  1. I am positive you are gonna get a plethora of responses to your question BlueCord. I am also sure that many of us here are envious of your decision in thinking how you want to go about the exit - we would exit in a firestorm and get our satisfaction. In my particualar exit, I was "shunned", I broke a rule - back in the 70's the rules were quite explicit and "punishment" fast (please Brer Fox, don't throw me in the briar patch). May I ask: do you want to go quietly or some other way to make a point? Many folks who post here do more so on the weekend so be patient.

    WHAT IS NEW?

I can't believe no one has responded to Oldies' question with the ol'e 13th letter of the Greek alphabet response. Yes, I know Oldies wrote new and not nu.
  3. I must agree with the masses johniam - keep politics off this site. There are numerous forums out there in cyber land for that.

    Ziplining

Ah yes: in one Army training adventure we called it the "Slide for Life"; it was a blast - you did have to drop into the water - what a rush and refreshing all at once. At the Dells, that's in my back yard - did you ride the "Ducks"?
  5. Roy/2007, you have made excellent points. I saw after reading that this was the right forum but can you divide your posts to a singular so we can address them one by one? These topics are all worth discussion but let's hit em in sequence.
  6. Old folks, yes, most old folks I knew in the Lutheran church were not sold out to the trinitarian concept and then when I got married, half my wife's family were Lutheran and the others Catholic and there was not any "acceptance" of Jesus being God or the "TRIUNE" God; yet, they still thought the Holy Ghost was some seperate entitiy, another God persona. Going back to the PFAL and as many times as I sat through it, I did not get a feeling that vpw had trinitarian undertones in the teaching of PFAL. Like any of that means squat. It seems when talking to my cousins, brother, nieces and nephews when the subject comes up, the older you get the less the acceptance of the trinity - of course, this is family kitchen table discussion which is never to go beyound the kitchen. I will say though, all the kids think that Jesus is God, then of course, they also think that Santa is God as well. These are just observations and are not justified on any credible reasearch techniques.
  7. Is it required to use PayPal? I don't use pay pal. I attempted twice with my visa and once again with my debit card but all three times failed. Is there an address that can be posted to send cash/check and if check, to whom made out to, otherwise, I don't have an issue just sending some green stuff. Am I the only person having this issue?
  8. Well the majority of posts don't even address (...The Way Corps: Victims or Oppressors?). There's alot about twi but don't directly address the victem/oppressor {?}. Yes, yes, you can probably drag a thought back to the posed question but that's not answering the question you posed - it's a tangent, it's a related issue. My point: it's a very uncomfortable topic and somewhat unanswerable without first specifying the the era of the 40 year old corp. I made my peace - in my own thoughts, to the corp. They were both. The early corp folk (that I encountered) don't seem to be doing any posting here (I classify them "mostly" as oppresors) and the later corp folk, whom I only know by reading their posts here on GSC appear to me as victems who were trained to be oppressors. Raf, I reitterate: the topic was too general yet, appropriate. I don't think there can be a yes/no (victim/oppressor) answer to the question since the corp eras were so different and the folks in any of those corp were so different.
  9. It's a Hudson Bay blanket coat Ms. W is wearing. I had the blankets but never saw that coat available; the development of the coat goes back centuries. Thanks for the correction DWBH. How could I have forgotten the B&W TV from the late 50's - no, was not around early enough to hear Jimmy on the radio but he was around in the early years of TV. Yep, this belongs on another forum.
  10. Thanks for providing that bit of buffer there waysider but the corp folk can answer for themselves. I am not even sure the almost 50 years of them (corp) understand past and future corp folk. I only hope that they all have gone on to lives with their families and can leave all the twi behind. I pray they re-unite with family, that's so essential, regardless of pride swallowing = good parents and family will just accept you and not throw anything in you face. Love, especially family love, is a powerfull thing; think about it, we at one time thought twi provide something better than that; now that was screwy. I am thankfull to twi for a couple of things but to realize what my family had always meant to me, twi taught me a lie and when I came again to my own, they loved me, like the son in Luke. The emotion I now feel, I can not express in words.
  11. Thanks alot for posting a pic of the ole SOB. Seeing a pic of him engenders a feeling of intense anger.
  12. Change your name to George and I may borrow you a cigar.
  13. Raf, this topic has gone off thread = check out your own original post. I don't appreciate tangents and such: please, if we got something to say, stay on the originally posted thread. The core opinion I have attempted to relate is that the corp, nearly half a century old, has changed. Excuse me Mod, I am attmepting to keep things on thread so we can stay on topic, yes, tangents take a life of there own but then it should be a new thread. Often, I think folks take things off thread because the original topic makes them uncomfortable - that's just an opinion. It is stupid that a novice such as I should have to state rules I was informed about a year ago on how to converse on GSC. Given all that stuff, the topic is: The Way Corp, Victem or Oppressor. It certainly seems to me that a whole hellva lot of folks are not willing to comment on this subject and would rather change the subject. Raf was so correct in his original post = it's a pot stirrer.
  14. I thought this was a good thread topic: thanks a whole hell of alot DWBH for making such a simple topic into a personal hate fest. DWBH, you can drop all of the military inuendoes cause you don't know crap about that, I find it derogatory to any military veterans on this site. Can we just stick to the title thread topic, for once and stop attacking. Is attacking all that is left for some posters?
  15. I want a plastic version of the vpw statue so I can glue it to my dash board. Wow, vpw pushed idolitary of himself, would not that be the worst of all the sins?
  16. What's this thread about: the "The Monotony was Killing Me". Is it that hard to stay on thread/topic? If you can not ID with the thread, then just sit this one out and not let an ego divert the topic.
  17. I think it's sinking, from the bow. When my wife and I left in 1977 (though I still kept getting teaching tapes), we thought then the ship would sink within a decade, we were quite wrong. There's an old saying by sailors: It's an ugly ship but will never sink. I think it applies. The horror of it all is how many innocent folks does it take down with it - hitch your wagon to a falling star. It's sad, not just from my wife and I but so many we personnaly loved, families with kids, sucked down to the depths with falling limbs, branches and twigs. Folks we loved, very close personal friends, wanted us to come back - it was hard cause we knew if we declined, they would no longer be our friends. My wife and I declined, except for a few, we no longer had any friends in our life. In hind sight reality, it all turned out better for us (ironic): we left twi and began living the more than abundant life.
  18. RAF posed an excelent question (go back to the original post - we have gotten off thread). The Way Corp now spans, what, going on 40+ years. I have posted this over and over: You can not group all corp folk collectively. Early, mid and late corp are so different. I have only speculated what caused the differences but they certainly exist. That statement is made from personal experience with early corp and posts made here on GSC by latter corp. I gathered alot of heat on this and other threads because I took the corp as a collective, evidently, it is not. I initially posted back to RAF's question that it was both: victem and oppressor. There are numerous corp folk who post here and I can understand why they take offense but one must realize the position of the non corp person posting regarding time and place. The question by RAF is too general though quite appropriate; I was both amazed by my pigeon hole concept of it all and the vicious responses to my comments. This is not a thread discussion we can entertain unless we specify the corp era. Given all that stipulation, what say, a discussion worth having or just let the thing go?
  19. Just getting back to the thread topic. What my wife and I knew is that we could not afford the payment of the AC or the time off work to attend the AC, we wanted to. We were already sponsoring too many corp folk at the time and doing the 15% ABS (can we get a discount?): at the time, we just thought it was our lack of getting things together. In hind sight (after reading the posts about the Advanced Course here one GSC), I don't think we missed a thing other than wasting "more" money. This is just one more bit of enlightenment that I have gotten from GSC. Now, that would have been back in the 1976 era, was the course better back then? The question is rhetorical but answer anyway if you like.

