  1. Kizka- Hi and welcome, I hope you find the community here in greasespot cafe as theraputic as I have. I can fully believe that you have had these things happen while in TWI. I saw enough of it when I joined TWI, later on the WOW field and as a believer pretty much up until I left. In several cases I reported about them- little was done. The really wicked thing was how even when transgressors were punished the leaders still practiced it in secret using a cloak of spirituality. As you say God will sort them out in the end. In the meantime I hope you find peace and complete healing/wholeness "sozo"
  2. As I understand tupos it is used in non bible Greek to describe a die or mold. For example the die used to stamp a coin with the head of a ruler is a tupos. The stamped head on the coin is the anti-tupos. Another example is a signet ring or seal used to mark sealing wax on a letter. The seal is the tupos and the mark in the melted wax is the anti-tupos. I have heard it explained that you can organize prophecies and characters in the old testament as different tupos. For instance Abraham could be the tupos of believing. Thus the Old Testament provides the mold which Christ filled. And The New Testament of Christ is the tupos by which we are to mold ourselves.
  3. I have a more mundane theory that I can't back scripturally. Remember that Ba lam (with the talking donkey) was a prophet of the most high God but was not a Hebrew. ( That was during the Exodus a lot later) Also Abraham came from Chaldea (Part of present day Iran/Iraq I think) and sent back for wives for his sons. He had to have some kind of religious training and his family tribe had some kind of religious beliefs that predisposed him to recognize and accept the concept of one God. This leads me to wonder if there was a religion in the middle east that was not "pagan". It recognized and worshiped one God which was or became the God of Abraham in the sense we understand it from the Bible. David renamed a town called Salem (peace) Jerusalem (new peace) where he planned to build the temple. Therefore I suspect that Melchisedec was the king of the town Salem that became Jerusalem and a priest of that preexisting religion. A religion that Abraham recognized from his background.
  4. "A better way?" Two Words Fair Tax For what it is worth republican candidate Mike Huckabee supports the fair tax Two books about the fair tax- The Fair-Tax-Book-Saying-Goodbye to the Income Tax and the IRS The FairTax-Answering the-Critics
  5. the LARGE PRINT giveth and the fine print taketh away Blessed be the politicians and tax lawyers Same trick.... different recession must be an election coming up or something be sure to vote for those who give you back your own money before the election --- then take it away again after. will we get fooled again?
  6. Hey sirg-long time no see- I haven't visited GSC much for a while. Looks like you are still growin' an glowin' ;) You always make me think. Where would a God of Them or That- separate and distinct from self fit in to your ordering? Why did you not include a loving God who intensely, passionately unconditionally and completely loves every individual, creature and item of his creation. Or did you just print it in white and we could not see it because that may be the totality of those colors you used and also the totality of God? The path that can be seen is not the true path.
  7. While my first thought of this is- ridiculous, my second is: The timing would be about about right. With Iran beginning uranium refining, and their presidents' reportedly apocalyptic vision of his destiny, some have estimated that they will have the bomb in 2 to 5 years. No one is seriously trying to stop them either. It is also expected that they will use it against Israel when they have it, and possibly against the USA if they can. Of course Israel would reply, as might we. If this did occur in the Middle East and started between what was Persia and Israel. A lot of people who would read: Zechariah 12:6 In that day will I make the chiefs of Judah like a pan of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire among sheaves; and they shall devour all the peoples round about, on the right hand and on the left; and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem. or other verses like it and think that prophecy had come to pass. I hope I'm wrong, but for now this looks like more self evident prophecy to me. Because if nothing changes it will happen sooner or later.
  8. unless logically speaking you are perfectly imperfect. In this case the reality of Spiritual perfection in Christ existing in the physical reality of an imperfect physical body living in a carnal world. I think Paul and others address this at times in the Bible.
  9. Hi Shifra. If you have not read The Two Ways Of The First Century Church by David Anderson. You and others who are intersted in doctrinal topics might find it interesting. It talks about the conflict between Paul and the legalistic Christian Jews Lead by James, the Lords Brother. As I remember, in some ways it supports your theories about Paul and in others it contradicts them. It can be read at: http://my.en.com/~anders/intro.html
  10. From the Peacock Bed Breakfast Website. The Peacock Bed Breakfast has a fascinating and colorful history. Built in 1897, the building has seen a variety of lifestyles, from local bordello to missionary training center. How funny just like the Ohio Limb outside ofColumbus in the '80's
  11. As I remember this teaching: The Greek word for “mocked” in the gospels was the same as the Greek word for “sport” in the Septuagint version of the OT. It was also supposed to be the same for "sporting" in Gen 26:8. I am not enough of a Greek and Hebrew scholar to verify this but the words do look similar when I checked them on a Septuagint website. This was the only scriptural justification I remember for the teaching. Gen 26:7 And the men of the place asked [him] of his wife; and he said, She [is] my sister: for he feared to say, [she is] my wife; lest, [said he], the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she [was] fair to look upon. Gen 26:8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac [was] sporting with Rebekah his wife. Gen 26:9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she [is] thy wife: and how saidst thou, She [is] my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her. A personal theory of mine is that if this was true- that if Jesus was homosexually raped then under the OT law he would be required to be put to death, even if He had not sinned. This might have been required for him to truly fulfill the Law, because He was innocent of the charges brought against Him and the trial was illegal, and He never transgressed the law- He fulfilled it But I wonder if something in the Law had to condemn him to death, and this would be one of the few things that would do it- Because both the “victim” and “victimizer” were required to be put to death (The only other two I can think of were incest and bestiality) I also wonder if this was part of what was revealed to him at the garden of Gethsemane. Sushi and Sogwap51- This might be why this subject is worthwhile to some. It is why it is to me.

