  1. Hey Rascal I remember the WOW training in 1979 (that was the year i was sent to Wyoming as WOW) and all the water and rain. TWI having the guys in one area in the BIG top tent and the gals in another section. And when the water still wasn't under controll they moved us over to one of the storage areas that they used for materials and stuff with the landing on the top of the stairs that led down where all of us poor little WOW's were sitting where Dr. VPW used it as a podium. I also remember going to the training for 3 or 4 hours in the morning taking a break just long enough for us to wolf down 1 or was it 2 WOW burgers and then having to go back for a few more hours in the afternoon for more training. From what i remember it was pretty much repetitive stuff.
  2. Is there anything that you remember about TWI before they got into all the Legalistic 'BS' that was good??? I remember all of the times my friends and I got together to talk (either at fellowship or non fellowship) and just to be together. Especially at Emporia where all of us belivers got togetherat "Sambo's" befor it became "Denny's" just to shoot the S**t and talk about what was currently going on. One of the lady Twig leaders (her name was Debora i think. Way CORPS also) was working there and we all use to sit in her area for our get together, and each of us left a tip for her which helped her out. There was about anywhere from 6 to 10 or 15 at the most that used to come in for coffe or wafflesor a burger and fries or just a soda. Times used to be good, That is before the BIG leadership saw how much love and good fellowship was leading for them not having the rank and file not following what they wanted them to do. Does anyone have any other good memories along these lines???
  3. Wasn't "The touch of the master's hand." also on the album "All Aboard"???? I'm going to have to dig out my 3 old Way albums to check.
  4. In an "off topic" bit of information. I was watching a show on the history channel on cable 4 or 5 nights ago when they had a show on "Illegal Drugs and how they got that way". In it they had a segment on Freud being I belive either a cocain or meth addict, AND also giving it to his clients that came to see him to help relive bouts of depression. Don't know if anyone else saw the show or not.
  5. Hi Sprawled Out I happened on the BBRC about 2 1/2 to 3 years ago from a letter asking me for donations to the BRC building to get built. That's when I posted on what the deal was to the good people here. I also noticed that Amazon.com has the 1971 Power for Abundant Living;: The accuracy of the word - book by VPW listed for $3.10
  6. While I was a "WOW" in Wyoming, I had the responsibility for running the tapes for the foundational class. During the class i kept each tape cued up for the next segment of the class, PLUS running music (mostly the WAY pre-recorded tapes). Everything was running smoothly, UNTILL.................................I happened to put in the "PFAL '77" audio tape, thinking that it would be nice to hear the songs and music on the tape.    BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The WAY CORP leader of the 2 families came charging into the room and TOLD me to turn of the tape, saying that it wasn't cosher to play it cause it would cause confusion with the students and had too much early information on later segments of the class. OH WELL. after that i had to keep playing the same old 4 to 5 WAY tapes of regular music that the members of the families had. Needless to say, everybody pretty well knew all of the songs that were on the song and music tapes by the end of the class. This was in 1979 or early 1980.
  7. As with all of TWI, when people start to think for themselfs and start to compare notes, the leadership jumps in to put the clamps on the mix to keep "non-belivers" or "the troublemakers" of the world, namely ex-belivers that got kicked out or left (like us on greasespotcafe), from bringing out the truth of TWI's dealings.

    Opus Dei

On cable the other day I saw a show about a spin off of the Catholic Church called "Opus Dei". While I was watching it, I got to thinking it sounded a little like TWI. Members had to request to join and had to go through a lot of trial periods to get up to the point to where they got to be more involved with the orginization. Thier web site is www.opusdei.org and tells more about the orginization. Does anyone know more on what the group is like and if it is anything similar to what TWI is like? :(
  9. 100,000 may have been the "total" numbers for PFAL who took the class, whether or not they comlpetely went through to the end of the class. A rough "roundhouse" guess would be a possible 30,000 to 40,000 total enrollment at anyone time. I know that at the ROCK in 1979, TWI supposwidly had a total attendance ofabout 24 to 25 thousand for the whole week. And that didn't mean that all of that figure was there for the whole ROCK, some just for a day or 2, maybe 3 days total out of the 7 days. The numbers they gave were for all of the people who had registered at the registration tent (supposidly). World wide member figures might have been more, but I imagine that U.S. figures totaled no more than 30 to 40 thousand members. Without actual access to the records at TWI it may never be known as to the actual "maximum" numbers that TWI had as members.
  10. What GreasyTech said I feal the same way GreasyTech. IF the leadership is offering an olive branch, it should be put into an mp3 file or an official document from the main leadership as an official "We're sorry." document. Otherwise they can recant and say it wasn't oficially "sanctioned" by any of the leadership.
  11. I agree with catcup The TWI leadership and the BOT and the BOD needs to stand up and admit what they have done. Will it ever happen??? I myself can't really say. They haven't ever admitted doing anything wrong yet. Basically it's the ones who they confronetd that are in the wrong and not them. But it will never happen. Everyone in charge at TWI have been raking in BIG saleries and making sure those who are left keep thier ABS rolling in. As far as getting new members, there is too much information against TWI to have them get many suckers, OOOOOPPPPPPPPsssss, i mean followers. And the new people that do come in may find out how TWI operates fairly quickly. As far as me ever going back................only if RR and all the top leaders and the BOD and the BOT closes TWI down, divides the money thats left and the money they 'SUPPOSIDLY' earned and is in all the bank accounts back to all the people that has ever sent in ABS and made donations. Then giving the land and ALL of the buildings back to the Wierwille relatives along with the TWI name so the Wierwille survivors can keep the ones running TWI now from ever starting it up again. That's the only way I would go back, to help celebrate TWI closing for good and never ever starting back up.
