Name that TV Show

I really don't want to give other lines.

This was Dan Aykroyd impersonating Jimmy Carter in the opening skit of a SNL show. I always thought it was hysterical, and I remembered it almost verbatim, over 30 years later. I think the new SNL cast needs to reprise it with their "Obama." Change "2000" to, say, "2025", and "Jimmy" to "Obama"; and it rings even more true today!

Free post!

P.S. I've found the transcript in a number of places, but I can't find a video. If anyone can, please post it.

Ok, new show, then.

"Don't you tell me to be quiet! I have a mind of my own you know! I can contribute! I'm not just some... trophy wife!"

"You're a trophy wife? What contest in hell did I win?"

"We haven't had a conversation for 35 years."

"I didn't want to interrupt!"

"Hey Nemo, what do you do if somebody's choking?"

"Change the special."

"Thanks."

"Do you love me?"

"YOU STILL NEED REASSURANCE, AFTER 45 YEARS OF BONDAGE?"

I hardly ever watched the show, but I remember an episode of "Mad About You" where Helen Hunt was beating Paul Reiser in her sleep.

Is that it?

George

It is not.

I am positing that this one- despite NOT being obscure- will be a little tough for the current guessers.

"I'm glad I have someone looking out for me."

"I'm looking out for ME. You punch really hard during those bad dreams."

"What happens to these people in their last moments, it really matters."

"Have you ever heard of a antique-related emergency?"

"Um, uh, no."

"You run an antique shop in Grandview, isn't that right?"

"Yes."

"And you're an amateur psychiatrist in your off hours?"

"I'm beginning to feel like a travel agent who's never been on a plane."

"Was that a date?"

"Did it feel like a date?"

"Well, she left before dinner arrived, so, roughly, I'd say yes."

"I've seen them weep for joy, I've felt their peace. You just have to have a little faith, it's that simple. You're not alone, and all of this was meant to be and the only thing I know for sure is that there is love there, love like you have never known here and you can't just turn away from that."

"What if she doesn't remember me?"

"I've never given birth but from what I've heard it's not something you forget."

"I feel like I'm living in a John Carpenter film."

"In order to tell you my story, I have to tell you theirs."

"Wait, didn't you say that kid Dylan was playing with him? Well, how could he see him?"

"Kids can almost always see spirits. Where do you think imaginary friends come from?"

"See these rings, they mean you and I are bound together, your problems are my problems, so talk to me."

"Retro Fright Night. 'Psycho', 'Hell House', 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'…"

"Wait, how is that retro?

Jennifer Love Hewitt starred in 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.'"

"I got pulled over this morning for having all the mirrors in the Mercedes turned so I could see myself."

" I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you."

"Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart."

"50 animals died because of that coat!"

"Wanna make it 51?"

George
