  1. Yeah..the picture posted doesn't really exemplify a typical catholic reaction does it ? Maybe a picture of VP with a condom over him dipped in urine ?
  2. When I asked "which one is more powerful, which one would win at the end of the day" I was thinking more along the lines of which one would a man or woman be prepared to die for, to cross thousands of miles of ocean for. To dedicate their life to a pursuant of one thereof, therefore ?
  3. I still believe what VP said about personal prophecy and that is "God is big enough to tell you something first..." That has kept me in good stead over the years, even in twi. I remember telling a corps brother, Bo Th**as that Selina and I had decided to quit the Family Corps and go home. His reply to me was "if you're at peace about it, it's the right decision." !! I heard him and his wife Re**e are still in, I hope they haven't changed too much. Anyway, back to 'personal prophecy'. I have been along to differn't churches where they do this and it's pretty much always the same.."thus saith God Almighty..you will be a mighty warrior for the Lord..or..you will preach before thousands...or..(fill in the blank). Often I'm sure it appeals to peoples egos. I was at one meeting where a lady shared that a few weeks earlier she had been prophesied over and had been told that this person could see her house surrounded by poo. About a week later her sewerage backed up ! So where's the profit in that ?? Sorry, but PP sounds a bit too much like 'spiritualism' to me.
  4. That's an interesting analogy David ( about the ram caught in the thicket ). I think there are a number of correlating incidences about any one particular subject throughout Gods' Word. The blood on the door posts in Egypt, passover lamb etc.. all pointing to the Messiah. Makes one wonder how the Jews 'missed' him ? Mind you...plenty 'miss' him after the fact too.
  5. so is there a better explanation for 1 Corinthians 14: 27 "Let them interpret the tongues" ? and verse 13 same chapter " Let him that speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret "?
  6. Exie (unknowingly) hit on a good point, and that was getting our mouth and tongue 'accustomed' to speaking differn'tly. I know it's a (waybrainer) but imo does have some merit. As I said before to Tom, my wife and I have heard 'recognizable tongues' spoken by someone which was unknown to the speaker whilst in twi and quite a bit more outside of twi. One thing I have been pondering on and that is whilst in our last trip to the Fijian Islands, we heard one young girl whose tongues were a variety of mixed up recognizable languages !! I know God is not the author of confusion...but then I figure all languages are known to Him anyways ??!! BTW..she 'appeared' to interpret it beautifully.
  7. I would say Sir Guess that you are probably right as far as describing the differentiating charecteristics of the 'love bug', however , you have left out one of the important definitives of your adjectiveness and that is the 'final destination' or purpose of the spectrometer. First I will ask a question..which of the two is more powerful ? Which one would 'win out' at the end of the day ? I believe the masculine is purposed to eventually bring us to the (feminine)(if you like). New heaven and earth definitely sounds 'agape'.

    2006 Cones

Western Australia has hurricane number seven heading towards it. That's number seven for THIS season ! (Spiritual perfection) ??!!
  9. Thats' the LEAST spiritual thing I've ever seen CM post ! Hang on...maybe that was very spiritual.
  10. Yes Belle...reading between the lines you want some arguing, not dialogue. Are you bored with VP bashing for the time being ? OOps..just remembered...you have me on ignore so you won't see this reply !
  11. And yet I've shown it to a number of people from other denominations who have thought it was fantastic, so go figure. Maybe it's a bit of the 'familiarity breeds contempt thingy ' ??
  12. Scientifically you'll never get to the 'root cause' Pscycologically "" "" "" Biologically "" "" "" Because the 'root cause' of it is SPIRITUAL. This is one of those examples where 'science' is at odds with 'religious answers.
