  1. thanks for the bump, Oakspear I asked on another thread, but I've lost it. Does anyone have information on the book Jim D00p was writing? Is it available?
  2. If I had ever been here before I would probably know just what to do. Don't you?
  3. Embedding disabled by request. Dylan -- Tangled up in blue
  4. Wow. Some good stuff here. Ran across these guys on the Tube. Great cover of an old Byrds tune. Apparently, the Byrds did this song as a cover, too. I'd thought they'd written it. Anyone know who these guys are? Pray for Paw!
  5. Holy Spirit, guide me into all truth regarding these mind pictures!
  6. Wait a minute.... is it Jeff Beck "Better man than I" or something? lol
  7. Waysider, you're slipping. No "Goin' Fishin'"? (is it Taj Mahal?)
  8. I was there too. No pictures here, but thanks for posting yours. I seem to remember playing with a group of musicians "When the Saints Go Marching In" in the dining room. I also remember the rope stretched across the pond and the challenge to cross it.
  9. Sunesis said: Funny how context can make a difference, eh? :) Sunesis: was J1m D00p's book published before he died? I didn't see any mention of it on the D00p thread.
  10. ex70's, doing the dishes can sometimes do the trick just as well as spooning and kissing! another2cents Without risk, there is no love. Trust is always a risk. I'm glad you have your snowflake moment to remember. Brought me back to younger days, too -- my own moments. Liz and I are 30 year veterans, but we haven't "got it down" yet. I do think that some great answers were posted. This thread is a keeper. (( dot ))) (( you all ))
  11. I loved that story, PB.... heard it a long time ago, and you have it perfectly. Thanks for posting it!
  12. ((((((((( debbie ))))))))))) you are truly precious!
  13. welcome, whiz! and God bless you

  14. Thanks, WG. Yes, she did write it. She also does covers of songs from Sara Groves, etc. She lifts my spirits too. You'll be in my heart and prayers. Our Father is the God of all comfort. He is our Shepherd, our Provider, our Covering, our All-in-All. ((((((( WG ))))))
  15. Notawayfer, the JCNG book was listed among the books by the time I went to the site. I found it interesting to read the doctrinal positions, which did set forth some of the most significant ways the Way differs from traditional Christianity, but they did leave the JCNG position out of the "Subjects Handled by the Way." And that is a biggie. Maybe "in time" it'll show up, like when they get to the book review. At first I suspected "Mike," but I doubt if he'd be defending LCM's work, which this site apparently will. To my eye, the fashion choices are beyond Central Ohio. They set the cosmos ajar. But I'd feel less awkward wearing one of those silly ties than to "wear" some of the doctrines they are promoting. M*ke Mart*n's song gave me the creeps. TWI 2, an extension of TWI 1. Would have been a fitting closing song for Athlete's Foot of the Spirit.
  16. “For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.” (1Jo 3:11-12 AV) People who are in what you called a child stage of the love of God are "life takers." A child is helpless and cannot take care of himself, much less someone else. The Lord would have us to grow up and no longer be children, so that instead of taking life, we give life. “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” (1Jo 3:16 AV) The "inner view" of God's spirit, the Comforter, guides us into this truth, which matches perfectly with the written Word, for it was by this same spirit that John perceived the love of God. The family of God is a family of life-givers -- not thieves or those who take advantage of another. They work with their own hands that they may have to give to those who need. They serve and bless even their enemies. Not many can accept this teaching, and perhaps even fewer can live it.
  17. Thank you all for your contributions. It will take me some time to respond appropriately.
  18. I realize that this could be considered cheating, but I dump out about half the grease, and add a stick of butter to replace it before adding the flour. Makes a "high end" gravy. Taste it side by side with some made the other way. Healthier? Probably not!