    Go-Karts

It sounds like you might want to build a soap box derby race car- there are associations in the usa and canada. here is a link to Canadian soapbox Derbyinfo. Cart Plans Soap bok Kit This looks like what the picture you showed. At 69 canadian and the fact that it is may be used by racing associations near you, It would probably be your best bet.
  13. Hi ck- I joined myspace to join your group- It said I had to wait a week to post- so I'll just have to wait.

    ouch.............

Krys- If you want to see what federal healthcare looks like and how it works today- Visit a nursing home. The staff do the best they can but it typically sucks. The residents have their every need taken care of just not how they want or when they want as long as federal guidlines and restrictions allow it. Most residents are reciving a mixture of medicare/medicaid- or they will when they run out of money.
  16. Here is a site that has Old Versions of a l ot of popular software including zone alarm. There are other firewalls as well. I just bought a new laptop- for $800-(gateway 7330gz) it was discontinued but new- list about $1100 and had all the features I wanted. I have noticed that many stores like office depot and staples mark equipment down at the beginnig of a new quater- inventory reduction. That is what I took advantage of. My old laptop was a sony that I bought refurbished- another good way to get a good deal- it worked well for over 5 years, then the screen started to flicker. Since I will be on the road soon, I didn't want to mess with it or risk losing it completely at an inconvient time. I have been told it may be easy to fix so I may do so later.

    Who Shot JFK?

