooner or later.
  10. Jim, You are funny! Hey, I never did figure out how to post on your site. Take care, WB
  11. well, mj, I must say I like your thinking. I'll have to chew on that one for a while :-)
  12. Well, there's still hope for you Geo. You're not serious, are you?
  13. My aunt married someone who was brought up as a JW. He believed a lot of their doctrines up until a few years ago, well, ok, maybe 10 or 15, but who's counting. Anyway, his family always helped them with stuff even though they weren't involved with the JWs and he was a great husband and father--probably the only sane one that one of my aunts married.
  14. Pawtucket mentioned on another thread that there are things he'd hoped to have gotten in twi that he still hasn't gotten to this day. Desires of the heart that still haven't been met for me is a loving family relationship. My family seems to always have one member offended with another in someway about SOMETHING. It seems the best thing I can do is pray for all of us to have a change of heart instead of asking God to "fix" just one of us. That seems to work better than anything for a while until the next episode. LOL! Was anyone else hoping to get something that still hasn't happened for you? WB
  15. Oh, (((((((Digger))))))) I love you. We all do here. Ditto to all the fine words of comfort posted here for you and for us all especially about Jesus carrying that burden for you. Just give it to him, drop it into his lap. He shows himself strong in our weakness. This one is a constant reminder to myself. Yes. Over and over. He will restore. One time I demanded that the devil give back what he stole and several months later, it was back (my old job, ha)! Blessings, WB P.S. I like these verses too: Mark 10:29, 30 Jesus said, Truly I say to you, There is no man who has given up house, or brothers, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children, or land, because of me and the good news, Who will not get a hundred times as much now in this time, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and land--though with great troubles; and, in the world to come, eternal life.
  16. why not post YOUR email address here and see if she responds? Just an idea.
  17. ok. sounds like you've got it all figured out.
  18. Many firms will take a case at no charge in return for a portion of the proceeds in the event they win.
  19. How hard have you called around for one? Are you looking for volunteers to do that? If so, I'm sure there are many on this board who would/could brainstorm and we could collectively figure out some firms to at least ASK if they would take your case. Does the firm have to be in, where are you, Connecticut? If not, that would be even better. Where will the case be tried? Do you know yet? If you want to start a thread asking people for suggestions of firms to go to to request representation, I'm game to join in. I'm just saying why not TRY? Best, WB
  20. Pat, if Steve promises to get some perspective, will you promise to get a lawyer? Just curious. WB
  21. :)--> Ditto Ex10 and Steve on WOW there and Tom and Steve on pot smokers still there in great abundance. I wasn't sure if they realized in the 80s that Woodstock was over. Ha! See Shell, I didn't even bring up the rain, once!
  22. I figured that out pretty early on, Paw, so it hasn't bothered me. But, it's always nice to read directions regarding those things. Thanks, WB
  23. JustThinking, I know this is not what you're asking and I GET that you're wondering about their education level. But when I saw the question for the first time, the answer that came to me before knowing what you were really asking was that the Lord Jesus died for them so I think the Lord would consider them priceless. Just my thought, Love, WB
