Last night in the chat room I had a discussion with "Chuck" over his belief in "biblical universalism" which says that everyone will be saved at the end and there is no hell. Has anyone heard of this and what do you think.

Just found out that Jerry Orbach died from prostate cancer. At 69. He was my favorite detective on Law and Order. I will miss him.

Vickles has cast aspersions on the bible because "it has been translated into so many languages" That's not scholarly work vicks, the Old Testament is extremely accurate, having been meticuously copied over the years. We have more examples of it and the New Testament than we do of Homer, Plato or Socrates. As a Christian I accept the Bible's definition of sin. Homosexuality is right up there with the biggies like lust and gossip and drunkenness. But I live in a sinful secular world that does not accept the Bible as God's word. So initially I am more interested in getting people into the kingdom and then letting God show people where they need to change. But don't blame mistranslations for the Bible's stance on the subject. And by the way God considers male and female homosexuality as an abomination and calls the practitioners to come to him and let him change them.

There was a song "You are Special" well if everyone is special then no one is. And the good/best thing had more to do with rationalizing sin. According to twi our choice was good/best not good/bad, so if we chose something that felt good, we could shrug it off as not the best, but good.

"Food for Thought" - Original Sin

The Bible also says Adam was with Eve when this happened. So Adam stood there while Eve and the serpent talked and never said a word. He just ate the fruit along with Eve and then blamed her when God came looking for them. -

Did VPW plagiarize JCING?

Raf I can't give the specifics now, but I remember somebody getting the boot for using unattribyuted thoughts and comments used in a different writer's column. -
Why do we still care?

Hey, I was just asking, OK? -
For an interesting take on Judge Moore and what the constitution says check this link. http://www.renewamerica.us/archives/speech...07hillsdale.htm

Raf, you should apologize to Rich Mullins' estate now.

It's not so much what she does but who.

Do they celebrate the day vpw died? They would do well to remember the adage "Death is nature's way of saying 'slow down.'"

Cknapp I think Jesus was talking to Satan, because Jesus knew Satan was interfering with Peter.

Better question did vpw/twi plagiarize JCOur promised seed? -
This is why "dispensationalism" makes sense. :)--> Not neccessarily, Lucifer was good until evil took over his heart and he became Satan. Ever wonder where Lucas came up with Annakin/Darth Vader?

Maybe Biblefan can weigh in on this one. -

And we spend more time arguing about who Jesus isn't instead of what he did and what it means. -
Wierwille's Wacky Dispensationalism
def59 replied to TheEvan's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
As for salvation, I believe we need to understand that God judges from the heart. Look at Rahab, an innkeeper or prostitute, she was a rank unbeliever who heard what God was doing, correctly assessed the situation and trusted in Him. She eventually became part of the Christ line. -

Personally, from my own research, I believe Pentecost happened at the temple not in an upper room. Raf, I agree vpw got this one right, and others have hit it too. Ray Vanderlaan, Michigan-based scholar, has a book that talks about the south gate to the temple as the most likely spot. -

How much validity is there in the Upper Room theory? -
Plagiarism goes deeper than that. If you are trying to pawn off another's work as your own that's plagiarism regardless of what the work's purpose is. And there's no shame in quoting others works you just need to cite it that's all. If vpw had done it consistently none of us would be here.
