  1. What do I believe about Angels? Well, I believe everything that Goey said AND I believe in additon to his wonderful comments that they are all around us (the believing, Christian ones) AND I believe what Rascal said about our prayers calling for help bring them to do warfare for us in the spirit realm--AND what ex-10 said. There now. That's all I believe about angels for right now :-) Also, Michael is one of my favorite movies, ever--and I think they COULD be a lot like him. But, then again, they might each have their own personalities sorta like us. I do know they are respectful of Jesus and the Father. Wb
  2. Looks similar to a diet discovered in the 30s and 40s in the US that cured epilepsy in about 78% of those who had it and tried it. Interesting.
  3. Toad, I REALLY missed you. Thanks for stopping in. WB
  4. I just tell them to go to health and be done with it. WB Naaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Just kidding. I prayed with a couple of Mormon missionaries one time because they asked me to after I invited them into my home, and they turned down my offer to help them financially. I was very kind to them because I believe, like us, they were doing what they were doing for God, really, not the organization. Also, I told them I had been involved with the way and would never get involved with another group like that and they had never heard of it but apparently their superiors had because they never came by again.
  5. Just close your eyes and repeat after me: "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... "Religion is the opiate of the people"... Wake up, Dorothy!!!!! It's time to go home.
  6. Oh, Lord. My family's gonna see that movie and think I KNEW about all of that x-rated stuff....oh well...se la vie....
  7. I agree with Kit. Everytime CES, CFF, or any of the other splinters get together, it's an ex-way gathering and I have no desire to attend those meetings. However, the weenie roast...now THAT's another story. Seriously, I had always WONDERED what it would be like if way people just got together with no other agenda than to have FUN and ENJOY each other's company. So, if my schedule permits, I will hopefully soon find out :-) WB
  8. The subject on this thread regarding keeping improper sexual encounters secret reminds me of something Joyce Meyer said once at a live teaching I attended. She said her father was confronting her and Dave, her husband, about making his (her father's) abuse of her public knowledge. He also refused to admit he had done anything wrong. So Dave wisely said to him, "Well then, if there's nothing wrong with what you did to her, then there's no reason to hide it, is there"? And, with that, he could say nothing. WB
  9. Agreed, Trefor. That's what Jesus said and that's why my husband and I do it...prison outreach. It's really a wonderful way to reach out to folks who are a captive audience, so to speak. We love it. The inmates are so appreciative and many get born again each time. I guess Jesus knew what he was talking about. There is a lot of repentance in there and we feel privileged to be a part of it.
  10. Refiner said: Look, I was not criticizing you, just asking you what you meant. Did you mean JWs only or were you REALLY involved in other cults...meaning you were IN and BELIEVED in what they taught. Forgive me, but RESEARCHING life on other planets is NOT the same as living on them and researching a number of cults is not the same as BEING in them. I was just asking you to clarify what you meant since you did, and let's be honest, say it as an answer to "Why did you stay" and "in The Way" was clearly implied. So, if your answer pertains to the JWs, why not just say so? Stay as long as you like. I'm glad you're here. Also, do you mind telling us what the name of your book is? Many of us here would probably like to read it. I know I would. WB
  11. Refiner, What's that all about?????You said you were never in the way. WB
  12. Pirate, My grandmother got pregnant 10 times. The first one was miscarried at 8 mos. because of a fall. One died when only a few wks. old. No one knew why she had so many when I asked several family members. So, one day I asked her why...she said the first one was a boy (that she miscarried)so she prayed for a boy for 30 years. Their 10th child was delivered on Father's Day, and it was a boy, thank God, and then she quit. I would call that perseverence :)--> Wish I had that kind of faith!! WB
  13. Happy Birthday, Toad Friend!!!! :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)-->
  14. If you think that this qualifies you a Christian Counselor and you intend to represent yourself as such for as long as you can get away with it...even after you've left the cult...you might STILL be in a (splinter) cult.
  15. I could agree entirely with what GeorgeStGeorge said were it not for vp's deceitful teachings that caused countless innocent babies to be aborted. That brings to mind false prophets which puts the "good" we received also in the bad fruit category (Jesus said we can't get good fruit from a bad tree). In an attempt not to appear judgmental, I'm adding that I also believe many false prophets were at one time true prophets and when they were, they did help people and were profitable to the kingdom. At the time he died, I was very saddened. I also thought of him as a fatherly person who really cared about the younger generation. The real effect we have on other people is by the way we live because that is the way we convey to the world what we REALLY believe at that moment. My life is not perfect either. However, my esteem of him has changed since learning of the doctrines he espoused or lived. WB
  16. Raf said: Oh gosh, Raf, awesome point!
  17. OK. NOW I'm on the right thread...
