    Bill Cosby and VP

I assure you, other former wayfers have been thinking about this parallel between the two of them even though none has yet posted to gsc about it. Intriguing. My thought is that there should be some legit academic studies done from a social science angle on the phenomenon, especially if there hasn't been any done yet.
  2. Are you suggesting TWI is not worthy of mocking these days?
  3. As does most everything else about that creepy cult, especially 28 years after severing ties with it.
  4. It appears I may not have been clear in why I posted the link to the Huff Post story. I just wanted to post the clip. I'm in complete agreement with Krys about each point in her comment. I'm thankful I was out of TWI before having children. But even then, the harshness that was modeled by Wierwille and Martindale was something it took me a long time to shake and it adversely impacted my relationship with my daughter... which I very much regret. It would indeed be great to see a program like Dr. Phil address the subtlety of the mind f**k we got ourselves into as young adults. A one hour television program goes by incredibly fast. I've had the opportunity to participate in one hour radio shows recently and it goes by even faster when you're in the middle of it. Sorry that I wasn't clear. I appreciate your perspective, Krys, very much.
  5. There's a five minute video clip on Huffington Post... not just a trailer.
  6. Carmen and Lindsay are going to be on Dr. Phil tomorrow (Tuesday November 25). Set your DVR.
  7. And the WC group on FB. :) I second that motion!
  8. According to the Sidney Daily News, July 5, 2013, (page 8) Dorothy graduated from Ohio State in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Summa Cum Laude.
  9. Have you got a mouse in your pocket?
  10. Teaching you that concept "VP said it best." was how the guy made his living. The more people he could pull the wool over their eyes, with that schtick, the more money Wierwille made.
  11. It's all about the first part of the 13th amendment to the US Constitution. Not just cheap labor, but slavery.
  12. By golly, it looks like you broke the code. You've figured out the real meaning of the vocabulary and how it's used. Congratulations.
  13. Does the name Ernest Angley ring any bells? http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2014/10/14/tv-evangelist-accused-of-running-cult.html By the way, Sky... I wholeheartedly agree with your analysis on "spiritual protocol" being an indoctrination mechanism.

Did you see smoke coming out of their ears? :confused:/>
  15. I understand you are also new to Facebook overall. It takes some effort to establish your identity in that social network. That's not for wayferish reasons. In order for people to trust you, they have to know you're really who you say you are. There has been an epidemic of people establishing fake/duplicate FB profiles to steal people's identities. To play devil's advocate for a moment, for the people who, in that group, to feel safe spilling their guts, they probably become less than comfortable when someone shows up or tries to show up and won't identify themselves. I'm not in that group, so I don't know anything more specific than that broad general concept. And I'm not friends with the Howard who moderates the group.
  16. Ohio. Don't know if he's living there now, but I visited him in Dayton in the late 1990s.
  17. Howard W*lker is the administrator, if you know him.
  18. It's a secret group. That's even more private than "closed." You're supposed to use your real name on Facebook. But if you join that group, what you post to it can only be read by those in the group. Search engines can't find that information. I only know about it because for a time I was a member (it's been a couple of years). I got tired of the politics of people like Ralph G and Jeff W***ace. JW and some others still thought/think TWI is the greatest thing since sliced bread. From what others have told me about recent history in the group, it took going through quite a bit of turbulence to emerge from the heavy handed "only say nice things about TWI" BS originally imposed by the founder of the group. That founder had also started the WC Ning website that stirred things up here at GSC in 2008/2009. I still don't have a desire to rejoin the group, but as I understand it, several women have been relieved that they've had the opportunity to share their own real life experiences with wierwille and/or martindale.
  19. It's a secret group. That means it isn't subject to search engines cataloging the posts. The only way you can become a member is if you are invited. You can be invited by any member, but might have to be approved by Walker. I'm not a member but have several who are.
  20. "You can't out give God" was just the schtick of a con man squeezing all the money he could from hard working believers. Kit, indeed from a spiritual perspective, there may be some good in it for those not looking for material abundance.
  21. Why would any of you want to be someone other than who you are now?
  22. Consider that The Hunt was not aiming to bust TWI. There will be plenty of time and media coverage on his background once Barnard is apprehended.