    Joke on MRAP

I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless man who asked me for a couple of dollars for dinner. I took out my wallet, extracted ten dollars and asked,"If I give you this money, will you buy some beer with it instead of dinner?" "No, I had to stop drinking years ago," the homeless man replied. "Will you use it to go fishing instead of buying food?" I asked. "No, I don't waste time fishing," the homeless man said.."I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive." "Will you spend this on hunting equipment?" I asked. "Are you NUTS!" replied the homeless man. "I haven't gone hunting in 20 years!" "Well," I said, "I'm not going to give you money. Instead, I'm going to take you home for a shower and a terrific dinner cooked by my wife." The homeless man was astounded. "Won't your wife be furious with you for doing that? I replied, "Don't worry about that. It's important for her to see what a man looks like after he has given up drinking, fishing and hunting."
  21. I understand your point waysider but I found it refressing just to take the concepts, statements and words at face value without a prior bias. So much of what vpw taught was plagerized and stolen from good researchists, Biblical scholars, etc. Knowing that, I can not throw things out just cause I heard vpw teach it or off shoots teach it. I gotta do more homework. If it was vpw originated, then I will take into account the speaker but it is very difficult to know what, if any Biblical stuff was originated by him or his research folks. I came to understand that vpw did not always want to incorporate what some of his research staff discovered, isn't that why so many of them left twi?
  22. Excellent observation there Bolshevik. How well the shoe is now on the other foot when twi came out with that "Burn the Chaff" book burning movement. As brain washed as I was back then, it still stank of 1930's Germany.
  23. Yes,waysider, I am with you on that. I hated watching the news with my WOW branch leader. I am quite certain that DE was not doing that. The man had sins but I certainly don't wanna cast a stone for something he wrote with good intent and not outa twi dogma. That part about being thrown under the buss, now that's a topic I would like to see evaluated further; he did something that had been twi SOP but the big HQ decided to make an example of him in order to make themselves look holyier than thou. Just MRAP's little opinion. Gee, we are way out on a tangent this time.
  24. I recently listned to a political talk show, one that I often dial into. The narrator mixed it up, he refused to say who made the quote and then asked the listening audiance if they agreed or disagreed with the statements. I was totally astounded by the folks who called into the show, they were as well when later in the "show" he revealed who said what and how the callers agreed with folks they opposed. That's how I see this forum. Amazing, the instant attacks, not based on what has been said by the off shoots but on who said it. The attacks don't address the subject matter nearly as much as the attacks on the person who said it. When I read that, I immediately see the poster came with an inherent bias and after that, it's hard to accept the critisism.
  25. To be plain waysider and WordWolf, I think Doug Emmerson was kidding about that "devil starting a war" in an effort to keep up my moral and let me know it was not my fault - and, I don't think he intended for me to take it serious (we knew each other better than that). I should have never posted that. Since I am going through all the old, very old, military stuff, along with 50+ years of other crap, I hope I run acrosse those letters. If I do, I will share those things if appropriate. I have come to understand that Doug Emmerson had issues and got thrown under the buss (as an example), he made some very bad decissions and paid for them. Regardless, he was always a stand up man with me and my fellow Sailors, we worked side by side upgrading the limb HQ grounds and buildings on those many Saturdays - he liked getting his hands dirty. I was impressed that he took the time to spend with us and write letters; you see, that was my first encounter with twi leadership. Depending on your point of view, like Obie Wan Knopee stated, yada, yada or should it be yoda, yoda. Bottom line WW and waysider, I would give Doug Emmerson a pass on the "war" thing.
