DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR

God told me to stay away from the political stuff :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

I was amazed in TWI at how many people told me that they raised someone (or many people) from the dead...made new limbs, hands and arms appear out of thin air...or personally held back the devil and all his forces so we would even have a world to live in...

Very creative and imaginative.....

or always the infamous "God told me" whenver someone wanted their way

Didnt VP personally save the United States from complete disaster at some time?

I think it was sometime after he was given the keys to the far east....

....I dont know how many people that Ive met that didnt put gas in their car because God would give them a free 1/4 tank to get their rattling death trap wow wagon to some meeting.

The doctrine of VP still grows--

There is a former way leader in my area who has written a book that was personally dictated to him by Jesus Christ.

IMO there is some underlying anxiety of people wanting desperately to be accepted even if it takes prophetic nose spiders to do it.

There was a TWI subculture that came from a facet of Wierwille that just had to out outlandish one another.

Delusions of Grandeur.....

Whether its a small town cop, a cult leader, a professor, a scientist,

a hollywood actor, a sport icon, a federal judge, a dictator, etc.

......the nature of man tends to gravitate towards pride and vanity.

When left unchecked, delusions of grandeur tend to seep in, and once in,

are inhabited a lifetime. Without check and balances and accountability,

the mind of man can easily fabricate delusions.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

"God told me to be an idiot."

That's what my ears hear every time someone says to me, "God told me that...." whatever. I just think, oh well, I'm talking to another idiot today.

It's like a spiritual version of the Jerry Springer Show. But instead of watching feuding women get up and chase each other around the chairs on stage, you can watch an idiot chase her common sense out the door.

You might want to try it next time it happens to you, save yourself a lot of wasted time and unnecessary heartache.

Is this on topic? I don't care, I live under grace you know.

I remember hearing that Claudettee Royale blew off a career at Metropolital Opera House to go in the way corps, but her ability was no delusion. Metropolitan Opera house? Dunno, but she could've at least gotten her foot in the door.

How about this....

"The word IS over the world!"

"God told me to pay the way corps full time salary!"

My personal favorite...

VP sinned, therefore Christ isn't coming back!

Couldn't resist.

VP sinned, therefore Christ isn't coming back!

You only missed a few details here. "VP womanized, raped, drugged, stole, plagiarized, was an arrogant, abrasive self-serving raging alcoholic sob who pretended to be an apostle or prophet, and had delusions of Godhood. Therefore Christ isn't coming back."

Is that what you are trying to say?

I remember hearing that Cl@udettee Roy@le blew off a career at Metropolital Opera House to go in the way corps, but her ability was no delusion. Metropolitan Opera house? Dunno, but she could've at least gotten her foot in the door.

That WAS a "delusion of grandeur." There were plenty of people who had SOME talent.

In twi, the usual dash was that twi'ers were "THE GREATEST" and that they were

the equal of the very best outside twi.

CR was an excellent singer, but there's lots of excellent singers.

Ever see the semi-finals on "American Idol" or any equivalent show, any season,

any COUNTRY?

There's lots of singers with an equal level of talent, and lots of singers with MORE

talent.

Furthermore, there's a lot of competition to even APPLY to the Metropolitan Opera

Company (the House doesn't employ singers, but the Company performs at the House.)

CR might even have gotten to apply. Unless she's improved dramatically, it's unlikely

she would have made that PARTICULAR cut. She could probably make a career out of

singing somewhere with less competition-but less fame in the name.

Whatever happened to more truthful speech, like "We have some excellent people

who do well and we are proud of their performance abilities. We showcase them when

we have the opportunity"? But from the beginning, vpw made it twi practice that

wild claims were to be used whenever they couldn't be checked for accuracy.

How about this....

"The word IS over the world!"

"God told me to pay the way corps full time salary!"

Yeah, lcm learned to make wild claims from vpw, and was a lot

more blatant and overt about it. He made some of them into policy

decisions- which meant Delusions of Grandeur were making POLICY.

That's a recipe for destruction. Small wonder people RAN from twi

and lcm ended up in court. If twi had lesser lawyers, lcm might have

spent time in prison.

My personal favorite...

VP sinned, therefore Christ isn't coming back!

Couldn't resist.

Yeah, making up claims nobody ever made is hard for some people to resist.

When someone claimed others were saying "vpw sinned and therefore did no good",

I made a poll for it and a thread. NOBODY said that was their position,

even ANONYMOUSLY.

BTW, please don't confuse "vpw sinned"-which is true for everybody except JC-

with "vpw womanized, raped, drugged, stole, plagiarized, was an arrogant, abrasive self-serving raging alcoholic sob who pretended to be an apostle or prophet, and had delusions of godhood."

Don't belittle vpw's accomplishments.

vpw worked VERY HARD at womanizing, raping, theft, plagiarizing, self-service,

alcoholism, and impersonation of various ministries, and worked fairly hard

at the drugging and delusions of godhood.

Acknowledge EVERYTHING he did-don't just cherry-pick the ones you like.

(I acknowledge the ones I like and dislike, both.)

Whether wierwille was imitating Lawrence Welk's spotlighting of selected singers, dancers,

and musicians.....I don't know.

But wierwille was never shy in hiding his favorite......and Stevie K@y L0uie was front-n-center

for several years before CR.

Hey, Rocky......what's with the political jab?

If politics were to enter this discussion, I'm sure there are others who would counter

that by saying "So.....in 2008, did God call Obama to the office of US President?"

Religion and Politics......Beware of the leaven of the hierarchy!!!

I'm not remembering Obama having claimed any call from God to be president. My comment was intended to show a couple of people who have laid claim to said calling when it appears they are just a good bit full of themselves.
