Never been a big fan myself but here's one that's been around since Pluto was a pup. We sold these as a fund raiser when I was in high school. http://www.yahoocake.com/cgi-bin/yahoo/MANR-TMRing.htm

Geeze---And here I was, thinking my Charlie Harper shirt was pretty cool.

They did the same thing with Pentecost. Yammering on and on about how we shouldn't esteem one day above the next only to, often times, make Pentecost Sunday the most heralded day of the year at HQ. Now, my intent is not to denigrate the significance of The Day of Pentecost to followers of Christianity. (Thought I better make that clear before "the strawman" makes an appearance.)

Another factor that I think is relevant to wayfers in particular, is that counseling by an outside source was considered taboo. So, not only were people deprived of valid intervention, they were subjected to advice that had a strong potential for destructiveness.

Orthodoxy, Protestantism, Gnosticism and Reason

Perhaps you would find what you're seeking on a site like this: http://www.sonoma.edu/users/d/daniels/existlinks.html -
With new people arriving on a regular basis, I think this place serves a very important purpose. With that said, though, you ultimately have to do what is in your best interest too. In my opinion, we all spent far too long doing what someone else wanted us to do instead of looking out for ourselves when we were in The Way. On another note, there is a musical forum I participate in that has been around for many years. One of the things that is stressed there is archival value. Even if not another word were posted there, the archives have an ocean of information. So, even if the forums ceased to exist in a participatory sense,, there would be great value in having this information preserved in a readily accessible archive. just my $.02

Orthodoxy, Protestantism, Gnosticism and Reason

Does that mean that radio waves are called waves because they are are light? Gamma rays are not "light". They are electromagnetic radiation. They are neither light nor darkness. They are energy in motion within the framework of the known spectrum. Why do you feel that has any bearing on what's written in the Bible? -

You have stated: "One may note that light exists more in darkness than the narrow perceptible band in the spectrum that we are able to see." My point is that you are referring to "darkness" and "spectrum" in a synonymous manner. That's semantically inaccurate. It makes the analogy invalid. That, in itself, has nothing to do with proving or disproving the Bible. -

Philosophical and theological considerations aside, this really doesn't represent "light". It represents energy, the electromagnetic spectrum, radiation. Light is only a part of the spectrum. Visible light represents roughly the area between 380nm and 750nm. One certainly does not think of radio waves as being "light" yet they are part of this same spectrum. The spectrum is not a measure of light (or darkness), but, rather, a way to understand the relationship of various wavelengths with one another. -
Some of us did, Pond. Some of did. (Except for the part about having "special answers".)

This describes Fellow Laborers to a tee. While it was a requirement of the program to have a "9-5" secular job, we were instructed to use those jobs as a vehicle to witness, use our breaks and lunch to sign people up for PLAF (The Wonder Class) and turn our leads over to local leadership for "undershepharding" purposes. If the job was such that it didn't allow for that, we were to find another job. Outside of that 8 hour time slot time in the outside world, every other moment of our lives was focused on the "program" from 5am until midnight, every day. All 50 of us lived in a block of 8 rented townhouses 30 minutes away from limb HQ. We were on the outskirts of town. There were no phones (except the very public phone at The Wayside Truck Stop) Almost any call being made was subject to long distance charges that none of us could afford. We didn't have T.V.s. There was no time to read periodicals. We were forbidden to date outside the program. It was hard to witness to people at work when you didn't even know what was on T.V. or happening in the outside world. Our existence was, indeed, isolated. We knew precious little of what was going on in other areas of TWI or anywhere else, for that matter. We really didn't have any way to know what "normal" was anymore.

Don't be fooled. There's a female counterpart as well. Their called "gold diggers". They shower men with attention and affection, compliment their good points and offer a feigned sympathy for their misfortunes. All the while they have an ulterior motive of gaining material abundance and financial security for themselves, their children or both. And, unlike women, men are much more reluctant to reveal their naivete to anyone. They feel foolish to have been duped and even more foolish admitting it. Are these women sociopaths? I don't know. Maybe manipulator or opportunist would be a more fitting title. Gold digger seems to describe it well, though.

The phenomenon is not gender specific, that's for sure.

Thank you all for your responses. I already put a $4-5 fan in it after my son gave me the computer. Heck, there wasn't even a shipping charge. :) What I don't understand is, why, after this fan made a clamor for 2 or 3 weeks, it is now suddenly quiet as a mouse. There is no overheating either.

Around here it's been reduced to just finding a job------ANY job!