  13. Ha Ha ha ha ha Bramble...there are many ex-mormons (just google in ex-LDS or ex-mormon or whatever) and in my travels I come across MANY teenage mormons who have given it the flick because of it's repressive rules. How can anyone live w/out coffee or coca-cola ??!! We also have a number of ex-LDS attending the church we are involved with. O.K. look everyone.. Most everybody now has an 'inkling' on the basic LDS beliefs without all the 'rose-coloured' clean-cut missionary glasses on. I will leave the LDS topic alone and go on my next crusade, I promise. I don't know what my next crusade will be but I might decide after a shot of drambuie and a nice cigar. And seeing as Mo has exhausted her churches beliefs maybe she won't be 'prosetlysing' (sp.?) so much !! All the best Mo (and I mean that ).
  14. No David, Raf said to me "see you there". I coulda been waiting a lifetime !!
  15. Thanks for encouraging me to go along then Raf ??!!
  16. There may very well be errors in pfal and there probably are.I have never been in the 'pfal is God breathed camp', however I still propound that it is FAR more informative and enlightening and accurate than ANY other Biblical addendum. On the other hand...the book of mormon is proclaimed as a 'modern day, God inspired, DIVINELY translated piece of work, so how does one defend it's errors ??
  17. Tom...I never said I never heard known languages foreign to the speaker whilst in twi, in fact I did a couple of times. Once was when a fellow in-res by the name of Rao*l Tov*r did some tongues with int. The tongues were in 'Cook Island' maori (my wife is from there) and she whispered in my ear the translation at the same time Rao*l did !! Let me know if you want to hear more ? BTW, is he still on staff ?
  18. ...And I'm glad I have btw..because now we have gone from nice 'clean-cut' missionaries doing lawns for anyone (not expecting anything in return) to getting to the 'dark truth' about spirit being visitations and secluded temple ceremonies that promise eternal heaven for LDS married couples etc.. It's good to be 'out in the open' like you bag twi for not being. I notice also that some of your 'supporters' have been a tad quiet on their views of your spirit-being visitations and more recent temple views, I guess they're just nicer than me !
  19. Actually 30 years out from the beginnings of civil war there was plenty of talk about it, slavery, and other related topics. Either it was a lucky guess or Joe really could have got the info direct from one of his spirit being visitations. As for the other stuff, generalisation taken from the Bible.
  20. We believe it because Jesus said it (and he oughta know). IF he lied then myself and many, many, many others were duped BIG TIME !!.......................... IF ...............................he lied. Also, regarding tongues, if you want to see or hear tongues being spoken in a recognised local language by a complete foreigner who has no idea what he/she is saying, then I suggest you travel and get around more in Christian circles ( going to and from a corn patch in Ohio doesn't really qualify o.k. )...come travel with me through the South Pacific Islands and you'll see/ hear that on a (fairly) regular basis.
  21. Look...I know I'll cop more flak for this, but if you're talking about 'fore-telling' Mo, how about your wonderful Joey Smith ? Did he ever prophesy ? He obviously didn't 'see' the lynch mob coming that strung him up (although he managed to shoot a couple before they grabbed him) I know you said before in a previous post that as a mormon you are expected to 'witness' your faith wherever possible. It is obvious to me that that is what you are doing, succinctly bringing up these topics so you can then jump in and 'witness your faith'. That's rather dishonest don't you think. I don't think VP made such a big deal of 'fore-telling' which I believe is a good thing after seeing so much egotism etc.. attached to it in pentecostal churches. And as far as I know he was never visited by spirit beings like your boy ( however some may say VP WAS regularly visited by the spirit of Jim Beam !!)
  22. Chas..I think if anyone has a real love for God, just about nothing can 'rock the boat', the Bible is full of examples of that. Awesome worship can/should be manifested often by way of music and excitement for God, listen to any of Hillsongs demos etc.. I take my hat off to my wife Selina...when we realized that that was one of the 'key' ingredients missing in our services, she set about setting up a worship band for our church (pretty much from scratch). God blessed us with some very talented musicians from a cupla other churches. Music plays a very important part in loving worship, just as love songs do in any relationship.
  23. I never did fall for the old...'berate,ridicule someone and then be super nice to them trick' (even back in twi.) !!
