For the curious, "the Savage Curtain" was where the Excalbians (those rock people)

made copies of Abraham Lincoln, and a historical Vulcan,

and pitted them, Kirk and Spock against 4 simulations of villains from the minds

of Kirk and Spock. One of the villains was the Klingon, Kahless the Unforgettable.

For those wondering why THIS Kahless didn't resemble the appearance of the REAL

Kahless (as seen in "Rightful Heir"), the answer is simple: the Excalbians based

theirs on how Kirk imagined Kahless- remember, Lincoln spoke exactly as Kirk

pictured him because he was based on Kirk's mental image of him.

I never really wondered about that.

Of course, it was shown in "Enterprise" that many Klingons became "smooth-headed" due to the Augment virus; many resorted to plastic surgery to regain the "bone-headed" look. This would explain the various versions of Kang, Kor, and Koloth; but Kahless would have pre-dated the Augment virus by centuries. I guess it makes sense that Kirk, having seen only "smooth-headed" Klingons, would picture Kahless that way.

Since we've been abandoned, I'll move this along....

"If this hadn't worked, it would have been necessary to beam your energy into empty space-"

"-and spread my atoms across the galaxy!"

"Yes, I'm sorry, it-"

"No, no, don't be sorry. Every time I get into the d* thing I'm convinced that's what's going to happen."

Is this the NG episode where Data and Pulaski aid a ship where the crew has aged rapidly. They were also "contagious," so Pulaski got old, too. They were able to save her by programming her DNA (from a hair in her hairbrush) into the transporter and "re-configuring" her. If I'm right, it's also the episode where she stops thinking of Data as just a machine.

Yes, it's "Unnatural Selection."

I'm not sure if this is when she gets a clue about Data.

See what happens when Trek ignores its own ban on genetic engineering? :)

"The signal is a standard mathematical progression. It does not carry a specific message."

"But they want us to know they're there."

"Apparently so. Starfleet believes their presence is an attempt to start a dialogue."

"A cause for concern. For all we know, they are threatening our border."

"Everything in the previous encounters suggests a peaceable race. We have to start from there."

Steve!'s response implies the NG episode "Darmok." As I recall, Starfleet had had encounters with the Tamarians but never understood them. WW's first exchange would belie that.

George

Steve! is right.

George's recollection is right- but not his interpretation of the quotes.

So, Steve, please take it.

Assuming I'm right,

"Have you known any twinned Miradorn, commander?"

"I'm afraid I haven't met any before now."

"In my species, we are not just twin brothers... together we are a self... two halves of one being. I am incomplete now."

"The fact that you just killed a man doesn't affect your appetite?"

"You could've left me behind."

"Don't thank me, I already regret it."

"Morn should keep his big mouth shut!"

"Home? Where is it? Some day we'll know... cousin."

  • 2 weeks later...

"How do you stand it, changeling, living where you don't belong? Are you happy?"

"I'm as much a part of the place as anyone else."

"Oh, I doubt it. They tolerate you, but you're not one of them. Being what you are, you can pour your square shape into a round hole, but you don't really fit, do you?"

"Don't you feed your prisoners?"

"The fact that you just killed a man doesn't affect your appetite?"

"It was him or me. And if he'd have killed me, I wouldn't be hungry now."

"That... Croden... is an interesting character."

"I wouldn't know."

"Really? I thought you said you got to know him rather well."

"I never told you that! I merely said we chatted when he bought a drink or two."

"I've talked to several people who saw the two of you engaged in heavy conversations, while Morn here says you even bought the fellow a meal."

"Morn should keep his big mouth shut!"

"I'm sorry if I made things awkward; I didn't have much choice."

"Why not?"

"My needs exceed my skills."
