Well Allan, ACTUALLY, which is it? <_< Sensationalism for sure! There is a little truth in most stories that make the headlines - this one is no exception. The truth here is that a vegan diet (a diet with no animal products of any kind), unless supplemented with B-12, is deficient in this vitamin, and has been found in very rare cases to result in problems of vitamin B-12 deficiency. B-12 is made by bacteria and is stored in the body parts of animals that eat these bacteria. If you search the medical literature carefully, you will find about a dozen cases ascribed to a vegetarian diet (search www.nlm.nih.gov) - and almost every one of these has made front page news. Compare this risk to 1.25 million heart attacks (half fatal) annually in the USA that get almost no media attention and are accepted as part of our modern way of life. B-12 is the only legitimate criticism of a healthy vegan diet. There are no other nutritional deficiencies caused by a vegan diet of whole plant foods - in other words, there is no chance of calcium, amino acid, protein, vitamin D, essential fatty acid, zinc, or iron deficiency - except B-12 deficiency. Here are some Facts for the Diet Rich in B-12... For the unborn infant the consequences of mother following the Western diet are: 1) An abnormally large baby that is too big to fit through the mother's birth canal, and therefore requiring a cesarean section - the medical description is "failure of progression of labor."1 Twenty-five percent of mothers deliver by this major surgery in the USA. 2) Thousands of birth defects annually, of which most are known to be due to too little folic acid in the expectant mother's diet.2 Folic acid is from foliage, in other words, plants. Birth defects from folic acid deficiency include spina bifida (the spinal canal fails to close in development of the spinal cord, and when left exposed, often causes paraplegia), and anencephalia (where the child is born without a brain). Heart deformities, cleft palate, and many other birth defects are also caused by eating too few vegetables by the mother prior to and during early pregnancy. You will never see folic acid deficiency in a healthy vegan mother. For the young child the Western diet causes: 1) The beginnings of atherosclerosis, known as fatty streak development. Children raised on cow's milk, meat, and other delicacies found on a typical B-12-sufficient Western diet show fatty streaks in their aorta beginning at 9 months of age and all children on this diet have this artery damage by age 3 years. 3 These streaks evolve into well-known heart attacks and stokes in adulthood. 2) Obesity and overweight affect at least 25% of children on the Western diet. Approximately 22 million children under 5 years of age are overweight across the world. If you have any doubts about the wisdom of a healthy vegan diet then look around your neighborhood. Children on B-12-sufficient diets with lots of ice cream, milk, hot dogs, egg muffins, and chicken nuggets are fat and sick. The obvious signs and symptoms are snotty noses, ear infections, stomach aches, and headaches. Get to know them better and you will find them constipated with bloody bowel movements. The pain and suffering inflicted on children by the American diet is so brutal that if it were administered with a stick, parents would be put in jail. Because the instruments of injury are a fork and spoon, everyone ignores the agony as if nothing was out of the ordinary, and nothing could be done to remedy the problems - you know so well that is not true. For the Adult the Western diet causes: In order to avoid a one-in-a-million risk of an anemia or neurological problem caused by a vegan diet alone, you risk a: 1 in 2 chance of dying prematurely of heart disease, 1 in 10 chance of breast or prostate cancer, 65% chance of being at least overweight 22% chance of being obese almost certainty of arthritis, indigestion and/or constipation. (I could go on for several pages) So, which way of eating should be WARNED AGAINST?

I think this is one of the verses that 'teaching' came from... if you believe it, it's yours, just thank him. This teaching doesn't line up with other verses in the Bible, and is yet another area that needs some more thinking and 'work' <_<

This is such a heavy topic~ The Amish children are obedient, I've never seen them talk back or question ANYTHING, except the little 5 year old, who's house we were in, she was asking her Mom in a tiny whisper about my clothes, hair, jewelry & nail polish, all while hiding behind 'Mom's Dress', peeking out and getting a glimpse of the 'outsider'. We first met our 'Friends' in 1988 after our daughter was born. We were in TWI, I was a cosmetologist and my husband an electrician. Two services they did not ‘Believe in’, AND I had QUESTIONS about their 'Faith'... I think I acted like an idiot with my way brain and all This recent crime is a PRIME example of why child molester/pedophiles should DIE... this guy did horrible things to LITTLE three & four year old girls when he was 12 and he liked it, couldn't get it off his mind... and 'went out of his mind'... ready to DO IT AGAIN & DIE AFTERWARDS~ sick, just sick

