I wonder if they still send out the teachings on audio and VHS cassettes.

The only things I have left are a couple bibles and the plate we got at PFAL '77 to celebrate the alleged 35th anniversary of the founding of twi. Now, 35 years after that, I have it under a large potted plant. :P

Interesting because I just watched "Your Cheatin' Heart" on TCM, the story of Hank Williams (with some liberties). I do remember one night circa 1994 where we all tore up the old blue songbooks per some directive with no reason why. Can you say red flag? I don't know how many posts I have but I know I'm in the minor leagues. But it's been fun!

I was in the store the other day with my daughter who is now 21, and we happened to see wooden spoons among other cooking utensils. She remarked that one day she realized that wooden spoons were for cooking! I guess you had to be there.

My sister is Outandabout. I played off it, since we're related.

Indeed. If something went wrong in your life, instead of helping you, they would "reprove" you for letting it happen. It took me a while to realize that in life, bad stuff happens. You deal with it and move on that much wiser.

They advanced to the ALCS! Up against the Yankees again. Good to see them bounce back yesterday after that 8th inning disaster in game one.

When the "Word in Business" conference came to the Anatole Hotel in Dallas every Thanksgiving weekend, we locals had the "privilege" of doing all the gruntwork - unloading the trucks, setting up the rooms, etc. At the end we loaded everything back up. All on our own time, of course. I think I even took an unpaid day off from work since we were highly "encouraged" to help. We were required to wear steel toed boots at our cost. And woe be unto you if you screwed up somewhere while you were slaving away.

When passing items at the dinner table they always had to go to your right. So if you wanted something that was in front of the person to your right, it had to be passed all the way around the table until it got back around to you. Got to keep things decent and in order, donchaknow...

Maybe that was the "present truth" at the time.

I don't miss the running around from class to meeting to "special event" etc. and then getting yelled at for not having my family and house in order.
