I don't remember this being touted in The Way, though it is considered improper manners to congratulate an engaged woman, becuase it implies she "finally caught a man." (The man could be congratulated, though!) One is to express "best wishes" (or something of that nature) to the woman, although that probably slams against "Wayspeak," as well! :D-->
It was very much touted in my area, George. Maybe it's because of who was around us. Seems we had quite a few eager beaver, micromanaging, lcm-imitating, schedule and finance scrutinizing, personal life meddling ministers in my area.
Just saying that you won't/can't be at a meeting, no matter how small, without offering a long-winded explanation about how you would really be blessed to be there and why, specifically, you won't be there.

Actually, Mr. H, craig taught...errr....yelled that having an "open mind" was a gold plated invitation for devil spirits to possess you. You are NOT supposed to have an open mind when it comes to da verd aka TWI.

* or whatever worldly event you desired, ie. movies, the carnival, etc.
Or better yet: "I'd rather stay home and watch television!" (TV is the devil's tool, remember?)