Bagpipes, wonderful post! TWI spends too much time comparing the Bible to 'their own' lives, as if today's life and each individual would have to 'fit' into some past written senario. Is life just a bunch of 're-runs'? It seems the point of the ONE BODY, is that we all work together, and the brains of the operation would be Christ... and even THAT they couldn't get right... they've cut themselves off from a whole world of Chirstians. But, on the lighter side... if what they're saying is true... that would make Mr. Wierwille & Ol Craig... nothing more than a big, brainless 'Donkey's Icky Crinkled Korpusel'

We have some close Amish friends. Met them after following an 'Eggs For Sale' sign, down a LONG dirt road. They speak a broken German in their home, and my Mom's from Germany. We hit it off right away, and have been back to visit many times. We're invited in each time, once for a Birthday Party, where we sat around their HUGH oak table, eating cake & ice cream, sang some Birthday songs to them, and Sam, the husband kept making JOKES to my husband about his Profession... an ELECTRICIAN This family had a pay phone installed by their barn, and they will call just to say hello, keep us abreast of the family happenings, or sometimes to place an 'order' from Sam's Club. We share birthday greetings, and Christmas Presents. They DO live what they preach, and they'll answer any question you have... They are strict with their children. My Parents went to one of their weddings. The children ate at a different table than the adults. (and the adult male & female’s were separated) There were LOTS of little kids, ALL SILENT, and basically MOTIONLESS for HOURS! There is a dark side, a very dark side, riddled with abuse and horrid crimes, usually against women & children... but the outside world doesn't hear much about that stuff... :( It would be nice for it they were as they seemed, peaceful & good.... Unfortunately, what goes on is sometimes worse than TWI... :(

Not too many years ago, witnessing came along with NEW INSTRUCTIONS Time seemed to be of the essence. Don't WASTE your time with people who want to argue, or are unsure. God will show you who will believe, right away. If someone doesn't respond in a positive manner, within a few MINUTES, shake the dust off your feet & MOVE ON! Sheesh... most people I know had to think about it for a while... some it took YEARS to get involved with TWI... Guess those THINKING type of folks will be safe now

Andressohn Family~ Raw Living Foods A Christian Family, who have raised FOUR, VERY HEALTHY CHILDREN, and their FIFTH baby was born with a BIRTH DEFECT, and later died. :( Umm, this is a classic case of the government sticking their nose where it shouldn't be... AND, people forming opinions without knowing all the facts... This particular family is ripped apart, and their circumstances caused by government interference, are outrageous. Maybe parent's should be charged with a crime when they feed their children meat & animal products, and the child dies from FOOD POISONING... usually caused from FECES contamination...

Haven't seen a Green BumperSticker in years... for a while it seemed they were non-exsistant... maybe a round, white one, but most people didn't want to put these on their vehicle. I'll keep my eyes open for any activity here hehehehe

Found Gas for $2.07 9/27 in a city north from us... our city was still touting the $2.15 price.. then the very next DAY, it was around $2.26 Now, eight days later, it's about $2.15 again. What I find irritating, is the Station that usually has the lowest price doesn't, and the Station who's gas is usually higher, is now the lowest... What the heck~

The camera is now showing the Zebras, around a tree, by the road that leads to those houses... I love it!

Receive Retain Release Forgive me if this sounds redundant, but we didn't exactly Receive the Word Of God in TWI... most got and ear and heart full of the twisted, deceitful, manipulated half truths... We Retained those for many, many years... The Release Process sometimes takes a long time, that's IF and WHEN a person finally recognizes the lie and hateful pattern that had so smoothly crept into their being... Yup... the painful, noisy process can be lengthy. And as mentioned before, there are new people coming to the truth every day... Hurray for the Bridge Builders!
