MAgicians rely on distration and slight of hand--the so called mindreading is done from body language clues and usually a shill in the audience. It isn't the revising of doctrine that drove me crazy it was the lack of acknowledgement that that is what they were doing that baffled me. If you deny the possibility of Miracles--or narrrowly define what constitutes a miracle--you will often miss the miracles that take place. AHEM!!!! Do I believe that Linda and EX10 were healed?? of course I do. I was miraculously healed of a soft tissue sarcoma a few years back. Healing is real. DO I believe VPW did ythe HEaling N OOOOOOOO WHY? Becuase VPW taught in PFAL that YOUR believing is what heals. YOu don't believe YOU don't get healed. GOD honored mine, and linda's and Ex10's faith. THe fact that VPW was standing there does nothing to change it.

THere are questions and then there are questions. If you asked why a certain doctrine existed, the first time around was polite and imparted knowledge. SO that was okay If you failed to "understand" that doctrine (lack of understanding being based on Scripture and Common sense) then the next go around was met with considerable hostility and plenty of reproof. If you were ill fated enough to have gone to step two --you became branded. It was routinely pointed out "lack of meekness" "failure to believe" were major problems for you ON ANY SUBJECT. And it was usually done in a public forum where others could hear, thus teaching them not to ask questions. Other believers were cautioned about you , that there was Debil Spurt influence Etc. I've never run into that kind of reaction in any other church either before or since TWI. WHy not ask leadership questions? Because there were no consistent answers. When "the present truth" becomes the standard and that truth subject to change at a moments notice--woe betide the leader who answers a question not knowing that the answer he has is now the wrong answer

Actually these three were driven in by my parents especially by my mother. TWI JUst made it worse Absolutely hate being late--preplan weeks in advance, alarm clock and back up Yup got to accomplish something everyday ANd the "sponsies"-- that is really scary --this is a true story just happened last night Finishing the border on an afghan had about 2 feet to go. Working really fast--PAt noticed me and made a comment about how fast I was crocheting, and I said "I have to finish, I'm thirsty and can't get a drink until I'm done" SHe asked me to repeat what I said I did and then she said ""OOOOOKAAAAAAY" As I repeated it I realized just how scary it was and just how deep a hold all that teaching (coupled with plenty of ""REproof") was still ingrained in my psyche. I was sitting there thirsty, and would not allow myself a glass of water because of some artificially created rule that some dark recess of my brain --where the voices of TWI and my mother live-- said I couldn't until I finished this Christmas present. It sounds so STUPID-- yet There I was crocheting like a fiend while my tongue cried for moisture. I think the bizaare teachings of TWI And my Mother are gone and then SLAM there they are in all their twisted demonic glory Will I ever be free??

When I here certain sections of Scripture discussed often my brain starts doing comparative analysis between what I've Heard and What I'm reading and what I am now hearing. Actually my departure from TWI didn't make all that big a ripple. By then TWI was relieved to see me go, one less "problem child" to deal with. They figured with my health issues I'd be dead in a year anyway. Now, I'm sure they wish that last ""PRophecy"" had come true LOL

That there is the key--their repentance, their contrite heart-their coming to their brothers and sisters to say "i'm Sorry, Please Forgive Me" Until the leadership can do this-- things will always drift back toward what was. Christ speaks of having to forsake family and everything else to follow him. Many groups rely heavily on this passage to justify some of their actions. I think in many ways TWI did act for Satan --however I don't think they woke up in the morning planning to do this.
