  1. Richard Dawkins reads excerpts from The God Delusion and answers questions at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia on October 23, 2006. 37 min. (you can skip the intro... to 3:18) The second is the Q&A following, and features questions from Jerry Falwell's nearby Liberty University students. 70 min. discuss
  2. I'm getting closer to my home.... 1971, in NY 12/23/72, in Madison Sq. Garden, w/ discussion about their stand against drugs afterwards GOOD job, Suda!
  3. Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done, The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won, The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring; But O heart! heart! heart! O the bleeding drops of red, Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells; Rise up- for you the flag is flung- for you the bugle trills, For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths- for you the shores a-crowding, For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning; Here Captain! dear father! This arm beneath your head! It is some dream that on the deck, You've fallen cold and dead. My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still, My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will, The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done, From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won; Exult O shores, and ring O bells! But I with mournful tread, Walk the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. Walt Whitman nope, that's not it. Maybe it's "Ride Captain, Ride" If it is, I have no idea who sang that.
  4. Tom, LOL Very Good Suda, I just couldn't place the melody... it was "right there". Good one. Was it Roberta Flack that had the first big hit with it?

  9. music is what we like to play all day all day all day all day all day to soothe your soul, yeah down at the beach y'all partying down making love or lying around to soothe your mind This song is all about the groove.... not so much the lyrics. Got lots of air time. Y'all know the band.... these are not one-hit wonders.
  10. It's Latin name, Canis Majoris, would seem to mean "big dog" ?
  11. RG.... I was so digging that. Thank you! Waysider.... Bonnie SLAYS me! 1977 live version Long Time Gone CSN good sound quality David gets to shoutin' ================================================================================ ====== trying this: via videosift.com "Sinatra" and "Stevie Wonder"
  12. music is what we like to play all day all day all day all day all day to soothe your soul, yeah next song: music is what we like to play all day all day all day all day all day to soothe your soul, yeah Waysider: it's gettin' kind a long...... guess I'll just let my freak flag fly Feel like I owe it to someone
  13. It's "Deja Vu" (feels like I been here before) here's a funky live version. Does David look like the Lion in the Wizard of Oz, or what? I remember Graham Nash introducing this song at a live concert I was at. He related how strange the song seemed to him when David brought it to them. It became a wildly successful title cut to one of their best albums. I pass to Waysider
  14. Don't Worry Be Happy, That's really something. It was people like you who gave the Way credibility, and they deservedly lost more and more credibility when in the years following your departure (did you say in 86?) people with a working moral compass left, one by one, and in droves. I'm so glad you went back to school, moved on to a job you enjoy, and are living "the good life" (meaning a life of good) in the measure that God has given you grace to see. I hope that there are 1000s of old grads and such that have likewise recovered themselves from the snare of the devil and are living decent and fruitful lives today. I'm still tryin'. Thanks for the encouragement!
  15. OK, more hints. If no one gets it today, I'll pass to Waysider. The band is Crosby Stills Nash and Young The title of the song is never said in the song, but is totally derived from the lyrics. Do you know? Don't you wonder? What's going on.... down under you? Ah bi da.... I think the "what's goin' on" is a reference to Marvin Gaye's song.
  16. If I had ever been here before I would probably know just what to do. Don't you? (skipping second line) And I feeeeeeeeeeeeel like I been here before Feeeeeeeeeeeel like I been here before Yeah, but that's not the title. That is a line. It's a good hint, too. Other hints: It's the title cut from the album. It got plenty of airtime in the early to mid 70's, but not on the pop stations. The title is two words. And you know it makes me wonder what's going on dowwwwwwwwn under the ground
  17. If I had ever been here before I would probably know just what to do. Don't you? (skipping second line) And I feeeeeeeeeeeeel like I been here before Feeeeeeeeeeeel like I been here before
  18. You are still behind excath by about 10,000 posts. You know that.
  19. Plug away, brother! Do you have info published here or elsewhere on the 'net about the content of the book? Apparently, your friends think it has some worthy things to say that don't need the polemic element against DrW. Might be worth considering. BTW, owing to the title.... care to weigh in (or exWay in) over on the "chapter and verse" thread "Preacher" started? We've been talking about Genesis.
  20. I still cannot BELIEVE (but I have to) how Mrs. W was treated in her old age and need. Un-freakin-believable. How we treat one another, not only in the "household," but how we treat all men, is of utmost concern to our God. Religion can make man such a fool. Remember the Samaritan. I wonder what "denomination" or class of men Jesus would have used in place of "Samaritan" in that parable if he'd have spoken it in the 20th Century. All the "pious" relgious folk looked the other way. The despised Samaritan had compassion, and gave him what he needed. The others were hurrying to church, I suppose. "Church" happened that morning by the side of the road.
  21. tragedy lots of thoughtless things happened Someone new to pray for. Thank you, Wrds
  22. Congrats on 6000 posts. pray for Pawtucket
  23. yes, I know. Just wondering about the book. Does anyone know? If it's not published, maybe some of his friends could do it. I'd be willing to help, if I can.
