  1. I have wondered if, perhaps, VPW's bizarre ideas and behavior might have been the result of late stage syphilis. It's not infectious at this point. No, I'm not saying he had syphilis, I am only saying I have wondered. If he did, it would certainly explain a lot, including his physical ailments.
  2. When, as a child, you first begin to doubt the authenticity of Santa Claus, to whom can you turn? Your parents, your peers? Tough call, that's for sure.
  3. I remember when they came and did a teaching session at FLO. (Cheryl something or other?) Well, as a guy, I have a genetic obligation to seem unconcerned with matters such as this, TWI or no TWI. One thing they talked about, however, caught my attention. They said you should always wear or have in your possession something that is particularly unique to you such as a locket from your Grandmother or a pocket watch from your favorite uncle, etc. Deep southern culture has something similar to this called a "Mojo Bag". It's a little sack that contains such items as a penny from the year of your birth along with staple ingredients that all mojo bags should have. It's part of your identity. Personally, I always carry a harmonica with me, though it is usually out of sight and not always the same one. It's part of what makes me an individual rather than just another brick in the wall. Try it some time. It's something you are aware of though no one around you has a clue. It make you an "individual". I imagine that must have been very important back in the days of slavery. Well, I know I deviated quite a bit from the intent of this thread and for that I apologize.
  4. I've already shared mine on a number of threads. Feel free to paste it if you choose to.
  5. I did an exhaustive word study. (Ok---It was me that was exhausted not the study.) What I discovered is that there is not one place in the KJV that the name "Rudy" appears. Next I will endeavor an exhaustive search of the Revised Standard Edition. Wish me luck.
  6. Maybe I could just jump off the nearest bridge. At least I wouldn't need a password.
  7. I think you have touched on a part of rape that many people don't understand. It's not about sex, it's about control.
  8. I slipped quietly into the background in 1990. I'm still waiting for someone to come looking for me. "We sure do love ya!"----Riiiiiiight!
  9. PFAL/Session #7 Page 31 THE FALL Genesis 2:16,17----Genesis 3: 1-6 1. Questions the integrity of "The Word". 2. Response--By Considering 3. Omits a word 4. Adds a word 5. Changes A word GOD-ye shall surely die SATAN-ye shall not surely die --------------------------------------------------------- Renewed Mind Page 1 Why should we renew our minds? Because many are: 1) weak, 2) sick, 3) poor, 4) uncertain, 5) striving, 6) factious, 7) full of fear, 8) undidciplined, and 9) undedicated. To renew the mind we must: 1) Find the renewed mind principles in "The Word" 2) Study those men who have manifested a renewed mind Page 5 By continually feeding our minds on "God's Word" and practicing "The Word" in our minds, we become transformed (transfigured) by the renewing of our minds because our knowledge, thoughts, and habits have been conditioned. As this new material displaces the old, a new understanding is formed which in turn purifies the heart and builds additional strength to believe and get results. page 12 Your will determines your mind-set-----If your wrong attitude gives you pain, stop thinking about it----WE have to take our mind by our act of will and control it---- Bishop Pillai talked to his mind: "Mind, now you stop thinking that way. Think this way". We need to learn to renew our mind. Make it behave.----Think about God----Repeat verses over and over Dealing With The Adversary Page 1 Satan is constantly ready with endless suggestions for the thought life which will influence the mind of the believer. WHEN WE PERMIT SATAN TO FEED SUGGESTIONS INTO OUR MINDS, OUR SPIRITUAL GROWTH STAGNATES. TO HAVE VICTORY WE MUST KNOW "GOD"S WORD". Page 6 The way to capture any man in anything is to get him to think like you want him to think. IDEAS CAPTURE MEN NOT WEAPONS. If we win a man's thinking in his mind, if we capture his thoughts, we can indicate and control his actions. --------------------------------------------------------- We ate a steady diet of this stuff ----24/7/365
  10. For me, at least, it reinforced the type of "black and white" thinking that is being discussed on the other thread. Hey now here's a thought. If sticking your finger in someones ear is the same as--- , why didn't they just stick their fingers in each other's ears?

  13. All roads lead back to "the lockbox".
  14. Ironic, really, that in PLAF (The Wonder Class) we were taught that the Gospels and OT were for those who only had natural man understanding and yet, to this particular point, they insisted we we give special attention.
  15. Warning!Adult subject matter.
  16. WW When got involved in '71 or '72 (I don't know why I can never remember which), twigs were held in homes, in parks, in cars or wherever. But, it was not as chaotic as it sounds. Part of what we were taught to do was direct the attention away from the mechanics of organization. Things were supposed to appear spontaneous and low key. There was even a written manual that went into great detail about organizing and conducting a branch-sized meeting. If you were setting up chairs or running extension cords, you were supposed to do it in a nonchalant manner that would not cause attention to be directed to the work you were doing. There was some sort of theory that if you looked like you were working, the students would feel guilty. I still find myself doing this at company Christmas parties and such. I casually rearrange tables and chairs, haul away trash, etc. all within plain sight but without calling attention to myself. Suddenly, the room can transform without anyone giving it a thought. It's pretty good stuff as far as theatrical productions go but what are its limits in a fellowship setting? Dunno. BTW--- One of my favorite lines from the manual was the admonition, "Don't pick your seat." Pinky swear---That's exactly what it said. Well, of course, it meant you weren't supposed to sit in the middle of row three with all your pals and have a good time. You were supposed to sit near the back of the room where you would be free to get up at a moment's notice and do whatever needed to be done. Still, I always get a chuckle out of the ambiguity with which it was written.
