Did stopping tithing make it worse for you, or better?
allan w. replied to Eagle's topic in About The Way
Then pray do tell where all the LDS tithes go , Mo ? -
No..but I had an e-mail served on me by twi lawyers in New Zealand because of our website. Our N.Z. site has been dropped recently (although I notice it still appears when typed in). We did not 'drop it' because of them, in fact I just ignored them for a year. In fact I sent a reply email to the lawyers (quite a well known group) directing them to GS and asking them if they really wanted to be associated with a group like twi ??!! I never heard anymore. YAY for GS !!!!! Neither did I 'drop the site' because of Garths disparaging remarks about it !! It was just outdated, we moved to Australia, a new guy at our church constructs websites for a hobby and the new site will be up late this week or early next week.

I dunno...I'd rather wait and get Sir G's take on it before I comment.!!

Oh..o.k. I don't think he taught Jesus Christ is not God, the dead are not alive, the nine manifestations, hell is not a place of eternal torment, the Holy Spirit and the holy spirit, the four crucified, J.C. our passover, etc...etc... for any ulterior motives except maybe at times to BE controversial (which is often good for publicity). He could have taken the 'easy road' and stayed with the 'orthodox' type beliefs. As some of you said, he was charismatic enough to pull it off anyway. Maybe in hindsight he should have taught on polygamy, which would have kept a lot of 'smouldering' crotches satisfied, but I don't think he believed that was 'scriptural' !

Geesh..I don't know about others but I'd feel a bit 'uncomfortable' throwing stones VPs' way in the name of errant doctrine whilst sitting in the middle pew of another church that was just as ( if not more ) 'outlandish' in departure from 'orthodox' teaching. (hope Belles still got me on ignore) !! p.s. And you can't hit the moderator button on this one because I've put duct tape over it , so there !!

Well said T-Bone. My take on them is that they believe that they are so 'right on' with 'The Word' that God kinda looks past the sin stuff ( for them).

The same, however, beat this...Since leaving in 1995 I have had basically 3 jobs. ALL turned out to be 40 hr week pay for an average of 15 hours work put in PLUS a company car. For minimal effort I advanced the companies turnover substantially and in one case quite substantially. Also I firmly believe that a.b.s. (which I still do) was directly/indirectly involved in 'revelation' received on a cupla occasions that saved at least two of our childrens lives. I guess what I'm saying is don't just look at the 'bottom line'. And if I may refer anyone interested to www.cffm.org, then click on audio and listen to Kevin Gigous' "overflowing witness", Wayne Clapps "consider your ways", and his latest, " the two annointings". Also Bob Darnells last one ( can't remember title ). Some new stuff I hadn't heard even after 9 years in the way. -
It was quoted at a Rock of ages up on stage by LCM.

Wow, they must be pretty bad if even Roy finds it hard to love them !!
-
Yeah...I think his comments of driving out to the wow field and dragging tha offending person/s behind his car with chains wasn't somehow aimed at the daimonion if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the compliment Chas...I'll pass it on, she'll be tickled !

What does it take to change your mind?
allan w. replied to T-Bone's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
A guy I hung out with for years in twi realised one day while driving around that unbelievers seemed a lot happier than him. That helped change his mind very quickly !! -
Um aah er.................never mind !!

Point taken !!

Goey with all due respect, I wasn't out trying to prove anything about the Epistles (as far as I remember). It's enough for me to just believe them at face value. They work for me and (seem) to fit in with the other writings and there is nothing in there that is 'outlandish' in any way. To me they appear to flow with the other writings, something the gospel of Thomas, Judas and others don't.

No...what Groucho said WAS what was taught..It It It It, not a him or a her but IT referring to the gift, the hs, the car battery whatever. That is what was taught...geeesh, never mind, now I've got a headache. Hang on, maybe it's the holy spirit protecting me this time ??!!

Too true...I grew up with an intense dislike of 'dark coloured' people, just because of some things I went through and people I associated with. As some of you know..I ended up marrying my coffee coloured sweetheart and now have 6 beautiful latte` coloured kids. The guy might be given the benefit of the doubt.

Belle...keep me on ignore ...please. You're over on another thread exhorting people to stay away from OM now...pllllease. Ever heard the term..busybody ?? Mo, if you were in twi and never heard it taught that there is no trinity or that the h oly s pirit is no more than Gods' active force, not a distinct person, then I don't know what you were hearing ??
-
"I would respectfully ask that no-one respond to the dust mite...." There you go again Belle..stomping your foot again, trying to tell everyone else what to do.!! Sorry gal..but just to remind you, a fruit salad isn't just made up of tarts and gooseberries !
-
Agree with you too Sogwap (S.on O.f G.od W.ay of A.bundance and P.ower) ? You're still an 'innie' aren't you ??!! I hope not....anyways, as I said before. IF LCM ever genuinely repented he would have to be under 'spiritual suspicion' and 'micromanaged' for the rest of his life !!

To CKMkeon (and other Wierwille defenders), an Open Letter
allan w. replied to Zixar's topic in About The Way
Yeah..I don't think he was happy to dwell with her. They lived in a place with no electricity and he told her that if she wanted a hot bath in winter to go get a better paying job...o.k... so maybe it wasn't JUST the church thingy !! -
Mo...if you were ever involved in twi surely you would have known what we believe ?? And thankyou for your concern..but I already know I won't be making it into the higher lds heaven and even if I did, my wife and I already agreed...we'd be the first couple there to ask for a 'celestial divorce'..!!! And I'm glad for you and every other lds that Jo Smith did not 'corrupt' the Word like VP did..I'd like to personally thank him...could you tell me which spirit world he's floating around in at the moment ?? And....just a thought...have you tried talking things over with God ? You know..Jehovah Elohim. He is a source of wonderful comfort too.

Looking Beyond a Monochromatic Faith…

Damn...wheres the next bi*ch fight happenin' ?? -
Yes Mo...IF the holy ghost is/was a PERSON some of your statements could be true. However, I do not believe this to be the case. "Good morning holy spirit "

Sounds like Craig might have 'come to himself', if fleetingly. I always found him very dynamic teaching the Word, I would even say one of the world-wide best. It's such a shame he didn't utilize it for 'good'. Unfortunately, the crap he and others caused 'seared their conscience with a hot aairon', to the point where they could never be fully trusted again.
