  1. "It's Christmastime, there's no need to be afraid..."
  2. If that was with Linda Lu, then this is "Gimme Three Steps", by the inimitable "Lynyrd Skynrd". (IIRC, they were named after Leonard Skinerd, a high school teacher, who HATED rock and roll.)
  3. [Well, since this was brought up, I'd like to look it over. My comments in boldface. of course.] Thanks for bringing this post back!
  4. ...and, dmiller's point is CONFIRMED. He reports wrongdoing he's seen, and instead of getting offended by the WRONGDOING, someone makes it all dmiller's fault for telling anyone of wrongdoing. So, wrongdoing is acceptable, reporting or discussing wrongdoing is bad and repugnant. Seems to me the values-system some use- which was instilled in twi- is in error.
  5. I first heard about it when discussing the famous "it's a cookbook" line with someone- who then said it was used in "Madagascar." The lemurs were used to the fossa attacking them, and one lemur held up a book titled "To Serve Lemurs" and announced, in horror, "it's a cookbook!" BTW, the monkey that uses sign language-he's using REAL sign language. When asked to read a shipping label for some penguins, the speaking monkey says it says "ship to..." but the signs begin "'Tell the tiny pea-brained birds that the sign reads: Ship to ...'"
  6. "We've been ratted out, boys." "We killed them and ate their livers!" "It's been a pleasure serving with you, boys." "All hail the New York Giants!" "I see twenty-six blatant health code violations. TWENTY-SEVEN!!" "Grand Central Station. It's Grand... and it's Central." "Dagnabbit! I missed the express! Looks like I have to take the Stamford local." "It's a cookbook!" "I like them, I like them! I liked them first! Before I even met them I liked them! As soon as I met them I liked them right away! You hate them compared to how much I like them!" "Oh shut up, you're so annoying!"
  7. It's neither the recent "Hitchhiker's" movie, nor the BBC one from back when.
  8. Probably the simple mistake of "reading fast" would be the reason it seems that way.
  9. The first line DOES evoke Batman, and IMHO, was meant to be a shout-out. This is neither Batman nor The Untouchables.
  10. Close enough. "Not Fade Away." AFAIK, it's a Buddy Holly song.
  11. A) If you were new like Jeff Sjo, I'd buy that you don't know what's in Mrs W's book. We've discussed them for YEARS, on and off, around here. Unless you've been trying VERY HARD to avoid its contents, I can't buy you're truly ignorant of it. B) If you had been away for weeks, I'd buy that you don't know the contents of the relevant threads, and what was officially published by twi in books. As it is, I'd be hard-pressed to buy that it's anything other than a coy pretense. If you want to say something outright, try actually saying it. This "saying it without saying it" doesn't look honest, and reflects poorly on the poster.
  12. Can't "message" you about it until you set your account to accept messages... Hey-looks like you were right again. Instead of addressing this, they changed the subject and pretended you didn't bring up anything Mrs W brought up. Which is consistent, because they pretend she didn't bring it up either. Watch:
  13. BTW, Jeff, I don't know if you know this, but your "accept personal messages" option is switched off, so nobody can send you a private message. If you don't want this, please switch it on.
  14. "Don't know where you're goin', only know just where you've been, Sweet little baby, I want you again."
  15. "We've been ratted out, boys." "We killed them and ate their livers!" "It's been a pleasure serving with you, boys." "All hail the New York Giants!" "I see twenty-six blatant health code violations. TWENTY-SEVEN!!"
  16. I channel-surfed past "Twins". I didn't see any of the quotes, but it put the name in my head while I was trying to remember who said that line.
  17. Care to put another quote? (I try to update about every 24 hours, myself...)
  18. *snaps* I've got the voice. It's TWINS, isn't it?
  19. Here's what I kept confusing dooj's post with.... "I´m a gonna tell ya how it´s gonna be" This has been covered, BTW, so there's more than one artist, for the curious.
  20. Not directly related to the thread's subject, BUT related to this post, anyone ELSE ever notice that vpw made fun of people "lifting up holy hands" during taped pfal, then discover that the practice was in I Timothy 2:8? (This happened with him and comments at ROAs about "waiting on the Lord", too.) ======== Oh, and I'm glad coolchef ASKED and others ANSWERED. I think it's good to look these things over and make evaluations one way or the other.
  21. "I Want to Bang on the Drum All Day"? Used to hear that every Friday afternoon.
  22. Well, you picked the right season for this one. I was wondering why I haven't heard anyone play this one yet in stores. "Snoopy's Christmas." Snoopy vs the Red Baron, over Christmas.
  23. *thinks* I KNOW I've heard that first one somewhere.....
