quote:
"Prayer for a Marriage"

by Steve Scafidi, from Sparks from a Nine-Pound Hammer (Louisiana State University Press).

Prayer for a Marriage

When we are old one night and the moon

arcs over the house like an antique

China saucer and the teacup sun

follows somewhere far behind

I hope the stars deepen to a shine

so bright you could read by it

if you liked and the sadness

we will have known go away

for awhile – in this hour or two

before sleep – and that we kiss

standing in the kitchen not fighting

gravity so much as embodying

its sweet force, and I hope we kiss

like we do today knowing so much

good is said in this primitive tongue

from the wild first surprising ones

to the lower dizzy ten thousand

infinitely slower ones—and I hope

while we stand there in the kitchen

making tea and kissing, the whistle

of the teapot wakes the neighbors.

Lots of happiness to you both.

Wedding Vows

Tom, you have brought a beautiful serenity into my life… Your humor, your honor, your intelligence, and your voice of reason are just a few of the gifts that you bring me every day.

It is with gratitude that I get to be your bride today… I treasure our beginnings and I promise to be a full vested partner in our life together. I take you to be my husband just the way you are every day and in every way.

I vow to love you, your clipboard, and to hold up my end of our partnership. I vow to stand beside you at all times and to tell you the truth. I vow to respect the time you need to recharge yourself.

I vow to listen to your point of view and be the best wife I can be… To make sure we have room in the cupboards for your tea and room for even more love, warmth, serenity, joy, and laughter in our home and in my heart.

In addition to the vows I wrote I added to also make room for more Turtles. Oakspear has a Turtle collection that has grown quite steadily!!!

At the grocery store where Oak works he is notorious for having a clipboard and that his clipboard and organization skills are quite awesome when we are planning other events...

The flow chart for the wedding was amazing!!!