I recently saw a show on either the history channel or discovery in which a group of Australians recreated the shot that Oswald had that hit both Gov. Connally and JFK. They recreated the trajectory and made dummies made of Gel and bones to duplicate the bodies. They then had a pathologist write up an autopsy report and injury report-(connaly survived) for both dummies- they were virtually identical to the one from the original shooting. They then gave the autopsy reports to another pathologist saying that it was for a wrongful death suit and that they wanted to know whether this could be caused by a single bullet. The second pathologist concluded that there was more than 1 bullet. It is pretty convincing that a single shooter made the shot Not that it will change anyone’s opinion for conspiracy
  18. Topo- I fast forward and rewind a tape before I record it. I find that helps the tape lay on the reel smoothly which reduces binding and squealing.
  19. EZ cd creator platnium ($80-$100?) has a program that is designed to record tape or records and then clean them up. It is called sound stream. EZ cd creator does a whole lot more as well. To record tapes I use an Iriver mp3 player recorder. This is the current model Iriver t-10 but there are many other mp3 player recorders out there
  20. Chas- I think you might want to look at ways to convert you favorite cd's and recorde to m4p- if you like the ipod and the quality is fine stick with it. I use music match and/or easy cd creator platnum ( it has stuff to improve direct recording from records) to rip and convert from mp3 to wav. Here are a couple of products that may work that I found- Tune bite Blaze media pro Using an old computer hooked to a stero is a nice way to have and play tour colection of music
  21. Chas- I mispoke the file that apple uses is m4p not m3u (m3u is a playlist format for mp3 files.) Apple has developed this format to keep it from being used on a non apple product. I don't think ipods can play mp3's or wav files. There are now conversion programs to do this. Many people don't like m4p for this reason- I convert songs I buy on Itunes by recording them to cd and then ripping the cd. This is not the best way as it can add a little distortion although they sound acceptable to me. You probably would have trouble conveting your cd collection to apple format without an apple computer but perhaps they included the software for windows (I doubt it since they would much rather sell the whole computer-that is part of apples whole buissness model) There is software available from third parties I think. Another thing about recording you own cd's is the fidelity. It is related to bit rate which is sampling rate. If you look at the two copies of GSC radio episode 1 you see the MP3 is four times the size of the WAV. Tthat is because the WAV file has one quarter the bitrate or sampling rate of the mp3. The lower rate is fine for voice but the music won't sound as good. The highest bitrate available on a standard mp3 is 320kbps- cd quality is 128kbps- I can tell a diffrence between a 128kbps mp3 and the original cd. Above about 160kbps I can't. I record all my cd's at the highest possible rate the files are bigger but who cares- they sound better and storage is cheap- I don't know what the highest rate available on M4p is. I hope that helps you understand why I don't like the apple format and would not get an ipod- but I hope you enjoy it. I know millions do.
  22. I have used a couple of mp3 players for a few years Creative labs zen nomad and an Iriver 512mb-primarily as a recorder) - my music collection which is a couple of hundred cds is all on mp3. The main thing I don't like about Ipod is their m3u format it is propritary and I don't think you can make as high quality rips of your own cds and albums as you can with open format players. Further while itunes is great there are a lot of other good online music sources. Also the original ipods had a short battery life and you had to send the thing in to have the batteries changed! I hear the batteries last longer but if they are built in you'l have the same problem. You might consider Creative, Iriver (theirs record- so you can record your timbuck three album) or Archos. Also if you are getting a jukebox-(hard drive unit) spend a little more and get a 40gig- I have had a creative zen nomad (20gig) for about 4 years- it still sounds great-I'm listing to it now through a stereo but I have almost filled the drive with favorites and that is the main reason I would replace it. I have an mp3 cd player (I bought it online from crutcfield- an easy to install kit with excellent directions and tech support) in my car with aux inputs so I can use either a portable or mp3cd which lasts several hours. her are links to Archos Players, Creative players, Iriver players
  23. Jim and Dmiller- the twig hopper was technicaly a motorcycle with sidecar. only one wheel was driven-the motorcycle rear wheel. A side car is added to the original motorcycle. A trike has two rear wheels- both driven. They were often built using a vw rearend and motor with a custom frame and motorcycle front wheel.
  24. that should work assuming the password protection is the logon screen to let the user in. It won't work if the password is to decrypt encrypted or password protected files. It is also possible to set up a dos bootdisk that has a driver that can read ntfs files (I am assuming you are talking about windows 200 or xp)- I know it exists just not sure where to get it. If you included the copy command on the boot disk you could copy the files to floppy as long as they were small enough.