  12. Hi JWitt I know how you feel. I grew up in the Presbitarian church. But i never really belived in JC being God, guess that's what hooked me into joining TWI. I never really ran into very many people that screamed and yelled at me not beliving in the trinity (except when i lived in Emporia, Kansas). There was this one 'NUT Case' that was a REAL thorn in the side cause i was in TWI that kept him going over the deep end just cause i WAS a member and didn't respond like he wanted me to on his ranting and ravings. I just remained calm and let him blow off steam. after a while he just learned that i wasn't going to drop to his level and he finally quit.
  13. Tom Strange I thought that the WayGB mobile was supposed to be secret so they could drive around and spy on us without being noticed. Guess now they will have to find something a little more inconspicuous to drive around in.
  14. I remember the library from when i lived in Emporia from october '78 to ROA '79. The work that had been done by the people who worked on it was astounding. the look of the Oak that had been redone turned out wonderfully. Too bad that someone doesn't buy it from the University and help get it set up as a landmark like topoftheworld suggested. After all of the work that the old ex-way people did to fix it up and make it look so good would be a shame to not have it set up as a historical landmark.
  15. Hi Linda Z I know that some of the TWI things that people have sold on Ebay have sold pretty well. Hope that the items you have sell good for you. And hey Littlehawk, glad to see you posting again. And yes TWI did put a 45 record of "The Band Of Gold" with another song on the flip side as well of the person that recorded "The Band Of Gold". I had a chance to get one of the records at a Limb meeting here in Iowa when I was still 'In', but when they were giving out the old items that the limb wasn't going to sell any more, I think that they had 4 to 6 of the 45's, I raised my hand to get ome of the copies but the copies went to branch leaders and twig leaders that the Limb leader knew. If you post a seperate topic about a copy of the 45 maybe someone might be able to get you a copy of the song burnt off to a CD.
  16. If anybody needs the albums PFAL '77, ROA '76 (i think that's the one that they put out wit the WAY Mag. at the time), and All Aboard, i think that i have all 3 albums if anyone needs them to convert over to CD's. These are the LP records. I haven't played them in quite a while and the dust jackets are still in really great shape. I can double check and see if i still have all 3 with my other records that i still have. Also i have one of the pressed down tapes but would have to dig around in my room for that one, If memory serves me it's the 'star of the show' audio tape. If anyone would want to have the albums to convert to CD's let me know and we can work something out on how to send them. :) :)
  17. I just took the speed test again after upgrading my computer to Windows XP Pro and downloaded the newest drivers through the Microsoft updates for my conextant modem. Now i find that my 56k modem is doing 38 131 for uploading and downloading. could that be because of the newer drivers?? or XP or both?
  18. I downloaded the google earth software to my computer it brings up the picture, but everything looks fuzzy. :( could it be my in my onboard graphics controller? (Intel 82810E Graphics Controller) I can see general shapes of buildings and things but that's it. I downloaded the free version. Any help would be apreciated.
  19. just a quick not to everyone on some info i picked up from another friend of mine that dabbles in computers from time to time. It seems that if a computer (with windows 2000 or XP) is from a school or such and has been networked to a central computer, like in a school setting, and has a password on the main boot up and has just a network/ethernet card, try pulling the networking card out of the computer and rebooting the computer. My other friend had someone bring in a computer that was setup that way and a friend of his showed him on it how to get around the computer asking for the password. All the person did was to pull the network/ethernet card and reboot the computer. My friend said that if he didn't see it for himself he wouldn't have belived it. I don't know if he was able to change the password after that or not, but it solved the problem of the computer from asking for the password to go on into windows.
  20. ck I'm sure that your folks know 'VP' as a good person and had a lot of respect for him. 'BUT' VP had 2 basic sides. The first one was the 3 piece suit and tie person who could charm the socks off a mouse if he wanted to, if mice had and could wear socks. The other side was the man inside the 3 piece suit and tie was a whole different ballgame to those that knew that side of him, quite a few people here know that side and could tell you volumes if they wanted to from experience. Your folks probably saw the 3 piece suit and tie side of VPW and wern't around him when the other side of the coin was showing. People that i've talked to have told of a person that in private quarters VP was an entirely different person than when he was in the public view. So the question is "whom" to belive? Your folks probably saw the side of VP that VP wanted them to see and not what the real person was like in his minute by minute life.
  21. mstar1 it might do more than "rile" a few feathers if 1000 to 2000 PFAL grads with signed green cards showed up to the new class. Could wind up cooking thier goose with all the trimmings.
  22. the only one's left are: The Pres', and the BOT (BOD) and no more ABS is comming in. BYE BYE WAY leaders.
  23. Watered Garden I want to appologise for the off the wall comment that I made about your poster that you have for sale. I was attempting a little humor towards TWI instead of what u had that u wanted to sell. It wasn't any type fo disrespect towards you. I tend to try to use Humour towards TWI to poke fun at them than to have an innocent person get hurt by what i have said. So i hope u can forgive what i said in my earlier post about the poster u have. I do know that there are some people here at GSC that do collect the artwork that the older TWI produced. I even sold some of the collaterals and the Bullinger hardbound bible from when i was in to one of the posters that post here quite a while back. And i am still debating if i want to sell some of the rest of the TWI records that i have or just toss them. "PFAL '77" "All Aboard" and "ROA 1976" albums. The only thing is if they would survive the postal system's delivery system.
  24. "Red Eye's"???? There is one "Person" that is supposidly to have 'Red Eye's'.................can u say S.A.T.A.N? I never knew RFR. BUT, from what's been posted here about her, that could be a possible term for her, wouldn't it?
  25. and if u have the 'PIFFLE' CD's of the class from the people in Belize, the poster on the wall at the front of the class would be just the cherry.
